The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

I have read that a lot of weird night time stuff can be food allergy related. But I think it's another guess.

We have Natalie's 6 month check up today. She actually turns 6 mo. on Friday. Time has really flown by on me.

Hotveggy- sounds like tou have had tough month:flower3:

Can't wait to hear how big she is!

Lucas's 6 month is tomorrow but he was 6 months two weeks ago. The practice used to have 2 pediatricians but one left... and when he gets new vaccinations they make me hold out for the actual pediatrician.

Other months we see NPs. Anyone else?
At first I hated that, I wanted to see the pediatrician at all the appointments... then there was one sick visit that we went in w/ an appointment for the NP and the pediatrician popped in for a minutes to give him a look and ensure everything was good.. so I'm back to being happy with them.

Well, we are back. We couldn't get our shots because she is not at least 6 months old. One of the shots cannot be given even a day early. So we go back again on Monday. Natalie turns 6 months on Friday. At least it only takes me 10 minutes to get to the doctors office. The doctor said the 6 month, 1 year and 4 year shots can't be given early.

Piecey- We always see her doctor every visit. The NP is the one who actually gives her the shots.

That's crazy! You'd think they would realize that when they scheduled the appointment!!

Did they give you her stats or are they just going to wait until Monday?

I would prefer to see the pediatrician at every appoitnment but what can you do? We could change Dr.s but this guy is the guy to have and we had to apply to get in... he's the one everyone seems to want. Not a lot of options around here unless we jumped to family doctor.

Back in 2006 when I went on DCL I joined a DIS group for that sailing.. we all got pretty close and one of the other DISsers started TTC on the ship- it took awhile but she is currently being induced. We are all on Facebook watching her hubby's updates like a hawk. I'm so excited for her!

We see either the NP or her ped. My ped is in her own practice with 2 NP's. I like them all. My ped is so cool. She has her own vax schedule, etc.

There are no NPs in my ped's office-there are about 7 or 8 peds. I personally see an NP, dh's cousin, for general medical problems. She and 3 other NPs work for a local doctor, who is in his 80s! He delivered all 3 of my sisters, but was out of town when I was born. I love him, but won't go to him anymore. I have no problem using the NPs, and take the older kids to see them when I don't want to drive the 45 min to the ped's office.

That is crazy that they scheduled an appt for her 6 mos checkup before she was 6 mos old! Katie had her allergic reaction to antibiotic about 10 days before she was 6 mos old. They wanted to see her the next week, then again for her checkup the next. Since it is a 45 min drive from my house, and 60 min from my work, I asked them to move the checkup up a week, and do it all in one visit. They wouldn't because they couldn't give the shots even a day early.

Patsy, how much school work do you have left? I have one more day of work, then I'm off for 2 wks! dd10 and I are spending the day together Mon, with Katie in daycare. I really think she needs that one on one time. She has an ortho appt (again-45 min from home-there is nothing around here in the boonies!), and then we are going to eat lunch and go see the Princess and the Frog. She got her braces off last summer, and hopefully will only have to wear her retainer at night after this appt, instead of all the time.

Nope, no stats. I have to come back for her full exam. Her doctor and nurse felt so bad about the error. They are actually fitting her in for the first app't after lunch on Monday. Like I said, at least it is only a 10 minute drive from the house.

Is anybody else as shocked as me that Christmas is just 1 week away:scared1: Where hast the time gone? I need to head to the dreaded post office and mail some gifts.

december, one assignment. Which I hope to do today!

The pediatrician's office threw me for a loop today because they were running an hour and a half behind. I totally didn't even realize it (Lucas and I were just playing on the exam table, luckily I had his favorite rattle in the diaper bag!) because I don't wear a watch and had left my phone at home.

They opted to not give him the full arsenol of 6m shots because they had seasonal flu and H1N1 in and the pediatrician felt he should have them... didn't have much time to think about it, I never dreamed they'd have either much less both!
So I told them to go ahead and do it and they also gave him the pertussis vaccine. He goes back next month for the rest.

He was 19lbs- 75th percentile
He was 27.5"- 90th percentile
Head was 18- 90th percentile.

All in all, he was pleased. He was shocked at how happy Lucas was and even more shocked when I told him he's pretty much that way all the time. Even when the pedi was squeezing on him Lucas was giggling.

The rash didn't clear up whenever I switched diapers and then I noticed that the wipes I had upstairs in his room were different than the one downstairs. I guess when DH refilled the container in the nursery he used the TRU brand that someone had gifted us while I've been using Huggies.
I empted the TRU ones out and refilled with Huggies and the rash is going away!
Woohoo!!

*eta*
They also redid his hearing test! He had failed in one ear at birth but passed them both today!! Wohooo!!

YIKES - that was a long wait! Glad to hear the rash is going away. My mom says that when my brother and I were baby's that we couldn't use anything but pampers brand, anytime she used any other brand then we would break out in a rash - so I've only been doing pampers with Isabel and so far so good. We do use Desitin a few times a day as a preventative - and I try to let her get some air when I change her for a minute or two.

Isabel had her two month visit yesterday (we only wiated a minute or two to get called back, and we were out in less than half an hour). We see the pediatrician at every visit.

She weighed in at 10 lbs (tech did it in her diaper and clothes and it was 10lbs 8oz - DH and I decided to strip her down and get her real weight). She measured 23 inches and her head is 15.5.

SO, she was
Length = 75th percentile
Weight = 25th Percentile
Head = 50th percentile

So long and skinny with an average head, lol!

The doctor was VERY pleased with her weight gain. He is great and asked us, are we doing any vaccinations today? We said no. We chose him because we were told he was open to alternative schedules and not doing vaccines if the parents want. He told me I have plenty of time to decide since I am breastfeeding and she gets antibodies from me. I am doing some research and am deciding what, if any vaccines we will do, and if we do any what alternative schedule we will follow. I know most of you just do them or follow the plan, but DH and I are trying to decide which vaccines, if any to do because of issues we have personally seen with friends and family's children and also because we think kids today are over vaccinated. I don't want to start a debate - I just think each family should do what is best for their children :)

Hope you are all doing well with the crazy weather across the country. We've been having torrential downpours down here in Miami since yesterday - flood and tornado warnings today, thankfully those are over now.

We're expecting snow. Icky.

I'm done with school! Woohoo.

Only know 2 of 6 grades, though. :(

We tried the sippy cup tonight with some apple juice. He was not a fan.

Katie only likes the sippy cup as a noise maker-she's not interested in drinking out of it. She has finally started eating a little more this week for me (they still tell me she eats a jar of food fine at daycare for lunch every day). She loves the Walmart brand cereal looking snacks???? It states on the container that it is for babies who are crawling-not sure what it is called. I bought 2 kinds, but have only opened the blueberry flavored ones. She hums while she eats them-too cute! She had some real sweet potato tonight-with a little cinnamon and sugar. And she loves KFC mashed potatoes!

I know you are so relieved to be done with school. I registered for my last 2 grad classes this week. I'm dreading starting them, but I'm so ready to get them over with.

I'm off for 2 wks!!!! My boss let us go before 1 today-I love him. Some schools made the teachers stay until 3, even though the kids got out at 11:40. Too bad he is retiring in May.

Ahhhh... My Dh took Natalie to his parents this morning so I have until 2:00 all to myself. Oh what to do, what to do.

Lucas looks like a little grown up!!

So there was a fire last night in the building adjacent to my library. First reports said it had spread to the library, but luckily that wasn't true. We just have a nice fireplace smell going on this morning. Luckily I had no clue until this morning when DH told me I still had a job. He said, "Some lady from the library called last night to say the library wasn't damaged in the fire." I was like WHAT!?

Lily and DH are both sick. I started getting sick a few days ago, so I was taking Zicam and I told DH to do the same. i'm fine, he's not. man I LOVE Zicam!

Okay... so I have this area upstairs at the end of the hallway that is sorta like a giant walk-in closet and one whole wall has built in cabinets w/ shelves.

I've been stashing all the stuff I get cheap for Lucas in there, since it's right outside his bedroom. Wipes, diapers, toys, etc... and also putting the Christmas presents I bought throughout the year for people in it.

So I went to make sure I got everything out and found an entire cabinet stuffed full of 6m toys I had forgotten I bought when KMart had their toy clearance.

It'll be a very merry Christmas for my boy... more toys than he'll need. I'll probably send some to my parent's house.

And it's totally bizarre to me that there is now a lady on the Moms to Be thread that has the same due date I had with Lucas. Time has flown!

Hi girls,

Please don't disown us !!! We have not been around much with the holidays coming. I am so far behind reading. I just wanted to say hi and wish all of you a Happy Holiday!!!!

Emma is loving the sound of her voice right now. She is chattering all the time and she loves to giggle at her big brother. She hates solid food and blows it right back at me in a big raspberry. DS never did that, what a mess. I think she is teething. I do not feel anything cutting yet but she has had a change in temper. We finally finished DS's big boy room and he has moved in. He is still adjusting to the change but doing well. DH does not want to move DD out of our room till after the holiday. I told him the day after Christmas she is moving to the big crib. She naps there but it gives him piece of mind when she is close.

Hope to catch up with you all soon.
Ann
