The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

Ahh the beauty of living 4,000 miles from family...no arguments about how to spend our time or running from place to place. I used to have to do that as a child, and it was tiring!

Of course the down part is we are far away from our families too. It's a blessing and a curse, but many times it feels more like a blessing...no expectations, no one is disappointed, etc!

At least I have perspective this year. I've never been so glad to live close to the gossip loving women in my family. Between my mom, grandma and aunt I have the three best babysitters a girl could ask for. The honor my wishes (as much as I know) and Lily LOVES them so I have major appreciation for them.

All DHs family does is stop over unannounced or ask DH to fix their computer. They would totally do more if they could though, so I'm not really complaining.

Crap I feel another sinus infection coming on.

I had a note in my Katie's bag today that she needed to bring a $5 gift for the gift exhange Fri. Really-at 7 mos they are exchanging gifts!:confused3:rotfl:It wouldn't really be a big deal IF they had told me last week. I don't shop during the week! After work, I just want to get to my baby!

That is a little strange, though. :confused3
I remember an old coworker of mine had her daughter in daycare. I think she was going to be 2 and they sent home a fundraiser thing- they wanted her to sell cookie dough! The money bought new toys/movies for the daycare but STILL!
My friend said we were welcome to buy some if we wanted but in general her daughter wouldn't be selling anything until she could say the name of what she was selling. :rotfl:

Our Christmas plans are definitely not as crazy as some of the ones you guys have!! We have Christmas @ my Aunt's on Christmas Eve and then we'll probably go to our neighbors. They have an open house for people to come mingle and chitchat I guess. This neighborly stuff is new to me.
Christmas morning we'll do stuff here and head to my parent's house for dinner/their presents. We'll probably arrange a time to be on the phone with my brother as we open each others gifts. Not sure how that will work with the time difference, though.. especially since Christmas for them is our Christmas Eve.
Then Sunday the 27th we'll head two hours away to DH's grandmothers house where there is absolutely no parking and she lives on top of a giant hill with a ton of other people and the road is only wide enough for one car (unless you're alright with going over the cliff:rolleyes:)... We kept offering to do it here but no one would listen. I told DH if it's snowing/icy we're (Lucas and I) not going. Her road makes me nervous on the 4th of July, much less Christmas!!! Not to mention it's 2hours one way and she is the only one that lives there. :sad2: It just makes sooo much more sense to do it in town.
(Re-reading this I realize it sounds a bit mean... but previously to my FIL's death ALL holidays were @ my MIL's which is under an hour from here. FIL lived directly between grandma and MIL so he'd go get grandma and bring her into MIL's house. It makes no sense for all of us to trek out there on dangerous roads vs. someone just bringing grandma into town.)

I am almost done with school. Phew. I finished two classes yesterday and have my final for another tonight. Then only my science lecture/lab finals on Thursday and one presentation assignment away from a finalized semester. Woohoo!

Lucas goes to the pediatrician on Friday. I'm eager to go... see how big he is and discuss a rash. This is the rash from HE LL! It's been here about two weeks. Started on his belly and spread to his diaper area. I got it to go away when I slathered calmoseptine all over him... but the next diaper change (when I thought it was gone) I didn't put any on and it came right back!
He's even starting to scratch down there as soon as I take the diaper off- last night I was searching for the new bottle of calmoseptine and when I came back he'd scratched himself so much he was bleeding. :sad1:

Hi girls. I have been out of town since last Friday, I went to my parents. We took Natalie's Christmas pictures for our Christmas cards. They turned out awesome. She just learned to sit up about a week ago. So I could sit her in the grass with the flowers in the background. Sooo cute. This was the first time she was on grass. She loved it. We have our 6 month check up on Thursday. I can't wait to see how big she is.

I have a question for everyone. I need to know if I am the only one that thinks this is weird. My FIL bought Natalie a pocket knife, a real pink one, for Christmas. Umm... she is a baby. You don't let baby's play with knives.:scared1:

I still have some shopping to do. I best get to it.

That is the weirdest gift I've heard of. :confused3

Patsy I hope Lucas feels better soon, that sounds really yucky!

Lily and I had a great day today, she was super happy. We took a nap together and one of the cats decided to join us! It was hilarious...he plopped down next to lily and was purring like mad--the purring was what actually put her to sleep. I wish someone else was around to take our picture!

The knife is weird, and I am a rural, deer hunter's wife! I was not happy when dh's brother (see all my venting posts above!) gave ds12 a knife for Christmas when he was 5 or 6! But a baby:confused3

Dh and I talked about how his family acted this past weekend, and thankfully he is in agreement with me. He started by mentioning how rough his 7 yr old niece was with her. They have 2 kids, 4 and 7, both girls. And all they talk about is wanting a boy, the next one will be a boy, etc. I don't mean mentioning it and moving on. They are obsessed with having a boy, and they are really going to mess up their girls if they don't cut out the boy talk. And besides constantly trying to feed Katie crap that she can't eat (and making fun of ds12 for not hunting 24-7), they kept handing her to dn7. I kept having to take her back, and make excuses for not letting her hold Katie. She was so rough, and they never said a word. I had to step in when dn7 tried to take Katie to play with the dog, the one that bites! No one was stopping her! Dh brought up that he didn't want dn7 holding her at his father's Christmas, so thank goodness that won't start a fight between us! I had already made up my mind that I'll be holding on to Katie that day!

I've already had to do one fundraiser for daycare. They had us sell Tshirts with the daycare name on them. Why would anyone not affiliated with the daycare want a $15 tshirt from there? I bought one for Katie, and that was it.

Patsy, I know you are ready to get out of school for the semester. I'm so glad I'm through with my class!

Ok, I am glad to see I am not the only one who thought that was an odd thing to buy a baby. I told him to hold on to it until she was at least 12. I don't like knives for any child, but maybe by then it will get lost or something. I don't think he meant any harm by it, he is just clueless.

Why do families come with so many problems? And why do they always look at the Mom as strange when we say no? December, I would be upset if someone tried to feed my baby food that she could choke on.

Well, off to bed. It is after my bedtime. Goodnight!:cloud9:

Hmmm.. so I decided to conduct an experiment last night.

I lathered Lucas up with Calmoseptine and put Pampers on him instead of the usual Huggies.

He looks a lot better this morning. Except... I'm not sure if it's just the calmoseptine doing it's job or if he was having a reaction to the Huggies...

So I put him in a Pampers this morning with zero calmoseptine and we'll see how it goes. Crossing my fingers it's something as simple as that.
Except I have a ton of Huggies that will need to go be swapped out for Pampers.. lol

Hope it works Patsy!

Any of you been to Universal? Harry Potter will be open for our next trip and I'd like to go, but I'm not sure about Universal with a 1yo...plus I bet it'll be crazy there with the opening...anyone else hoping that HP takes a big chunk of Disney's crowds away?

We are going to Universal in February so I have no experience yet but I can let you know when I come back. :thumbsup2 I am a little worried though since she will be only 8 months, one good thing is we are going with my brother and his wife and my parents so we can do a lot of baby swaps and have help. If it wasn't for the extra help I'm not even sure I would want to take her. :confused3

:thumbsup2 Yeah, that's how I feel. I think it will be too hard with just me and DH. Plus I just want to focus on her first time at WDW. Now I just have to figure out if I want to wear her and what kind of thing to get...ergo, maya wrap, ring sling...it's too much to figure out!

I bought the ERGO with this trip in mind. So far it's very comfy and easy to put on plus she seems to like it. I have used ring slings and I have a hot sling but I can't see myself wearing her like that all day, to much strain on my shoulder.

I will have to wear her a lot, my DS4(5 next week) still likes being in a stroller. :headache:

UGH! I am having serious Vinny trouble. He is standing up, and cruising along the furniture like CRAZY. He also crawled over to the little baby rocker we have, and CLIMBED up in it. Full on, standing up in the chair. :scared1: It was horrifying. BUT.. on to my problem. He wont go to sleep in his crib. He will pull himself up, and stand there and scream. He cant get back down. It is KILLING me! He is driving me batty. i dont know what to do with the kid.

\He wont go to sleep in his crib. He will pull himself up, and stand there and scream. He cant get back down.

Allie is doing the same thing although she goes to sleep okay and then wakes up in the middle of the night and does it. then she screams bc she can't get back down! It was cute the first time, but not so much anymore...

Haven't been around lately. I have battle croup and a horrible ear infection that ruptured her ear drum over the past month.

Between teething and sickness, it is WONDERFUL BIRTH CONTROL!:rotfl:

Thanks! I think it's the way to go. Luckily there's a local mom's group and one of the moms said I could borrow hers to try with Lily. Isn't that nice?

That is horrifying! I keep teeling DH that he doesn't understand how much will change when she starts moving on her own!

How terrible! I hope things are better now! I'm barely holding it together with a healthy kid, I can't imagine dealing with all of that.

On another note, Lily took a nap in her crib twice yesterday. Once for my aunt (which isn't all that unusual) but she did it once for me and DH!! He said, "Wow, this is what it feels like to have her in there!?" It only lasted 30 minutes (her normal amount), but it was really nice. We might try a little harder to get her in there next week when we're both off for Christmas.

It's just so hard to give up our current nightly routine. I'm so afraid to disturb it and go back to having crazy sleepless nights.

That's awesome. That's something you don't want to spend money one then end up not liking. :)

We have had a rough few nights. Lilliana has been waking up in the middle of the night with fevers. The strange part is she hasn't had any during the day and has been great... :confused3

Teething?

(I think it's funny that it seems like every weird thing around that age is chalked up to teething!)

That's what I was thinking, she already has her 2 bottom teeth. When DS was little they kept thinking he had ear infections when he was teething, as soon as all his teeth come in his ears cleared up and he hasn't had one since.

I think it's crazy that the first thing out of everyone's mouth is "Oh, it's just teething!"

People have been telling me that Lucas has been teething for months. Guess what? NO TEETH! :rotfl:
