So here’s my dilemma. Sigh…

I bought 200 BLT points in September 2009 with a February UY. I immediately banked my 2009 points into 2010, then made a reservation beginning late September 2010 for BLT Studio MK View, using a few more than 200 points (all of my 2009 points and a some 2010 points).

Then I got addonitis. Sigh. You see where this is going, don’t you…

I listened to the webcast and decided to buy 100 more BLT points. This means that I’ll get my 2009 points and 2010 points. With some Member Services pixie dust, I should be able to bank the 2009 points from this add-on (since it’s past my 4 month window prior to my UY). And with even more pixie dust, I might be able to get Member Services to credit back my 2010 points and take my existing reservation from my add-on 2009 points.

Let’s assume aforementioned pixie dust is sprinkled and this is not the dilemma.

Now I need to modify my late September 2010 reservation and ensure it uses more than 300 points (all of my banked 2009 points from my original purchase and my add-on) so I don’t lose any points. So initially, I just planned on adding a few more days on at BLT. Then I got to thinking (this is ALWAYS a dilemma!). Maybe I should upgrade to a BLT 1BR MK View for part of my stay. But now, with the length I could stay, maybe I should do a split stay. Maybe start out at AKV Studio SV, then transfer to BLT 1BR MK View. Or I could do it the other way around! Maybe start at AKV 1 BR SV, then transfer to BLT Studio MK View. Or there's BCV or BWV.

Which leads me to the dilemma. If I do a split stay and part of my stay is at my home (11 month) resort and part of your stay is at another (7 month) resort, what should I reserve now at BLT (before the 7 month window)? Should I book an entire stay at my home resort that I’d be completely happy with and assume I don’t get the AKV (or BCV or BWV) resort at 7 months, then modify if I do? The problem with this is if I do get AKV at 7 months, I would want a different size accommodation at BLT than what I’d book if I only stayed at BLT. So then I’d be competing with all the others at 7 months at my home resort. And while it seems like September 2010 would be “low season”, we’re really going for the F&W Festival mostly in October, so we might run into more “DVC traffic” than expected.

How does one deal with this dilemma? What am I missing? Sigh…

(I sound like Eeyore, don’t I? Sigh…) :sad2:

I started reading your post and I started getting a headache so I stopped. :goodvibes

Have your Guide provide the pixie dust for your point adjustments. They have more pull than you do. Try to have it done before you return your signed contracts or your Guide may forget who you are.

If this is or first DVC trip, you may want to lean towards staying in your home resort for the week to get the full feel for the place. Also, reports on the DIS indicate the BLT studios are pretty small in comparison to other resorts, so you may consider using the extra points for a 1BR to be sure you have space.

The monorail will get you to EPCOT easily, and you can relax the whole time without worrying about repacking and moving.

Another option would be to plan a couple vacations in the year. Use the smaller point count to book a long weekend (memorial day, MLK day, etc), instead of extending this trip. You could even try out a different resort without the inate desire to compare the two.

Have fun!
