Also, I think that ChipandDale Express (Tyler) may have updated some of the busing information and they are trying a direct bus from WL (not sharing with FtW) - if this is this true it may be a huge difference for you and your decision.

Also keep in mind that you can easily get over to the TTC by either boat, which are handicap accessible, or by bus and from there take the monorail to two of the parks. We would go over from FtW to the Contemporary and from there get to Epcot.

Castlegazer

Chip 'n Dale Express was posting about the internal resort bus between Ft Wilderness and the Wilderness Lodge that use to also go to the TTC, not all the routes at Wilderness Lodge. The Lodge still shares routes to EPCOT, Animal Kingdom and MGM with either Ft Wilderness or the Grand Floridian. The direct bus is to the Magic Kingdom only.

Also there is no boat service to TTC from Wilderness Lodge and no bus service to TTC until one hour after Magic Kingdom Park closes until 2:00am.

If I misunderstood your post I'm sorry. I just wanted to make sure everyone was clear about the transportation information.

Thank you for the information.

In your opinion, is it better to take the bus to EPCOT or a boat to the Contemp, then monorail to TTC.

DISNEYFAMILYOFFOUR

Just catch the direct bus to EPCOT is the fastest way.
I have never taken the boat over to the CR to catch the Resort Monorail then transfer to the EPCOT Monorail. We use to catch the bus to TTC then ride the EPCOT Monorail but it is no longer an option unless the Magic Kingdom closes early...(Not sure when you will be visiting WDW but if you are traveling back to Wilderness Lodge after a night at EPCOT and the MK closed early the Monorail TTC bus to Wilderness Lodge maybe an option) but if you want an adventure you could try the boat/monorail route.

Just remember your on vacation and if you have children they view riding the bus as an attraction. When traveling to the Parks via bus the Wilderness Lodge is the first stop so I have never had to stand, have always had a seat available, now if you stay until park closing it can be crowded.

Have a great trip.

Does anyone know if there are any connecting rooms at the WL and if so, how hard they are to get?

Your pictures are soooo beautiful. Made me miss WL even more! We'll be back at WDW the week before Christmas for our annual December visit. We were planning to head home on 12/22, but I just couldn't help myself -- I booked that night at the Lodge! It's only one night, but I know it will be the highlight of our trip!!

I know what you mean, If I don't stay at Wilderness Lodge I still have to visit. It just doesn't seem like a trip to WDW without the Wilderness Lodge.

Thanks for the great pics! We have never been to WDW at Christmas time and it has been 10 years since we've been to WL. I can't wait to go back.

Thanks for the Pics-- I always love seeing pics of HOME!!!! :goodvibes

Up until 5 days ago, I had never considered staying at the WL.After reading a couple of reviews and seen some fantastic pictures, we booked a courtyard room for our next trip!!!! DH and I are very excited and looking foward to our stay!!
Just like everyone else, I have a questions..many questions.....so please be kind......LOL

Question 1.
DH is a smoker :( I hate the smell of cigarretes, so, whenever we travel we stay in a non-smoking room. DH is a considerate smoker and will only smoke in the designated areas. This is our anniversary trip and I could consider staying in a smoking room to be "nice" to him, but, if the smoking rooms smell like smoke there is no way I am staying in one. Could anyone who has stayed in a smoking room tell me if they smell?

Question 2.
Will staying in a smoking room jeopardize our view? I really want a view of Bay lake.

Question 3.
If we keep our ressies as non-smoking what should I request in order to get the best view possible on a courtyard room? The only request I made was high floor, bay lake view...is this enough? I want a "romantic view" and to be honest I'm not sure what to request :confused3 I did not request a king size bed, since, we sleep comfortably on our queen bed at home and so far this year we have gotten in 2 different hotels, in diffferent cities, king accesible rooms when we requested a king size bed and I would rather have a tub.

Thanks!! :goodvibes

I have a question about WL concierge rooms - I have never stayed concierge b/c we always go on the high end dining plan so no real need for those extra snacks and such. However, we would love the other amenites (and dessert when we get back from the parks) like trip planning and ADRs (with 3 meals a day to plan).

Are there concierge rooms with a king bed? If not, I'll put concierge out of my head until we have kids and don't want a king bed.

:grouphug: Hi everyone!! Its been awhile...Ive been soooo busy. Things are good.

Im looking at 2006 for a trip to the WL..Im need a fix real bad!

I have never stayed in a smoking optional room at Wilderness Lodge so not much help...but when I was near the rooms I could smell smoke in the hallway.

Question 2.

The smoking optional rooms are located on the 6th floor North-Wing will either have a Woods View or Courtyard View both views will have the inclosed balcony so :confused3 you would have to stand to see Bay Lake if you had a Courtyard View.

My favorite Inner-Coutyard View rooms are also Lobby rooms. Most all the Inner-Courtyard Rooms have a great view of Bay Lake. I do know they have some King Size Bed rooms that aren't accessable rooms (you could request king bed with tub)

Yes concierge does have rooms with king size beds, if I where you (no children) I would book one of the Honeymoon Suites they all have kings size beds and have beautiful bathrooms with jacuzzi tubs.

Hi Beckie, :wave2:

Thanks for the heads up & invitation. :daisy:

I had trouble getting the Humphrey's Home link to work. I don't know if anyone else had trouble. I was able to get this link from your post:

Is this is your Community Bd thread?

Thanks again. :)

Hi folks! Does anybody know if the duck races are done on a set schedule and, if so, anybody know the current dates? We're going the first week of October and it sounds like fun for my DS9!

Hi everyone while I enjoy answering as many question as I can on this thread, I really would love it if everyone new to the Wilderness Lodge FAQ Thread would go back to the first page and read the first four (4) post.

This information that we have posted on page 1 has information that the WL Vets have collected over the past three years, this information is updated frequently. Our sources include present and past Cast Members that work at Wilderness Lodge, Cast Members that have driven the busses, and a few Managers.

Have fun reading the information and if you find any errors please let me know.

Dinomom96

I believe they have the Duck races several times during the week around 3:00pm and the lifegaurds run the action. Let me check my information sheet from this past June, if I can find it I'll update this post.
