The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

I'm not sure whether to ask this here or on the Restaurant Board. But anyway, we're staying at WL June 4-June 11. We usually go in September-November when it's not quite so crowded. So we were wondering about making Priority Seating/Advanced Reservations for Whispering Canyon for breakfast and/or dinner. Do I need to do that now, before we leave? Or can I wait and just make it a day or two before we want to go? Guests of WL don't get priority seating over walk-ins, do they?

I would make your PS's asap. We stayed a week during Sept and WCC was very busy, especially Sat night. No, WL guest's don't get priority seating.

We are considering staying at the WL in Sept/Oct. I was wondering about the transportation. How does it work? Do you have to share a bus with any other resorts?

Also, we will be booking a standard room. what is the best room to request? I don't really care about the view all that much but I would like a room in a good location with a balcony.

Thanks For any Help

Tracey

All WDW resorts (except for AKL) either share a bus with another resort, or make multiple stops within the resort. We found the transportation wonderful during our visit. In the am, WL was the 1st pickup with a quick stop at GF. In the PM, we shared with FW. WL also has boats. The Green launch goes WL/FW/MK (any order) and runs approx 1 hour before - 1 hour after park hours. The Blue launch, goes WL/FW/CR (any order, thought there are generally 2 running, 1 clockwise, 1 counterclockwise) and runs 6:45am - 10pm every day. CRUISEONMAGIC (diser) is a boat driver who posts quite a bit on the Dis.

I can't help you with a standard room as we stayed courtyard. All WL rooms have balconies, except for 2nd, ground level, they have patios.

We will be leaving soon for our vacation and Ihave been having nightmares about the WL. :sad2: We paid for a woods view but in my dreams we are put in a room that overlooks something that looks like a parking area. It is very disappointing. What are the chances?? I am getting owrried I don't want a view of a parking lot or service area. :sad2:

ooh nooo TAKE A DEEP BREATH - relax -
Last trip I booked woods view instead of Court and I did the same thing a week before we left - even tried to upgrade but everything else was sold out (even conceierge)
At first I was dissapointed cuz I didn't immediately 'see' anything out the window but the otter pond and the Contemporary - but my 4 yr old ds was THRILLED with the bunk so I was not about to complain!
Then at 10pm as everyone was going to be that night I heard WISHES start at MK so I got up and looked out the window - and it was soooo worth it! THen the next day we realized we could see the monorail go by - another favorite of ds's
Funny thing is that before the DIS boards I would not have even thought about it - would have been happy in a closet at the WL!
Relax and enjoy your vacation - can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!

Morning all!!!

To everyone going to the world and the Lodge....have a safe and magical trip!

We just got back from WL on May 14th. We too had a woodsview booked but to our very pleasant surprise we got a complimentary upgrade to courtyard  . It was great and the parks were pretty quiet. We are now hooked on WL. I wish you the same luck as we got.

I just got back from WL on May 13th, and reserved woods-view. When we checked in, the CM says, "Congratulations, you've been upgraded to Courtyard!" We were VERY excited. We were very let down when we got to the room only to find that the "courtyard" view was of the bike path and some trees, with a glimpse of the VWL pool. Neither of us said a word, but I could tell DD was disappointed. We went out and explored a bit, then went back to the room and sat on the balcony for a while, only to discover that nearly EVERYONE who walked by looked up at us! We were on the second floor. We enjoy our quiet and privacy quite a bit so...we called the front desk and asked if we could please have a woods-view room as we had originally booked. They were very nice about it and moved us to woods view room 4001, which was FABULOUS!!! It was at the very end of the building, and the balcony faced Bay Lake and the boat dock. We could see Wishes at night (had to lean a bit) and the Electrical Water Parade, and the boats coming and going. It was very convenient to the boat dock and Roaring Fork; we LOVED it!!!!

Hi everyone!! Slowly I'm getting throught this FAQ!

We will be staying at the WL for the first time in December! Yipee! We've stayed at the GF, Dolphin and Swan before. WL just screams Christmas to us!

We were staying at the Swan at a great rate, but decided to switch to WL since this may be our last trip to WDW during Christmas...once my DH starts teaching our trips will likely be limited to the summer months. We had to book a standard room..with the standard room we are already overbudget, so we really can't upgrade to a better view. Will we be disappointed?

You'll love the Lodge, and this site has TONS of info. Enjoy.

Key Kim!! Long to no see. Why don't I see a registration for both you and AC for the Disney Meet in Allentown, PA?? Huh huh huh?

Beth is going!! You guys are local. No excuses! :) :teeth:

Does anyone know which honeymoon suite has been turned into the new concierge lounge. Just wondering cause we are booked in one in september and requested a north view of MK

Thanks

Michael

Last I was told there would be no changes to the honeymoon suites. The lounge is taking up space that was already behind the wall and honeymoon suite closest to the concierge desk.

Still don't have an ETA to completion. Perhaps someone else has a better update?

When we were there in Feb, they we stayed in the Honeymoon suite closest to the elevator 7096-- they had begun doing wiring in the assess panel outside the room, and during the day, you would have to walk over them. THey said that the changes would not effect any of the HM Suites. I don't know if that helps anyone. :flower:

I have a question.....This resort looks beautiful with lots of fun things to do...no question there....BUT...If we are backing up to a cruise and doing a lot in a little time AND we live in beautiful Colorado where we camp etc. Do you think this is the resort for us, or is our money better spent somewhere else? (Can you say run on sentence :goodvibes )
Thanks all!

It depends upon your own personal preference...if ya wanna be REMINDED of home, then go for it. On the other hand, if you are on vacation to "get away", wouldn't you want to experience something that you don't usually get to do??? [here's where the :duck: flaming begins..... :teeth: !] I would say, try AKL, you won't be disappointed! And, may I add, that I am the "Keeper of the WL FAQ thread"! (consider the AKL the 'baby brother' of the WL!)

Thanks for the advice. That is kindof what I was thinking but DH liked this one, esp for all the close amenities. I appreciate the honesty and will gladly throw myself in front of you to block the flying tomatoes!

...volunteering to be my 'shield'! Hey, didja check out my link???
