Yeah I remember. You were helping me with meet stuff in the beginning right?

Yes........you also got in touch with me when we had to cancel our January/05 trip.

Has anyone gotten back to you on the WL concierge and the Jr. Suite?

Have a great day!

Only 20 day's till our first stay at the Wilderness Lodge. I can not wait. :Pinkbounc I am already feeling the dread of having to leave the WL to come back home.
I love this thread and all the info I have been able to get from it! Thanks!

I'm leaving for Disney on Thursday morning - 10:15am flight from Toronto to Orlando and at 2pm I'll be checking in to Wilderness Lodge for the first time since our stay 8 years ago. I just can't wait!!!! I swear, today and tomorrow will be longer than any other days

Fortunately, I feel like I know you all already. I have to chime in as most others have that you all are the nicest bunch I have encountered on these or any other forums.

Can You Make requests at the Villas like you can at the Lodge? I am really not sure how room assignment or anything else for that matter works at the Villas. Any Info would be appreciated. Thanks!!
Yes, if you may request a non-smoking room, be sure to tell them it's is for a medical reason. I would request a room close to the elevators over looking the pool. You never know you may receive all your request.

Also, does anyone have any insight on the Villas? We're thinking of renting points, and maybe use this trip to determine whether to buy into DVC. Does anyone have any idea about which room locations are best at the VWL? Should we stay in the Lodge instead?

While I love both the Lodge and the Villas. I am a DVC Member and own over at the Villas so I do love them a little more. :earsboy: As I told Bobbie Ann I believe that near the elevators, non-smoking will give you a good location, most all the views over at the Villas are the same WOODS so it's the luck of the assignment. Below is link that will take you to a lay-out with all the villas and their locations. ( just to give you an idea of how they are set-up) Just click on the link:

hi
someone mentioned resort hopping/moving..
how is this done easily without taking up a fairly large portion of your day...
AND does anyone really suggest it? We aren't sure if it made the vacation seem more rushed or broken up?

One more question...we are considering Dec 7-14th and see it is booking up fast...does the resort seem overly crowded at this time of year? what about the parks?

Thanks in advance...still doing our research and DROWNING in it! :confused3

We switched resorts for the first time during our June 2004 trip....3 days at AKL, then over to the Poly for the remainder of the trip. It was painless...took maybe 2 hours max and that was by our choice - after our bags were ready at AKL, we called bell services, said we needed our bags moved to Poly...they arrived within 5 minutes (and this was before 9 a.m.)....tagged the bags (every resort has it's own color tag for this purpose) and took them out. Told us they would be at Poly by 3, maybe earlier, but guaranteed by 3. We immediately drove over to Poly and checked in(so maybe a total of 30-45 minutes, including drive time). Thought my options for my requests were better if I checked in early. Room wasn't ready, but my requests were noted and I was told my room was in the area I requested (and it turned out it was)....so we checked in and went to the parks....came back around 3 for a break, bags were there, bell services drove us to the longhouse, etc.....so painless we are doing it again next month....this time from WL to Poly....hope it is as smooth this time.

My Dh said we would NEVER do it - too much work...
well this last trip we drove and got their a day early and dh wouldn't stay anywhere BUT a Disney resort and I refused to pay rack rate for the WL when we were getting in at night so we opted to stay at POFQ..
we had our own car so it was even easier!
We went to breakfast - changed into bathing suits, packed up the car and went to the pool.... went to lunch at dtd.... then drove over to wl and checked in!
I was excited cuz I got to try something different than the WL (made me really apreciate the wl too!)

Welcome!

I can help with part of your question. My DD (age 8) and I were at the WL from Dec 9-13 of last year and it was a great time to be at WDW!!! We didn't find the WL crowded at all- except for the Sunday morning (12/12) we tried to eat at Whispering Canyon without a PS- we had a rather long wait. That was the only main meal I didn't make a PS for because we wanted to be more flexible.

We hit MK, MGM and Epcot and didn't find these parks particularly crowded. Minimal wait times on rides. MGM got a bit busy late in the afternoon on that Friday due to a Pop Warner event going on- but again, didn't impact our day.

The weather was very mixed that week- some pretty cool evenings, rain and then warm and sunny. Just pack lots of layers and bring sweatshirts/pants for evening outings.

It was fun to be at the WL with it all decorated for the holidays.

Happy Planning!!

Hi everyone. What a great thread. Does anyone know if Woody the waiter still works at WCC? Also what time do the boats stop running between WL and MK and WL and CL? We haven't been there since Feb 01 and it would sure be nice to see Woody again. We will be there June 10 to june 18 THanks in advance

I don't know if Woody is still there, but you MUST ask for "Bobby the Kid"! I have eaten there atleast a dozen times on 4 different visits to WDW and have never had an experience like our last visit last summer! HE IS INSANE...in a good way! :rotfl:

We just got back from the WL and we loved it!

My wife had mentioned that it was our anniversary (when we booked) and the first morning a CM knocks on our door with three ballons and a card of Magic Kingdom wishing us a magical anniversary, it was a very nice touch.

We at breakfast at Whispering Canyon, what a hoot. Those poor people requesting Ketchup, 'worse' yet, the person caught trying to 'steal' one from one of the tables that requested it. Very funny stuff.

Sadly, it was a short trip (only two nights instead of 8, due to a medical family emergency). But I would highly recommend the WL.

Actually, I do have one complaint, as mentioned above, we had to leave the hotel much earlier than planned... WL was not very helpful in helping us plan our trip back to the airport, not in the least. The number they gave for ME was no help, as it is not available during the weekend, and the valet/bellhops said that they couldn't help us with that. They only suggestions they made was for us to take a Towncar or taxi back to the airport, without saying which made more sense than the other. With the stress we were already under, this was not very helpful, nor was the taxi fare.

But, other than that, we still recommend the resort.

Battykoda -
sorry to hear your stay got shortened :guilty:
Hope everyone is well now...

We LOVE Whispering Canyon (I wish they would have caught the guy next to us who grabbed one of our 20 or so bottles!)
Glad you had a great time!

That was sooo kewl that they did that for your anniversary...

We have our courtyard room booked for October 20-24! Yay! :sunny: I requested inner courtyard/king bed.

Here are my questions:

1. We have APs. What sort of discount should I expect IF discounts are released?

2. What floors are designated as CY view for innercourtyard?

3. Is there a detailed map of WL rooms? I have seen the WL layout map, but it doesn't show room locations. I see people talking about north and south wing rooms and have no idea what the reference is.

4. Does WL have room service? If so, what should I expect (prices, selection).

5. I have read about transportation in MANY threads. I am still confused (I know, I know...). Can someone help me with this?!?! PLEASE??? :confused3

I think that is it for now. DH and I are very excited about this stay (our 1st WL and 1st delux stay). This was DH's 2nd pref (not ready to do Poly yet since it is the top of our list- I want to work our way up ;) ) and I want it to be perfect for him (celebrating our anniversary and his birthday.

Sorry about the shortening of your trip. I LOVE the Whispering Canyon, DH always gets caught stealing ketchup.... he says its part of the "FUN". Glad you got some fairy dust on your anniversary. :cheer2:

We are considering staying at the WL in Sept/Oct. I was wondering about the transportation. How does it work? Do you have to share a bus with any other resorts?

Also, we will be booking a standard room. what is the best room to request? I don't really care about the view all that much but I would like a room in a good location with a balcony.

Thanks For any Help

Tracey
