You guys are double teaming me, but it's making it easier to answer your questions
All smoking optional rooms are located on the NorthWing sixth floor, and they are all located in the same area. The even # rooms starting with Room 6034 are on the left side of the hallway and they are Woods View the odd # rooms starting with Room 6031 are inner Courtyard View. To reach these rooms the easiest way is to use the elevators just down from Roaring Fork. If you read my direction to the great view of the fireworks you'll notice this is the same route. The closer to room 6034 the better view of the
MAGIC KINGDOM, as the futher down the hall you go (east) you are moving away from the MK. As you exit the elevator the first room will be 6034, then 6032, 6030, 6028, these rooms also overlook the otter pond. When making reservations the
MAGIC KINGDOM view isn't an option as the views are dependent on tree growth. I can't imagine a guest's reaction if they thought they would have a view of the MK only to find a large tree obstructing the entire view, so not an option. Many
CM's have never visited the Lodge (some don't even live in Florida) so if it isn't on the list it doesn't exist, but we know it does.
Due to the hurricanes this past year, the storms greatly reduced the number of trees separating the Lodge and the CR, while you still have the backwoods atmosphire there are also many more views of the Castle and
WISHES. Watching the fireworks is why most request this view, I think I loved going out on the balcony early before sunrise and watching the Castle changing colors from blue, purple, pink more then the fireworks, this was just beautiful.
I have never stayed in one of the smoking rooms so I don't know what they smell like, I do feel most people do go out on the balconys to smoke when staying at the resort but you never know.
When making my room reservation I would request Woods View NorthWing overlooking the otter pond, Smoking optional 6th floor. Denise also add bunk bed request for your room. (if they question you just say the room assigner will understand)
Please Note: The Views of the
MAGIC KINGDOM are in no way equal to the views from the Poly or the CR. It's more like peeking through the trees and finding a Fairytale Castle in the distance, a pleasant surprise.
