Wanting to stay at WL in early December. What is the best room for a courtyard view? Ok all of them are probably good rooms, so I am wanting your opinions of rooms that you have stayed in that had a courtyard view. :earboy2:

We are staying at WL for a couple nights to start our honeymoon in September and have booked a honeymoon suite (or room what ever they call it). What is the best area to request for a view of MK for wishes cause I'm not sure how many honeymoon suites there is. Thanks in advance

There are 4 honeymoon suites, all four are off the main lobby on the 7th floor (concierge). Two look out over the Villas and the other 2 look out over MK. Just request MK view and or/North side :)

 Hi, when I visited Concierge last May the Manager at Wilderness Lodge gave us a mini-tour of the honeymoon suites, the set-up is wonderful they have the King-size bed and the bathrooms with the tubs are beautiful.

All four suites are off the Lobby, I would request the North side of the Lodge so you can enjoy the view of the Magic Kingdom and WISHES fireworks from the balcony.

Gamblers

My favorite Courtyard View rooms are located on the 4th floor, also located off the Lobby. "Love them" My second fav are located in the South Wing just past the second set of elevator banks halfway down the hall on the second or third floor. But all the rooms are great.

I knew I couldnt go to FL and not stay at the Lodge at least for a few nights. I want to try Beach Club too. I just got off the phone and switched our first 3nights at Riverside to Wilderness Lodge. On Mon I will try to switch our last 6nights to the BCV from VWL. If thats not avail we will only have to switch to the villas from the lodge for our vacation.
I mean the Lodge is only $50/night more than a moderate! So as DH says "open the wallet, stay where you want to stay"

That's great! :) Your DH sounds like my DH. :earboy2:

Thanks to some great advice from some very nice people, I've decided to try to book WL for my next trip. Don't laugh when you look at my countdown timer! "Hi my name is Andrea and I'm a obsessive and possibly compulsive trip planner!!"

Anyway, I read through the first 30 pages of this wonderful FAQ thread without finding the answers to my questions and being the impatient person that I am, I am throwing caution to the wind and hoping that some of you may not mind answering a couple of questions that have probably been answered about a million times already!!

Here it goes: What is the difference (besides price) between standard and woodsview rooms? The answer is probably as obvious as it seems! Also, I am a TDS cm that has never paid rack rate but no longer receives resort discounts so I really need advice on the best way to get a decent rate; AP, code or just dumb luck? Can anyone remember what kinds of rates they received for late Sept./early Oct.?

Thank you in advance for all of your help!!

Hi

Don't worry about asking a question you couldn't find the answer to...
What is the difference (besides price) between standard and woodsview rooms?

STANDARD ROOMS: All Non-Smoking rooms with 2 Queen Beds.
Located on Floors 4,5 & 6. On the North(MK) side, they face the service area. There are also 4th floor rooms that overlokk the lobby and look out to roof peaks. Lobby rooms do have balconies.

WOODS VIEW: These rooms are located above the front desk on floors 5 & 6. North side woods view rooms are on floors 1-6 and face the "otter pond"(a handful face MK). Floors 4,5 & 6 above Whispering Canyon are Woods View Lobby rooms.

When available I always book a standard room, because the discount rates are so good. Upgrades are frequently given at the Lodge from one room type to the next. Say if you book standard view you may be upgraded to Woods...if you book a woods view you may be upgraded to a courtyard view. But never expect a upgrade. We just ask for :wizard: PIXIE DUST :wizard: for our trips.

Can anyone remember what kinds of rates they received for late Sept./early Oct.? They had some great public codes last year during this time, available to everyone but you have to watch the boards and Mousesavers and call as soon as they are issued to receive them. The dates you have may span two seasons late September is Value Season and I was able to use a code last September for a standard view for $109.00 a night for standard view this was a Florida Resident Rate which is the same as AP rate. The General discount rate was appx $5.00 more.
I can't remember the rates for Oct because I didn't visit during regular season. If anyone else did I'm sure they will post.

2005 Seasons
Value Season: 1/1 - 2/16, 7/5 - 10/4, 11/27 - 12/19
Regular Season: 4/17 - 7/4, 10/5 - 11/26

Hope this helps.

Thank you sooo much for such specific answers!!! I really want a woodsview so I probably better just book one! I get the mousesavers newsletter so I'm sure to see something when codes come out and who knows what kinds of new things they'll come up with by the time my trip rolls around!!

Hey I have another question. Do smoking rooms really reek like smoke? My dh smokes but I do not (neither do my 8 and 9 y.o. dd's) so I really worry about booking a smoking room. He never smokes indoors only outside but I know even that can bother non-smoker's so I wouldn't feel comfortable booking non-smoking. Any thoughts on this dilemma?

Hi there, we're leaving for our first WDW trip in just 5 days! We're booked at the WL for a woods view room, smoking (DH is the smoker, and after over 10 years of marriage I've learned it's much better to be happy and enjoy each other, even if our time will be shorter, than to fight about it! ). Our other requests were for a bunk bed room, and an upper floor (I also asked about a view of the castle, but was told no rooms offered this. I don't believe that's true, hence my coming here).

First, can I just say that while I've been purusing the dis boards for the last month or so, I only came upon this thread today, and after reading all 56 pages (!!) I'm so sorry I didn't find it sooner. What a great bunch of WL lovers there are here!

OK, here's my question...after reading some of the earlier posts, it seems that smoking rooms are all on the 6th floor. Are they all located in one wing (i.e. if we have woods view, smoking, does that almost guarantee us a view of MK, or is that hoping too much?)? If they're not all in one spot, what would be my best bet for getting an MK view..should I call back and try to re-do our room request with a different CM or just leave things alone until we get there and then request at check-in?

Thanks for any help! I'm hoping someone out there knows the answer, probably not too many others out there request smoking rooms any more!

 DisneyFan09....I think it is just hilarious, that of all questions asked OURS were typed up and posted almost at the same time about much the same issue :earboy2:

Actually, I feel a bit better knowing I'm not the only one with a smoking husband in the family!

You guys are double teaming me, but it's making it easier to answer your questions

All smoking optional rooms are located on the NorthWing sixth floor, and they are all located in the same area. The even # rooms starting with Room 6034 are on the left side of the hallway and they are Woods View the odd # rooms starting with Room 6031 are inner Courtyard View. To reach these rooms the easiest way is to use the elevators just down from Roaring Fork. If you read my direction to the great view of the fireworks you'll notice this is the same route. The closer to room 6034 the better view of the MAGIC KINGDOM, as the futher down the hall you go (east) you are moving away from the MK. As you exit the elevator the first room will be 6034, then 6032, 6030, 6028, these rooms also overlook the otter pond. When making reservations the MAGIC KINGDOM view isn't an option as the views are dependent on tree growth. I can't imagine a guest's reaction if they thought they would have a view of the MK only to find a large tree obstructing the entire view, so not an option. Many CM's have never visited the Lodge (some don't even live in Florida) so if it isn't on the list it doesn't exist, but we know it does.

Due to the hurricanes this past year, the storms greatly reduced the number of trees separating the Lodge and the CR, while you still have the backwoods atmosphire there are also many more views of the Castle and WISHES. Watching the fireworks is why most request this view, I think I loved going out on the balcony early before sunrise and watching the Castle changing colors from blue, purple, pink more then the fireworks, this was just beautiful.

I have never stayed in one of the smoking rooms so I don't know what they smell like, I do feel most people do go out on the balconys to smoke when staying at the resort but you never know.

When making my room reservation I would request Woods View NorthWing overlooking the otter pond, Smoking optional 6th floor. Denise also add bunk bed request for your room. (if they question you just say the room assigner will understand)

Please Note: The Views of the MAGIC KINGDOM are in no way equal to the views from the Poly or the CR. It's more like peeking through the trees and finding a Fairytale Castle in the distance, a pleasant surprise.

So sorry denisekayt

I should have said this first thing.....WELCOME to the DIS

Thank you so much Beckie! Great info :D I think now I'll relax and just go with the room we're given. I'll be perfectly happen with either woods view (what we're paying for), or the inner courtyard view (if they choose to give us that)!

I think I'm more excited than my 6 yr old...FINALLY, we can start actually packing our suitcases this weekend! (we leave on Wednesday :cool1: )

Thanks again for the great information!!! Now I just have to figure out how to make my countdown timer move a little faster!! :badpc:

Today we are in the middle of a blizzard with 28 inches of snow and we still have 7 more hours left of the storm. Normally this would depress me but not when I am going to WDW next Sunday. People have been saying that it has been cold at the world but it is 10 degrees here. Low 60's sounds like heaven to me. I can't wait to walk into the Lodge.

Wow your trip is soon. And mine is right after yours. :cool1: I am getting so excited. Hope to see you there.
Debbie

HEY  !!! I'm getting very excited, too! We'll be leaving the Lodge on Thursday, February 10, at about 7:30 PM, so I do hope to see you there. I think we'll visit MK in the morning and possibly visit resorts that day. See you around!

:wave2:

What is the size of the boat that takes you to MK? I have been on the large ferry before and I have seen some small boats that look to hold around 20. Can you roll a stroller onto one?
