Starting Sunday, November 14th (no posted end date), Disney Transport will be testing out a new route for the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness.

Currently, there is a bus from the Transportation & Ticket Center to Wilderness Lodge, and Fort Wilderness. As of Sunday, this bus will no longer exist.

Instead, there will be DIRECT BUS SERVICE from Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom.

The Fort Wilderness "Orange" bus that would previously head to Wilderness Lodge and onto the Transportation & Ticket Center will now only head to the Wilderness Lodge.

Guests who wish to go to either of these resorts will need to use the Magic Kingdom as thier transfer point.

After the Magic Kingdom clears for the night, the original route will resume.

BOAT SERVICE WILL NOT CHANGE.

And most importantly, as of Sunday, THERE WILL BE NO DISNEY RESORT BUSES OF ANY KIND AT THE TRANSPORTATION & TICKET CENTER.

It should also be noted that, as a test, this is all subject to change at any time without notice.

Wow Beckie,

Thanks for the news update.

I hope it catches on, it would be great to have the choice of taking the bus or the boat.

Have a great day. :D

Oh no! So, does that mean, if one wishes to travel from resort to resort, they must do so by catching a bus to DTD and transferring THERE instead??

I feel bad, I liked the new service at first. But, I think I'm not understanding.

I thought it was that there will now be a bus directly from WL to the Magic Kingdom? Is that true?

I didn't realize about going to the other resorts.

You will need to catch the new direct bus to Magic Kingdom then either ride the Resort Monorail to the other Monorail Resorts (walk to CR) These where the only resorts that will be effected. You can also ride the new bus to Magic Kingdom then catch a bus to any resort or catch the Monorail to the EPCOT Station to ride the monorail to EPCOT.

Kimmar,

There are no other Resort buses that go to TTC anymore DTD is the only transfer spot after the Parks close.

After the Park (MAGIC KINGDOM) closes the WL/FT. WildernessCampground/TTC will resume the original route.

I'm thinking that sounds okay. It might be nice to have the option of a direct bus to MK, and we could catch buses to the other resorts there. It adds one more "leg" to the trip if you want to monorail to Epcot, though. This will be my first trip to WL, so I'm not used to the "old" way. That probably makes it easier for me to accept the "new" way.

Yeah but I don't get it. There is already an exclusive way to get to the MK from WL and that is by boat. Not many other resorts have this ability. We have never used a bus to get to MK simply for that reason. It's a nice ride to boot!

We only used buses for MGM and AK.

Is the TTC going to be MK and Epcot only now?

Epcot was always shuttle boat to CR then MR to TTC then switch trains to Epcot. Of course, as I have said before....with all that it would be just as fast to walk over to the TTC. :)

But couldn't you have taken Bus to TTC, monorail to Epcot? (I know there's a bus to Epcot, but the MR is more fun. ;) ) Now I would have to do it either your way as you said above, or boat/bus to MK, MR to TTC, MR to Epcot? Makes just taking the bus to Epcot seem more attractive, lol. ;)

Maybe that's why they are doing it??? :)

Yes we could have taken a bus to the TTC but we liked doing it the other way.

Now there is no choice.

Betsy,

None of the boat services are changing we will still have the smaller Blue Flag Boats going to the two resorts (CR & Ft. Wilderness Campground)and the Green Flag Boat to the Magic Kingdom.

The Inter-Resort Bus will now take you directly to the Magic Kingdom, cutting out an additional step for people with Special Needs that under the old system would have to ride the bus to TTC then transfer to the Monorail to have a alternate means to get there if the water level effected their ECV. One more step for us if riding the Monorail to EPCOT, but less hassle for Special Needs which is why the bus route is there anyway.

I ment if you where going to CR it would be faster to walk then go to the Monorail Station at the MK and ride to the CR. (sorry )

Betsy,

Since you'll be there next week, you'll have to check out the "new" system and let us know how it worked for you! I wonder why they felt the need to change (?).

I just returned home from a 4 day solo trip (I stayed @ POP which was very busy!). I visited WL and CR - both are getting dressed for the Holidays. I'd be going thru a serious depression right now if we weren't going back next month!!

Beckie,

I "ate & drank" my way around the World too! Wasn't it awesome?! I'm already planning a trip there next October!

Thanks for clarifying! That really doesn't sound bad at all. As far as the extra Epcot step, now that I've thought about it, that's not really a big deal either. I most likely wouldn't do that if I wanted to be there at opening anyway...more likely for going in the afternoon, in which case a boat ride and transferring monorails would actually make the trip more enjoyable! It's all in how you look at it, huh? :teeth: Heck...I'm going to the WL -- it's ALL good as far as I'm concerned! ;)

I loved it and we have already started planning for next year also.

Am I understanding? Can we walk from the WL to the TTC and to CR? Where do you walk?

I know you can walk to Ft. Wilderness but I didn't know you could do it to the other places. Please let me know. :D

You could walk, but you might want to pack a picnic...you would have to cross World Drive to get to TTC and along it to go to CR...Too much walking for me...plus, the way the busses drive, I would be afraid...very afraid!

I must say, I'm thrilled for those with Electric chairs! It will be more convenient for them.
And I love the idea of being able to take the bus to MK, especially if you miss that first boat in the morning.:D

Oh, OK. Thanks, Betsy. We do enough walking when we are there.

You are right about those busses though. They don't mess around, they get you to your destination.

Sometimes it is an adventure when you have to stand. Marcel and I just laugh so hard because I usually loose my balance. :p

Thanks, again. :D
