No need to save on cab fare for this one. It's like $5 plus tip. Less than a 5 minute ride if you don't get the traffic light. :)

I would do the cab if it was me. :)

Thank you -- it would be great if we could save the cab fare when we can!

If you have a chance, could you give me your advice re: Kona -- I do know the walking distances, etc., that are involved -- would you take the boat to CR, walk to monorail, and ride to Poly? Or, assuming they are still running buses from WL directly to MK, would you bus it to MK and monorail to Poly from there?

I know it's bus only to AK, and then of course boat to MK for Crystal Palace....

Thanks for reminding me what I OFTEN forget -- it's really OK to be a couple of minutes late. Given how early we're eating, I realize that I don't even really need the Kona ADR -- but I just get so carried away with planning AND with my Mary-Poppins urge to be "practically perfect in every way" (doesn't that mean always being on time?).

46 :hourglass days until our first stay at the WL. Here's my question... We have tickets to MVMCP on Nov. 29. We plan on playing in a park (undecided about which one right now) and then going back to our room at WL early afternoon. Before the party, we have an ADR at 'Ohana's at 5:00. What is the best way to get there? :confused3

Thanks ahead of time :)

Hey Fred -- good point! I really DO make life more complicated for myself than I need to, sometimes. Can't wait to become the WL fan that you are! Thanks--

Again, I would take a cab. The Poly is sooooo close to WL by car. It's like $5 plus tip. Less than a 5 minute ride if you don't get the traffic light.

(Do you hear an echo????) :teeth:

I recommend this route because you state you are doing a park THEN coming back to WL. Not sure what time MVMCP starts but taking the boat to the contemporary then hopping the monorail will take a little while and requires some walking.

I would, based on my own experiences last week, get to Ohana at least 20 minutes prior to your AR time. The new menu there is ok. I miss the spicy shrimp. The sausage is not for me. Also miss the ginger celantro sauce for dipping and the pineapple with caramel for desert.

Oh yeah, if you can, make as many AR's as you can way in advance. We were unable to get more than two and had to do walkup for many of the restaraunts while we were there last week. The resorts were all loaded.

Is a boat from the WL also an option to the Poly or Contemporary?

The boat to the Contemporary and then the "resort" monorail is the easiest way to get to Poly.

You can take a bus to MK and then take the "resort" monorail, but that seems like a longer route.

There are no busses from resort to resort.

What a fascinating thread. I have never considered the WL before. It sounds wonderful. Perhaps our next trip we will stay here.

For this trip, we are booked at the BC. We are spending a day at AK and then we have ADR at the Hoop Dee Doo at 7:15 PM. So we have some time since AK closes at 5 PM. We will have a car and I think we should come check out WL and then make our way to dinner.

How do we get from WL to HDD? Can we leave our car and actully one member of the party that wants to relax and have a CS dinner on his own, Roaring Forks perhaps?; and make our way to HDD from WL?

you can take the boat from WL to the HDD.

who ever stays behind should check out Wispering Canyon for dinner or even Artist Point which is more upscale. Roaring Forks is more of a food court type atmosphere but smaller than those at some of the other hotels.

There is a direct boat from the WL to the Contemporary, or take the boat from WL to MK and then walk or take the monorail to the Contemporary or the Poly.

You could also take a boat to the MK and then take a boat to the Poly, but it stops at the GF first.

I would take a cab if I am in a hurry from WL to Poly.

@Twende...ooops....sorry. I read you post too quickly. You said the person staying behind wanted to do a CS restaurant. Yes...Roaring Forks is the place for CS at the WL.

Thanks for the pictures Fred! I really appreciate it!

By the way, I noticed that you stayed on the 6th floor but had concierge access. Can you book any room in the hotel but have access to the concierge level? Do you just pay an extra fee? I did not realize when booking our trip that this was an option. I knew I should have visited this board pre-booking. LOL

Lisa

I was wondering if anyone knows the answer to this. Thanks!

Fred and all the rest of you wonderful folks out there, thank you for this thread!

I just now made reservations at WL for next year, based on large part from all the great things that have been said about this resort.

I know this vacation will be wonderful, especially since WL "veterans" are so friendly and share so much great information.

Thanks all!!

Long time lurker, but first time poster here on DIS. This is a great thread. Our next trip (in April/May 06) was going to be at either the Yacht Club or Boardwalk, but at the last minute I decided to book the Wilderness Lodge. After reading this thread, I know I made the correct Decision!

Only six more months!

Just back from WL, Still love it but, our room had a weird smell, at first we thiught it was smoke but then we think it is like a musty smell. I also noticed a strange smell to the water, I don't know if it is just different from NJ water or what. We did not complain or asked to be moved so it was not that bad. everyone is very nice and we still love the lodge, We were on the 6th floor. Anyone else notice the water thing or is it just me?

I am interested in getting my daughter the Wilderness Lodge Lincoln Log set during our visit there this December. What can you tell me about it?

I would be happy with any information you know and here are some specific questions too:
What is the cost?
How big is it?
Does it come with characters?
Age range?

Thanks!

There are some rooms that are facing directly to the lake and the entrance doors open up to face the lobby. Does anyone know what room type these are? For some reason I thought I read they were considered lobby view even though they also faced the courtyard. Do you know the room numbers?
