The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY! Part 2

My family currently has reservations for Coronado Springs for May, but my husband hates the idea of relying solely on bus transportation, especially at park closing time. I suggested WL, but before we decide, he has a few questions.

WL has a bus that goes to and from the TTC, correct? When we are at EPCOT at closing, would we be able to take the monorail to the TTC and then a bus back to the WL?

Also, how much bus sharing do we do with other resorts? It seems there is a different answer at everywhere I read.

Thanks!

The WL bus doesn't go to the TTC, it goes directly to the MK's bus stop.

To get from Epcot at closing to WL, your best bet is to take the WL bus directly back, with one exception. IF you were there on a night that MK closes later than Epcot (EMH or not) and IF you wanted to do a little bit with MK before going back to WL, then take the monorail over to MK via the TTC.

Bus sharing depends on a variety of factors including how busy things are, where you're going TO, etc. When we were at WL in early October 2007, we shared a bus 80% of the time with Fort Wilderness, 20% direct, as far as we remember.

Enjoy the Magic!

We leave in 19 days. I can't wait! Our first time at the WL. By the way, we will be checking in early around 9am to get our tickets and then go to AK. Would you experts suggest driving our car to AK or taking the bus? We won't be able to unload the car in the morning since I'm sure our room will not be ready yet.

You can still unload the car without a room being ready. Simply tell the bellhops that you need to store your luggage til you get your room key. They will put it all on a luggage cart, tag it, and give you claim tickets. They then keep it in locked storage until you call for it when you get back from the park.
Can't help with the rest of your question just yet. We arrive in 6 days.

You could take the monorail to CR, and the boat to WL.

We are planning on boating it to CR to catch the monorail to get to Epcot - how much work is that? Is it any better/worse than taking the bus?
TIA!

The bus will be much faster!

In order to make this work you would have to wait on boat to CR then wait for the monorial at CR then transfer at the TCC to the Ecpot monorail and wait for that.

So in other words, if you just want the experience this is a fine plan. But if you are planning on a quick trip to Ecpot.... I'd take the bus or drive.

Bus bus bus! LOL That transfer at the TTC is a pain. Plus it is quite a hike from the boat to the actual monorail at the Contemporary.

Doh... I didn't think about the TTC!! Thanks!

Looks like we'll be there the same time as you :)

OMG I didn't notice your ticker..... we are so excited and ready to go :cool1:

Our first full week at the lodge since our first stay in WDW :cloud9:

Sure this has been asked and couldn't get the search to work..but does WL have a laundry service? TIA!! 17 more days!!!! WOOHOO!

I will be there the same time as you. We are doing the Christmas party on December 11. I booked a courtyard view so look for the LGMH's.

Yes, but it is quite costly. If I recall correctly it was some astronomical fee like $3 or more for a shirt! :scared1: Much cheaper to do it yourself in the laundry room if you have many items to wash. :laundy:

Hello all WL fans! I'm so excited that we are planning a trip to WL for April 2009. I've always wanted to stay here. We are DVC members but are saving up points for a stay in a grand villa in October of that year so we'll be staying here on cash.

Anyways, this trip will be a special one as we are planning to go the week after Easter (which falls on April 12). The 15th is my sister's birthday, and the 15th is also our family's Adoption or "Gotcha" Day - that's the anniversary of the day that we first met my niece Hannah. It was such a blessing that they fell on the same day - you can imagine what a birthday gift that was.

My question is this: we want this trip to be special. We've never been to Disney over my sister's birthday, and Hannah just joined our family in 2006. We'd love to have a view of the MK. I saw on the WL FAQ thread that room #5032 has a great view. That said, we don't expect THAT exact room, but knowing that we want a view of the MK, do you have suggestions of what we should request? I'm assuming there's no way to view both the lake and the MK, right?

And since this is a special trip, could I put these two events on the reservation and hope that they do something special to the room? I really, REALLY want this to be a magical thing for them (I'll be there too). I'm planning on arranging for a diver at Coral Reef (if that's where they choose to go) and making tee shirts that say something like "Today is the anniversary of the day we became a forever family" for the three of us to wear around the parks that day.

So, any tips on what to suggest? I'd love to hear them (as well as any other ideas about special things do on the trip, although I'll probably post that question on the Restaurants/Theme Parks board so as not to take this thread off track).

Thanks! I'm SO EXCITED about our first stay at WL in 2009!

Here are a few positives about the WL bus service:

When being picked up the bus always stops at the WL first so you get an empty bus and always get a seat.

When being dropped off, the WL is also always the first stop when going back to the resorts.

The WL has a direct bus to MK. It is very quick and is a good alternative to the boat if you would rather get to MK quickly in lieu of a more relaxing ride.

We are definately going to try bus service out this trip. i am sure being with older kids it may be great but a 20 minute ride with a toddler who doesn't want to sit is horrid. So I am gladto hear they have a direct to the MK and that the stops are first from the others. I know we did use it last time coming from Epcot and got right back.

Hey there donaldsgal!:wave2:

It sounds as if you have a lovely trip planned. Your t-shirt idea sounds adorable.

You'll love the Lodge! To get a good view of MK and the fireworks I would request an upper floor on the North wing overlooking Beaver Pond.

We have breakfast ressies for O'Hana at 8:40, before our Epcot day. I'm thinking we'll drive to the Poly, then monorail it over to Epcot? My kids adore the monorail, they'd be heartbroken if we skipped it!!

The only problem with that is you can't leave your car in the Poly parking lot all day. I would take the boat to MK or Contemporary (which ever arrives first) and then the monorail to Poly and on to Epcot after breakfast.
