We do have coffeemakers in the room, right? My question is do they give you filters/coffee each day? We are going to bring our own coffee (DH is picky) but wondered if I need to bring filters too or if they are provided.
The coffee makers are the small 4-cup style. The coffee is prepackaged inside the filter so there aren't any individual filters.

Yes ::yes:: if you bring your coffee bring your filters.

Another coffee hint:

If your DH is really picky. Use either filtered water (from a filter pitcher) or use bottled water. At first, I used water from the tap and the coffee was horrible. And I brought Starbucks coffee to use. I then tried it with the bottled water and it was wonderful.

Also, before you use the coffee maker. Wash it out and make a run with just water. Sometimes, they are not used for a while and it is kind of dusty inside. But once, they are washed, it is fine. :)

Thanks for the tips - yes DH is a Starbucks person and it must be STRONG! :coffee:

Hey guys, I haven't been to this thread since I came back last month, but let me just say I LOVE THE WL!!!!! I was so surprised, because I'm really not into "woodsy" type things, but now I know why so many people go back to the WL! I also loved being the first bus stop (or one of the firsts) at majority of the parks! I took so many pictures, and swam in the pool practically every day! I can't say enough nice things about it!! For christmas, we're giving AKL a shot, so i'm eager to compare the two and see which one I like best, let me tell you WL is hard to beat!

We had a woodsview, and I was dissapointed no upgrade at check in, but it ended being great. First off, we were right around the corner from the elevators, and second, Michael really enjoyed waking up with the paper and going outside to the peace and quiet!

Thanks for the great photos, love this one with Jack. (CM) Hope you enjoyed Flag Family. I have 6 days until we'll be back at the Lodge, for F&WF and MNSSHP.

O.k here goes. I just changed our Dec. ressies from CR MK view to WL courtyard view. I have been planning for a different resort for a year so I had some catching up to do. I think that we would like to have one of the bear face rooms. I am just not sure on how to word that for the cm on the phone. The one last already thought I was crazy when I kept talking about ADR's :rotfl2: . So I don't want to call back and ask for a bear face room and then have the cm put a note on my ressies that says "watch out for this one she is crazy". Also since it will be just me and DH on our 10th anniversary trip we would like a king size bed, but I want a tub to. Does anyone know if those rooms exist in that area of the resort? I know the cm's that take all these calls from us obsessed people get really tired of the knit picking, but I know what I want no shame in asking for it right :confused3 . Also I have read about it being a hike to say the boat launch or RF, what kind of hike are we talking about? We have stayed at POR and ASMU before how do they compare in size? When we stayed at POR if we went to the food court we drove is WL that large or is it smaller?

I've seen great "castle views" from the pictures of rooms 5032 and 5034. Can anyone tell me if these rooms are 2 queens or 1 queen and bunk beds? Also if anyone knows any other rooms (and their configurations) with great castle/fireworks views could you please let me know what the room numbers are.

We are booking woods view (4 rooms) for our Magical Gathering in July and, while I know it's just a request, I'd like to at least request these rooms.

Thanks!

Welcome to the FAQ Thread.

To request a Bear Face room (so that CRO won't think your :joker: ) you will need to request...Inner Courtyard View off Main Lobby, King Size bed with full tub.

The Lodge is the smallest restort located at WDW the furthest walk time you will have is 5-7 minutes :confused3 I wouldn't consider walking to any location at the Lodge a hike, but some rooms are closer to the bus stop or dock area, as they are located at different areas of the Lodge.

Click on the link below this map will show you the locations of the areas around Wilderness Lodge:

What dates are you visiting during December?

We took at $5 cab to the Contemporary and walked. It is MUCH shorter than I anticipated. Make sure you call the valet from your room, and then your cab will be waiting for you. This $5 "bought" us about 30 minutes of sleep time.

ETA: What is the "magic behind the steam trains tour"? sounds intriguing for DS.

I booked this for my Father In-Law and I. When I return I will post a Trip Report and include this as part of it. 17 Days Yippee! :yay:

Thank you for your reply. We will be there Dec. 16-22. We saved a $1,000 and we got the WL at christmas :cool1: .

Is there a room at the WL that has a queen and bunkbeds... what is this room category? Does anyone have a picture of this room?

Not being on the monorail, how do you find transportation to/from the park?

Thanks!

The bunk bed rooms all have an accompanying Queen bed. I'm not sure what category these are in..but I know they are above standard. (I know someone will verify this)

As for transportation, we had absolutely no problems. The boat is an enjoyable way to get to the Magic Kingdom, but the bus is probably a bit faster. Even though some reports indicate it can take a while to get to where you want to go, we found we were where we wanted to be within 30 minutes, most of the time (including waiting time)

I'm thinking of booking WL for a couple of nights in January or possibly a trip in April. What types of activities do they have? Is there a list somewhere on this huge thread?

I know there is a hidden mickey tour, but wondered if there were other things. In september we really enjoyed all of the activities at the AKL.

Thanks!!

We have always rented a car but this trip are considering not doing it. How bad is the bus/boat really? Would we be happier if we rented a car and drove? I read in one of my books that there are not busses that go directly to the parks but reading here that does not look to be true, most just stop at Fort Wilderness first.

Our first trip at the WL back in '97 we had no problems since it was off season and we enjoyed the boat to MK etc. But we were unlucky enough to be at the Lodge last October during the busy Columbus Day weekend and when the renovation on the MK bus stop was being done so we had NO choice but to ride the boat to MK.

It was a nightmare to have one less transportation choice to get to the Contemporary, MK etc. Bigger lines formed at the bus depot and the dock, boats were full and we had to set out at least 75 minutes just to get to the Contemporary. And still we were almost late to several ADRs.

We had been warned about the situation prior to arrival but not about the compound problem. I guess what I am saying to you is if you are going when it will be very busy expect issues especially with the boats. I don't think they ran them on schedule the entire 6 days we were there and often they were quite full from Ft. Wilderness.

(DH and I use DME and he hates to spend $$$ on taxis or a rental car and still walk from the parking lot.)

There is a direct bus from WL to MK. There has been for about 2 years now. It does not stop at Ft Wilderness first when going to MK. The direct bus to MK is a very good option if you want to get there quickly. The ride is only about 5 minutes. Every place else you go by bus you will share the ride with another resort. Sometimes its FW, sometimes it's the Poly or GF. Keep in mind that the WL is always first when being picked up so you always get a seat. I think also that it is always first when dropping off. The ride to DTD and the water parks can be pretty long ones on the bus.

The boat from WL to MK is a little slower than the bus. I say on average from the time you get to the boat dock till you get to MK your trip will be about 25 minutes.

I always like taking the bus to MK in the morning becasue we are in a hurry to get there. We enjoy taking the boat back "home" since it gives you a chance to relax after a long day at the park.

I'm not sure if anyone has stayed in these rooms that posts here since the renovations were done. I hope someone can help...

Keep in mind that some of the pictures of the views from these rooms have zoomed in on the castle so it looks closer that it acutally is to the lodge. It's still a great view, but I don't want anyone to be disappointed.
