Hi Pixiesrule! Welcome! My best (internet) buddy is from Michigan (altho' he doesn't live there anymore); whereabouts are you?

In answer to your question regarding bunk beds:- We were (unexpectedly) given a bunk bed room (6012 with a MK view) on our recent trip (just back) and I am 28 and sis is 32. I'm around 5ft 9inches, and I found that it was comfy to begin with, then after 3 wks I was glad to get home to my normal bed. If I stretched out straight then my feet touched the bottom of the bed, and to top this I banged my head a couple of times on the bunk above. I also missed a reading light. Normally when I go with my mum and sis, the two of them share one queen and I get the other. The bunks are nice to look at, but I reckon your son (particularly) may prefer a normal bed for size as opposed to the bunks.

My 15 yo son, who is about 5'11", and my 12 yo DD (5'7") both slept fine in the bunk beds at WL. They are both used to twin beds at home, though. We were there for a week.

Thanks for the responses Kath1210 & #1MMFan.
DD is 5'8" and DS just under 6'. They sleep in twin beds now, and both have dreams of moving into a bigger bed someday! We will be there for 6 days and perhaps they would be willing to try it. Of course, with me being only 5'3" I suppose I could trade off with the son so he could stretch out too and since he's bigger than me, I may be forced out :crowded: Thanks for the info and now I will need to make a decision soon so we can get reservations in place.

#1MMFan - you mention that you were 'surprised' with the bunks. Is this something that you can request in advance and be guaranteed, or is it a first come/first served option?

We live in a small town on the Michigan/Indiana state line. We are halfway between Chicago and Detroit

Can't seem to find the resort photo thread so I am posting here. Feel free to move.

You book and pay extra for bunk bed. I believe that if you book them you will get them. #1MMFan was a beneficiary of a free upgrade. My suggestion is that if you need the bunk beds, pay for them, don't expect an upgrade.

Cindy's Mom - Thank you for the advice :thumbsup2 I didn't realize that there was a fee for this request over just another queen sized bed - I hadn't seen that little pc of info mentioned anywhere! Nice to know. Do you happen to know the $ difference? Also, it looks like we will be there at the same time. My husband thinks I'm a little crazy  because I'm planning already...he doesn't understand - he just enjoys all the benefits of my months of planning. I can now show him that there are others planning ahead of time too! :cheer2:

There's a fee for the bunk bed? I'd never heard that before. I wouldn't have requested them (I'd probably debate the "benefitting" from having them!!!).

IF you are going this 2006 - there is NO fee for the bunk beds.

if you are going in 2007, than YES there will be a fee.

The fee on the bunk beds is of course based on how many nights....I believe we are paying approx $200 for bunk beds for 5 nights. Keep in mind that the bunk beds are also in an "higher category" of view. I booked the woods view bunk, there is also courtyard bunk. I think that would have been about $400 more.

Hi Folks,

10 more sleeps...I can't wait. We have booked ourselves into the Wilderness Lodge. I have visited Disneyland and seen the Grand Californian hotel. Has anyone out there seen both? Is the Wilderness Lodge a lot like the Gran Californian?

Thanks...

Hi diarmuid! I just posted a response on the thread you started! I have only 8 more nights before I leave for my trip!! Woo-hoo!! I can't wait...there is nothing like WDW during Christmas time, and the WL is SOOOOOO nicely decorated! Sorry, I just had to get my excitment out!

I leave in eleven days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are staying 3 nights at CSR and then staying 4 nights at WL. I have never been inside the WL and am excited to see if this will be my "home" resort....

Only 4 more days!! Man I can't wait! I sure hope all my neat surprises for the family go well. The IPO has really been a great help. After some issues I had early on, they are really doing a lot for me.

It's all I can think about! :teeth:

Just like many others on this board, my family is on final countdown for our WL stay from 12/10 to 12/16. :cool1: We are staying at the Swan the night of 12/16. I'd like to do an early morning check-out at WL and have our luggage transferred over to the Swan to be held until we check-in that afternoon. Is this possible? If not, is alternative to hire a taxi?

What is the latest report on the exterior maintenace at the WL? Is it still near Roaring Forks?

MouseEar Vacations TA has confirmed that Bunk Bed rooms are now a catagory that is guaranteed, and there is an additional fee for them. You got a free upgrade #1MMFAN :scratchin

There are LOTS of WL pics from people that have stayed there. Just see the link in my signature. :)

For early reservations, I would take a cab if you have little ones with you. It's really a lot easier! Only a 5 minute ride by cab.

We have 7:00am ADR at CR with Chief Mickeys, I see the boat starts at 7:00am, have the boats ever started ealier or would be better to just get a taxi and not worry if i took the 7:00am boat and got the C.M. late

Thanks
Brooke :sunny:

Hrmmm this is something I don't recall seeing there during my stays. I know they have campfire stories and movies at Fort Wilderness. I've never done it but have wanted to for the longest time.

Hello All,

Does WL do a storytime in the evening? If so do you know how I could get more info.

Thanks
