Has anyone had problems trying to book the WL????

We have been trying for weeks now to book the WL for 10/12 - 10/14 with no luck whatsoever.

It is our favorite resort but so far no luck :sad2:

I'm kinda excited. I'm half way to having all my money for my January Trip. Airfare is all paid for. I looked up exactly what the costs are of the most expensive food I would order at each restuarant (to be safe) so I have cash for all my dinner reservations. And budgetted 300 dollars for spending cash for suvies...

Only 900 more dollars to get the hotel paid for...

I'm just hoping for a code so it goes down more.

We're also considering WL as a first time, we've stayed at just one Disney resort, AKL but thinking of two or three next trip! A few questions ..
If we took the "small" boat to CR, we could hit the monorail to MK and where would we end up? Would it be an easy walk to MK, or one of those things that takes you to gates from the parking areas? (its been a few years since I've gone to MK) .. and what would be a popular room suggestion for MK view, preferably for the fireworks as thats what the aunt wants .. we're probably going with standard view, thanks! (two queen beds)

Edit: and I forgot, is there any restaurants at WL that would have chicken fingers? its generally all I eat, easy on the stomach.

I'm not sure I understand the question, but the monorail from the Contemporary takes you right to the MK and it's an easy walk (basically you get off and walk down the ramp). Don't forget the walk from the Contemporary boat dock to the monorail - that takes a bit of time. You can also walk from the Contemporary to the MK, but it's not very scenic (you're on a sidewalk next to a busy road).

Re room to request - check the bottom of the first page of this thread, there is info on rooms, and there may be something there.

Roaring Forks serves chicken strips.

With a week left for our trip, I will want to confirm reservations especially since I have medical issues involved. I thought I read that you can't fax to the WL? Is it okay then to call WL a few days before the trip to verify and explain my situation? Thanks

We're getting ready to go home to WL next Sunday
Just wanted to ask if anyone knows if they sell bottled water in bulk at the mercantile. We plan to freeze a few bottles each night to take into the parks in the morning.

Thanks for your help all! :thumbsup2

I'm back from my first WL trip. We were there 9/09-9/16 and I had a great time. I do love the lodge. I used bus transportation for the first time this trip. DME to the resort and Disney busses/boat all during the trip. It worked out ok but it was slower then taking the car for everything but the MK.

I'm not sure what really qualifies as a woods view. I needed a roll in shower and was given room 6098, a woods view. But sitting out on the balcony I had a view of the parking lot, some green roofs, some cement? roofs and the bus stops. Off beyond all of these were trees but no trees were really close.

Was just curious where the MK monorail drops you off at when you arrive at MK. We're trying to do WL/CR/Dolphin now.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THE LODGE!!!!! I have to just say how much I absolutely love this place! We upgraded two weeks before we left from ASMo. I had been to the Lodge six years ago when we got married, and loved it then, but now, I am not sure I will stay at another resort!!! It just feels like you are coming home when you stay here! The CMs were wonderful! I got upgraded from a standard room to a courtyard room with bunk beds. We were fortunate enough to get to be flag family on Wednesday. Stan is GREAT! The CMs are just so helpful and friendly! I had a medical issue and needed a wheelchair to take me to my room. They were so caring, and concerned, I even got a call the next day to check on me! I stupidly left earrings in a drinking glass, and mousekeeping didn't see them. They actually found them for me! I like how everything is close, and all in one building. You can really take advantage of your refillable mugs because you don't have to go outside of your building to get to the food court! Boat transportation to MK is great. Never took the buses anyplace because we rent a car to get to the other parks and resorts. I can't say enough good things about this place, and can't wait to go back!!!

If you take the small boat to CR, you end up at the marina. It is an easy walk to MK, as we did it twice. If you get on the monorail, you will end up at the MK, although you may end up taking the entire loop through TTC, POLY, and GF before getting there. You get off right at the MK gates. Can't tell you about what room to request for MK view. I booked standard, but was given a courtyard upgrade. And Roaring Forks sells chicken strips. Can't speak for the other two restaurants however, but you can find menus at allearsnet.com

Thank you. I was curious about the MK monorail thru CR since we had no plans to stay there, but of course that changed (for now atleast) so we'll just take the boat to MK from WL. When you say right at the gates (in regards to the monorail) .. you mean where you enter into the park correct? That's pretty cool they gave you an upgrade, was it complimentary? I suppose it can't hurt to ask what, if any, were available when we check in. Roaring Forks has my business too :thumbsup2 btw, how was your courtyard view?

The upgrade was complimentary. Yes, I do mean it lets you off at the gates...well, I mean you have to walk off the monorail platform down into the queing area. The courtyard view was great! We were on the third floor. Had trouble seeing the water parade, but could see the geyser shoot off.

We'll be staying at the WL for the second time, in February. The first time we stayed there we were in a concierge room with bunkbeds since we had our DSs with us. This time it'll only be DH and I, and we're booked into a standard view room. My question is: Are there any standard view SMOKING rooms with a king sized bed? Not sure I should bother to make the request if they don't exist! lol Thanks :sunny:

Unfortunately the Standard View rooms are only available with two queen size beds and are not located in the smoking optional North Wing. (Woods View/Inner Courtyard View) However if they let you add your request to your reservations, please have both your request listed as you will be visiting during a slower time at the Lodge and they may updgrade you at check-in. Never hurts to ask... :confused3

Thanks, thats great .. I never thought the monorail would drop you off right at the gates, we definitely have to use that. Where does the boat drop you off at ?

Sleepingbeautymama

If you have medical issues there is a special group that you could call, I'm sorry I don't have the contact information. You should be able to get the information over on the "disABILITIES! Forum" if it's just a request you could call the main # of the Lodge a few days before arrival and ask to speak with either a manager or room assigner.

You are correct Wilderness Lodge doesn't except FAX request but most Disney Resorts don't. They request that you make all your request through main reservations # so it will be on your room reservation.

Good Luck

While the Mercantile does have bottled water, to purchase it in bulk others have said you may do so over at Ft. Wilderness Campground they have two locations that sell supplies. I have never done this before as we always drive and bring our water with us.

We had the room next to yours - #6096 - when we stayed at the Lodge three years ago. I had booked a standard room and wasn't happy with it (truck fumes, noise - yes, I had been warned here on the DIS about that but hadn't really believed it and was hoping for a complimentary upgrade - who knows, maybe we had a great view of the fireworks but we weren't there long enought to find out!) So I went back to the desk, expressed my disappointment, and they gave us a free upgrade (I didn't ask for one and would have paid the difference) to a woods view room. The CM warned me, though, that the view was mostly of rooftops.

This time (last week of August 2006) I wasn't willing to take a chance on a free upgrade and booked a woods view to begin with. We wound up having two different rooms (this because our return flight was cancelled due to Ernesto, something we didn't find out until we were at the airport, so we came back for two more nights) and both had a much nicer view than our first woods view room. One was over the much-mentioned otter pond, the other off the lobby over Whispering Canyon. The trees were much closer.

I think (maybe someone can confirm) that there really aren't many standard rooms in the WL, and anything NOT over the service/loading area is woods view.

I have booked a standard room from Dec 17-21st and am so excited! My question is do any of the standard rooms have a MK view or should I upgrade? I would really like to have a chance of seeing the MK fireworks from our room. Is this possible?

We had a standard room - sixth floor - nonsmoking - #6056 and had a great view of the fireworks every night! We were there in June and it was wonderful. Good luck!
