OK, OK.

DH is going to download the pictures from the camera.

Fred, we don't have any from the Suites yet. Unfortunately, they were not ready when we were upstairs. We will probably go visit in two weekends and hopefully we can get to see them then. I'm dying to see what they did with them.

Just some more tidbits. I was told that they were adding more bunk bed rooms to the rest of the hotel because they are in such a demand there and because now they will be their own category.

Also, someone was asking about the Honeymoon Suite numbers. 7086 and 7086 are the rooms on the Magic Kingdom (NorthWing) side and 7095 and 7096 are the rooms on the SouthWing side.

****HIDDEN MICKEY ALERT****

With the renovations, there are MICKEY'S all over the place. BUT, there is a hidden mickey (side view) which is really hard to find in the new headboards on the beds. It is in the carvings. We found it but it was really hard to fine. GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!! :wizard:

Just a quick note to wave hello to the regulars I see here (Hi FRED and KIMMAR!), and hope all who are venturing to the WL soon enjoy a MAGICAL TIME!! The splendor and natural beauty of this amazing sanctuary remains one of the favorite aspects of this resort (for us).

I recall when it was actually being built, and was one of the first to venture past it's doors during the GRAND OPENING as it was welcomed the public. The restaurants are still top rate, and the Planked Salmon at Artist's Point is absolutely "legendary" IMHO. A trip to WDW is not complete without a trip to WL & Artist Point (and WCC)!

I actually personally believe this resort is one of those few in WDW which truly "improves" over time (as the landscape across the land matures and blossoms). Much like DL's "POR" and perhaps a couple more...the trees which were planted as babies/saplings at WL are now spreading their full lush canopy over both the grounds and buildings. It only improves with time...beckoning all from close and afar with the "lure" of it's deep~green cool foliage!

Such dense shade and raw dark~green beauty is a true rarity in the center of a humid tropical climate like Florida. Unlike their deciduous neighbors, these marcescent species of trees retain or actually continue to grow their hearty leaves throughout the winter season. This type of scenery is stunning, and part of the beauty/draw of this incredible resort. Many Oak and Birch are actually marcescent..as well as the hearty pine varieties which dominate the landscape. The botany specialists working for WDW must have a "field~day" with these trees and shrubs!

Disney is nothing if not miraculous when it comes to landscaping, changing the flower beds, shrubbery and trees throughout the course of the year at nearly every resort on property. Many times, guests are oblivious to the agricultural changes (subtle). Yet, I take notice of the little green carts roaming the property, and enjoy inquiring with team members about the work being performed when ever I see them around! LOL.

The room and CL renovations also sound exciting!! Perhaps we must plan a trip and reserve a CL suite soon. I would also love to see the photos...and see WHAT they have done to the suites. We have always enjoyed them before, and also agree the CM's on CL @ the WL have always been some of the best on property.

Have a great time, and be sure to "touch the bear's nose" for me too!!

Popping in to say we are back and had a really great time. It was our first visit to WL and we loved every minute of it. Thanks to all the great folks here for all the info and advise. I'll try to get some semblance of a trip report up in a day or two. :wave2:

I apologize if these questions have been answered before, but I have spent hours scouring the thread and haven't seen anything exactly like these. My DH and I are new to the WL, so we could use some help from people with experience!

1. What time should we plan to leave WL in the morning to reach MK by opening? What about Epcot? (Or is there some page here or elsewhere that lists travel times between WL and other locations?)

2. The first page of the thread says the buses to DTD are very slow. How much time is "slow"?

3. We're having our annivesary dinner at CG at 9:10 on a Friday night, so I assume we won't be finished until 10:30 or so. The boats between the two hotels stop at 10pm, correct? So what would be the best way to get back to WL after our dinner? (Walk to MK and take a bus? A cab?)

We are getting so excited for our trip! Only about 4 weeks to go!

TIA :)

I can answer your first two questions and will need help from another WL vet for number 3.
For number 1: If you are traveling by boat if the park opens by 9:00 I would catch the boat between 8:00-8:15 to allow plenty of time if you go to Fort Wilderness Campground before the park. If by bus if you are on the bus by 8:30 you would be at the gates for the opening ceremony no problem.
As for Epcot, it took us 35 minutes to get there, our friends who just got back said it took them 40 minutes. That being said if it opens at 9:00 I would be on a bus between 8-8:15.
My husband went to DTD for a movie this past summer and it took him 60 minutes to get to DTD, he almost missed the movie. So I would plan accordingly.

I'm back on this board after around a three year absence - our first and last trip was in August 2003, and very coincidentally, the exact same dates as our upcoming trip! (August 23 -30.)

I had not been planning a Disney trip this summer, though the kids had wistfully been talking about it. I was about to delete yet another e-mail from Southwest Airlines about a fare sale when I instead clicked on it, was mysteriously drawn to the Manchester NH to Orlando fares :teeth: , and was taken aback that it was only $109 RT. This was less than I spent three years ago! So I checked with DH and booked the flight.

Then we had to decide resort...DD14 informed me that we had "spoiled her" by staying at the WL three years ago on the Fairytale Package. (For those of you not familiar with that, it was phenomenal - you got an extra three days of hotel and tix when you booked for four days.) DS8 was more willing to experiment. I was concerned about expense but DH finally told me that we were WL people and not to cheap out. :Pinkbounc Quite an endorsement from a guy who grew up in FL and had previously talked about WDW as The Rat. :)

So now I'm back and I thank all of you for your insights and enthusiasm! Can't wait to be back in the World!

I have a quick question for those in the know:

We are booked for WL Concierge this November, but I think for financial reasons we're going to downgrade to either courtyard or woods view. Here's my question - I would actually prefer woods view (if we can get it), but I can remember back when I first called months ago and booked courtyard, and requested a king room, I was told by CRO that standard and woods rooms didn't even have king beds, so it's a good thing I wanted courtyard. Anybody know if this is actually true? I'd like to book woods instead of courtyard, but only if king beds are available in woods view. Thanks!

I'm soooo confused about the rooms!! I have a courtyard view room right now. Does this mean it opens to the lobby? I REALLY would like MK view. What area should I ask to get that? Thanks for your help!! It's my first time staying at WL!

The only rooms that you might get a peak at the castle through the tree is a woodsview room in the North Wing 4th floor and up

Glad I was able to sprinkle a little pixie dust on your trip. :) Alas the box IS back with me and it's memories remain inside. One day I need to catalog what was in there and make a website for everyone to see.

Who knows, maybe I will make a new box one day. Heh!

Do you know *when* they are adding more bunk bed rooms? Is it part of this renovation, or will it be done in the future? Will they be available in all views?

I am asking because we are really hoping for a bunk bed room for our August 26- September 2 (2006) trip, and more BB rooms would mean better chances to get one.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

Jeanne..THANK YOU so much those pics!! 19 more days..19 more days! :goodvibes  :goodvibes

Dizneykid, thanks for the pics

We are booked in a courtyard for last week of Sept and hoping for bunks.

Was that a DVD player on the desk?

Is getting a bunk bed room kind of luck-of-the-draw for the remainder of 2006? I know the new pricing matrix for 07 includes a seperate price level for bunk bed rooms, but we are visiting in October and would realllly like a bunk bed room if possible. What do I do? Just list it as a request and see what happens? :confused3 TIA
