The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY! Part 2

Hi guys,

I need room advise for our August trip. We stayed at WL in September of '05 and had a ground floor (1st floor) courtyard room, northside.

Pros: We have 2 young children and enjoyed the ability to walk out the patio door directly to the pool. Didn't ever deal with the elevator. We were with my disabled mother, so she could get around easier (keep in mind she is NOT coming this trip, so we are able to stay on any level/floor). We also liked the proximity to boat launch, laundry, roaring forks.

Cons? We couldn't enjoy the nice courtyard view of pool, geyser, lake, EWP,and possiblity of Wishes from upper southside rooms? etc. because we were on ground level and had bushes obstructing our views. Not as beautiful.

So....any suggestions for our next visit in 3 weeks? We have paid for courtyard again. My DH liked the ground floor, but I am wondering what ya'll think of the upper floors, expecially 4,5th floor , southside. Isn't 6th floor closed in balconies? What were your views? How were the elevators? Busy, slow? How was the walk to food court, boat, etc.? Any suggestions on your preferences would be appreciated! If you've stayed on both ground level and upper level, what did you prefer?

Thanks everyone. You guys are so wonderful on the Dis!! :sunny:

If you request an upper floor, try to get a room that is near the elevators that is halfway down the hallway of the North side...we found those elevators to be very quick, and, they let you off right down the hall from RF, the exit door to the pool, and the laundry room....it's the area where the building 'breaks', if you can understand what that means....

Hi Kimmar067...
I know exactly what you mean. OK..northside, upper floor, halfway down hall, close to elevator. That's the elevator right by laundry room right? Could you see the EWP from 4th or 5th floor northside? TIA

Hi Ya''ll - thanks for all the GREAT info. I have searched but cant find this - sorry. Is it only floors 6 and 7 that have the "closed" balconies? I don't want that because I figure that will compel my little one to climb to see out. We currently requested '6th /north standard room' - but maybe I should call and say "high north/open balcony"? Will they think I'm  Are there any pics posted here to show the difference, in looks between the open and closed ones? THANKS!!!!!

HURRY!! WL is on the Travel Channel right now.....on Great Hotels with Samantha Brown.....:hyper:

I so want to see that show. Everytime I hear you talk about it being on I wish I could.

Unfortunately the travel channel in Canada has a different line up, so I have never been able to catch the show.

Oh well, I will just have to keep looking forward to our trip to WL in Feb. 2007, where I can make my own pictures!

Me and my DH will be there in 92 more days....Oh my gosh how am I going
to make it that long. We stayed there in 2003 and loved it soooo much. I am
very happy about the newly refurbished rooms. We are only booked in a standard category, last time we had courtyard view, but I don't care.

Well, I just wanted to pop in and say Hi to you guys, I have been reading
this thread for awhile, but I refused to get to excited until I had my airfare
booked, and I just found a 125.00 airfare with SW so I grabbed it.

Now I can let myself get excited!!!!

I'll be there in 32 days!!! we booked 2 standard rooms. i'm sure it's listed somewhere on this thread, but can you give me advice on which stanard rooms we should request? any standard rooms have views of fireworks???

We were there in June, room 6056 - It was a standard room with a GREAT view of WISHES every night - so...sixth floor, north side - have fun! We also had two rooms - my inlaws were in 6054 - also a great view of the fireworks. Wish I was going back!

VA BEAR - we were on sixth floor and our balcony was open - I think all of the balconies on sixth floor were open.

Devastated.

So here I am, with reservations in hand for Dec. 3-9 on the Club Level. It will be our first time on the CL and we're excited. We loved the WL at Christmas time so much last year we are making it our annual tradition. So I figure I'll get a head start and book next year's vacation now. I wait patiently until I hit exactly 500 days out from my check out date and call CRO.

I try to book Club Level Dec. 2-8, 2007 and they are COMPLETELY BOOKED! I try telling them, today is the first day you can book Dec. 8, 2007 and the CL is sold out? Huh? I even had them try to do just that day only by itself and nothing is available. Fairly disappointed, I then try to book a Courtyard room - same thing not available. I had to book a Courtyard room with Bunk Beds, which I don't want, just to try and be sure we get something even close to what we want.

The CM checked with Guest Services just to be sure - same thing. I then called back and tried a different CM in CRO, Julia who was super nice. She called Guest Services and WL directly. Same result. Everyone was surprised that so many rooms were not available that early. I know the WL is getting more and more popular around the holidays, but this is ridiculous.

I hope we don't enjoy the CL this year, because we'll just be really bummed we can't have it next year. :guilty:

Looks like I'm going to need a dumptruck of Pixie Dust at CRO.

I called to book a standard room at WL for 11/27-12/3 of 2007 on the first day possible and it was already booked. The cast member on the phone couldn't believe it. She left me on hold while she talked to someone and came back and said it really was booked and she had never seen anything like it before. I went ahead and booked our second choice, CR garden wing. I may try calling later to see if anyone cancels, but I am not getting my hopes up since WL is so popular for the holidays.

I had the same thing happen when I tried to book standard room only for next July.....and I called in the morning of exactly 500 days before...the CM said that they didn't release all the rooms at once and to just keep trying. We're going to change that res to a package, so it doesn't matter now, but don't give up!

Bump Looking for new Pictures of Rooms no one is posting any Picks Come on guys I need a Disney Fix. 119 days and counting

Thanks so much Laura!!!!

Just called and paid in full (well, by visa that is ;) ) for our 9/25-10/2 WL adventure!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: I guess that makes it TOTALLY official! I am so excited I can hardly stand it (I believe we are at 60 days out today). I requested an inner courtyard, 4th or 5th floor. What do you experienced WLers think?? Good request?

Are there any standard rooms with bunk beds? Can I request bunk beds? Right now, our only room request is guaranteed non-smoking.

Thanks!
