The *NEW* SWAN & DOLPHIN RESORT Thread ~ April 2009 ~ Please read Post #1!

As a follow-up on my "fake" reservation, I called Disney Dining this morning to book the Cinderella Round Table. I was told by the supervisor that 180+10 was not honored for the swan or dolphin reservations.

I certainly didn't tell her that my reservation number worked online for all my other practice reservations!

Any other experience with ADR's past 180 days at the Swan or Dolphin?

so i am going to disney with my parents, brother, husband and 1yr old son. we have booked an executive suite at the dolphin. after looking online today it looks like the swan executive is bigger. so i called to change our room and asked about the different views. the first person i spoke with just have me the basic info... told me that none of the suites have views of epcot and that they can't guarantee a balcony if we switch to the swan. when i called back to switch.. the second person i spoke with was really pushing the dolphin suite telling me we will have more room and that our current room has a view of epcot. she also told me that none of the suites at either hotel have balconies.... so i told her to just leave us at the dolphin. im kind of confused because it seems like the people i talked to gave me different info. just wanted to know if any of you have information about the differences between the 2. I thought the swan might be nicer because its a little bigger and has a table, but i would rather have a view of epcot. my brother will be sleeping out in the main living space. any ideas/suggestions.

I've never stayed in a Swan exec suite (I will explain the reason later), so can't help a whole lot on that front, but maybe can give a little insight.

You are correct-the Swan exec suites are larger-the main room is 600 sq ft compared to the Dolphin, which is 480 sq ft.
From what I have learned, the Swan main room only has a sleeper sofa (Reason #1 why I have never stayed there), while the Dolphin has a fold out sofa and a sico bed.
I was told, as you have been, that the Swan suites do not have an Epcot view and I know that the Dolphin suites do (reason #2 why I have never stayed in the Exec suite at the Swan).
There are some exec suites at the Swan that have a balcony, but you were told correctly, none of the Dolphin suites have a balcony.

I know this isn't a great help, but maybe this will help make your decision easier.

That DOES sound like fun! Sorry we will miss it by a few weeks.

I'm hoping they have a "Dive-In Movie" scheduled during our stay - last year we really enjoyed lounging by the Grotto Pool with a cocktail and reminising about the old "drive-in theatre" days!

I'm just going to leave it at teenage girl stuff taken to the extreme!!! She's actually quite pleasant and thrilled when she was finally forced to do stuff, but it was too exhausting getting her to that point and most of the attention on the trip was focused on her and away from my boys.

I really, really, really want to get back there just the boys and I.

The lady we spoke with when making the reservation said that all the executive suites at the Dolphin have good views because of the way Michael Graves designed the buildings. Can anyone confirm? Is there dumpster views?

Also, are the executive suites at the Dolphin in the wings or the main tower? Any information on these suites would be appreciated!

How old are your boys? I'm not one to want to travel "alone" with my daughter, who is almost 17, but if I had to, the Dolphin would be an excellent location for that. I feel very comfortable at that spot - with everything "right there"!

Boys are 12 and 16. 16yo is 230 lbs and 5'2", so I'm not concerned, although I wouldn't be concerned even if it was just the younger one and I. I do want to make the plans, but I would never be able to take his money for it. PLUS, I just looked into flights and they're crazy. What cost me $200 for March and July trip is now $500!!!! I def. want to take them back to Dolphin b/c we stayed at BC in March and we all wished we were at Dolphin.

I'm going to have to wait and see how things pan out after my July trip to see if I can come up with the money. Just thinking about it is fun though.

We thought it was very nice! The living room part with the king murphy bed was great. The bedroom was a normal hotel room (2 double beds) connected to the living room part. I thought this room was a little snug. One wall was taken up by a desk and there wasn't a lot of room between the bed and desk. But we loved it. None of my children complained about anything.

The 'murphy bed' was not what I think of as a 'murphy' bed at all. As a matter of fact I forgot that was what is was supposed to be when we first got into the room. It looked like a normal king sized bed.

People cancel all the time, so I would definately keep checking. But I would also book another hotel, just in case! Good luck!

People do cancel all the time, but I've also found it more helpful to call them direct. I don't know why, but it seems any time I can't find what I want on the website, if I call them, somehow they've usually been able to work it out for me.
