I once had the "do not disturb" sign on my door when I wanted to take an afternoon nap, and housekeeping hadn't cleaned the room yet. They didn't knock...instead they called the room! I'm sure there are people who forget to take the sign off the door when they leave the room - but that's their fault if the room doesn't get cleaned. In my opinion, a "do not disturb" sign ought to mean leave my room alone!

That's what I was wondering. I don't think they would be bugging the heck out of you for a freaking phone charger. I would definitely report this! And check to make sure you guys don't have anything missing, just to be safe. There are so many scams going on in hotels right now.

Thanks for the concern everyone! I'm leaning towards the situation being legitimate because it began at the front desk and has since all this has gone done been spoken of between my sister who has the reservation and the hotel management.

I'm going to chalk this up to a lack of communication between when we were initially 'spoken to' about the situation at the front desk and then the next morning the resort security who may not been alerted to us responding that nothing was found or spotted to our knowledge.

The security person was very friendly and did not search the room, he merely asked for permission to enter the room itself. After the two members of the group who were in the room at the time explained that we had been told at the front desk, he apologized and said that he would not have come up had he been told.

I'm the only one really with anything of 'value' aka computer, camera, etc... and it's all safe and sound. When I left the room earlier in the morning, I saw the housekeeping starting their routine on our floor.

Again, thanks for the concern everyone! I think the hotel was trying to satisfy one of 'those' customers who may take out their error on someone else.

Last night in the room, time to get some sleep as we have a 1/2 day at the parks followed by a FL Tours pickup at around 5:30 for our flight home at 7:30!

I used to call the hotel operator, and tell them to put a "do not disurb" on my phone. Then when we were done napping, call again to have it removed. That way no calls will get through; they will just go to voicemail.

That is funny, usually if housekeeping sees the sign, they will automatically just leave you voicemail, not call your room! I would be upset!

WOW...great rate. I haven't seen it that low in a few years.

The teacher rates seem to be out, but not on DU yet. I still was quoted $219 for Limited View at the Swan, 2 Queen. I don't think it's a very good deal.

What is limited view anyway?

LoveKermit - How did you get that rate of $219? I called and could only get a low of $299 and teacher rate was sold out - What week are you looking at???

I'm looking at 1/21-1/25. I took 2 days off school last year. I might take 2.5 this year.

We still don't think they're as low as they're going to go....

I paid that rate back in August 2002. Great rate again.

It gets even better...there's a $99 rate available for the week preceding and the week of Labor Day!

Ooooo.... that's great for all of the people without school age children! :thumbsup2
(we can't take DD out of school the first week of classes. :hippie:)

I can't believe how fortunate we are to get such a terrific rate. Coincidentally, August of '02 was the last time we visited WDW...and we paid a heck of a lot more than $99 to stay at the Beach Club, that's for sure!

Lucky for us, we fall into the category. And it's our 20th anniversary, to boot, so we're super-excited about this well-overdue trip back to our favorite place in the world. :lovestruc

I see these now listed as special rates. Does anybody know anything about this one, or if this breakfast rate can be combined with a AAA or gvt rate?

As far as which is better goes, it's really a matter of preference. Both hotels I believe have mini-fridges by this point(Swan definitely does, Dolphin is at least in process).

We are staying at the Dolphin for the very first time in December over Christmas and new years and are so excited to be staying there and in such close proximity to Epcot, Boardwalk, etc! My questions:

Will there be a refridgerator in the room?

We have always used ME and indeed will use this service again from MCO to our first hotel, CBR, but what is the best way to:

Move between the CBR and the Dolphin?

And what is the most economical transport from the Dolphin to MCO (we won't be able to use ME back)?

Thanks so much in advance for your help!! :flower3:

Where did you find this $99 rate? We are going to be there 8/28 - 8/31 and the lowest I saw was $109 for a limited room view, prepay with no refund or cancellation allowed. Currently I'm booked at Dolphin with Gov't Rate for $129 and was going to change it.

I'm hoping I can get an SPG upgrade at check-in.

Edit: I just rebooked for same dates, AAA rate - no full prepay and no "limited view." It was $109.50/night for king bed. I cancelled our other reservation.

Edit#2: Found $99 rate for during the week. We are going to be there for the weekend.

Just 1 month and 1 day until we see the Swan again (knock wood). I can't wait. I hope it will be as perfect as it was in 2004. I could not find one thing to fault, not even if I had to. :)

Can anyone tell me about the candy store called Sugar in the Dolphin? I read on another website that it is a "new age candy store" so I am very curious!

1. Yes, there will be a refrigerator in the room.

2. Ask Bell Services to transfer your luggage from CBR to the Dolphin. I would go to a theme park for part of the day, then take WDW transportation to the Dolphin when you're ready to check-in.

3. The most economical way to get to the airport is probably to rent a car at WDW with drop-off at MCO. Alamo and National have an office at the Dolphin and the Car Care Center, Avis is at the Hilton near Downtown Disney, and Budget is at the Doubletree near Downtown Disney. Make your reservation in advance.
