Just wondering, is there a morning coffee bar type place in the dolphin like there is in the swan or do we need to go to picabu's? I'm heading down there this Sunday and the coffee in the am at the swan on my last trip was delicious! We're trying the dolphin this trip
G'morning!

Yes...coffee and pastries are served at the Lobby Lounge in the Dolphin. My husband loves that he can get his Starbucks in the morning. He said the in-room coffee was really good, too.

We're heading down to the Swan on Saturday, after staying at the Dolphin last year. Have a great trip!

PS - here's the link to Dan Murphy's post about overriding the A/C.

Did your DH know that the in-room coffee packets are also Starbucks? Isn't it great!

Enjoy your upcoming trip!

LOL Dan - we posted the same reply at the same time....great minds think alike!

Remember, the in room coffee is fresh brewed Starbucks also. :surfweb:
How could we forget?! Just one more reason why we :lovestruc the S/D!

Oh, yeah...he was thrilled! The smell of the coffee brewing worked better than the wake-up call to get him out of bed, LOL.

And thanks, I'm sure we'll have an awesome time, as usual. Just holding my breath a little until a make sure that Earl isn't going to wreak havoc on flying out of NY on Saturday morning.

We'll be staying at the Dolphin on Sat.-just one night before leaving on a cruise on Sunday. Got a great Entertainment deal and are thrilled to be close to Epcot. Since our time is so limited we want to maximize the time we do have at the resort. We estimate we'll arrive at 11 am and we've requested early check-in. We plan to enjoy the pool in the afternoon then head over to Epcot around 5. We purchased the Restaurant.com cert.for breakfast at the Garden Grove on Sunday.

Since this will be our first time at the Dolphin we want to check out the resort and have our lunch there on Sat. For those of you who are Dolphin veterans, I'd love some suggestions for our quick 1-night stay. Best place for lunch, best place for late-night drink, any areas I should definitely take a look at?

Thanks so much! I know I can count on my Disboard friends for suggestions.

Just thought of another question regarding parking. I'm having mobility issues right now so I'm wondering about the parking situation. I'll be traveling with a wheelchair and I recently got a disabled placard for my car.

Any input would be appreciated!

Hi Denise.

A nice restaurant for lunch at the Dolphin is Fresh. And, if you have AAA, 20% discount. Two other choices would be Fountain, or Garden Grove at the Swan. All take AAA.

As for parking, I think, with a placard, you can get valet parking at the price of regular parking, $11 vs. $18, plus tax.

Unless it's changed, the coupon from Restaurants.com is only valid for dinner at the Garden Grove. I had checked into purchasing this for our upcoming trip and nothing was available for breakfast.

Thanks for the info, Disney Grandma. I purchased my certificate before the terms were added for dinner only. I printed my info and nowhere does it have that restriction. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Dan, thanks so much for your suggestions. I do have a Triple A membership, so it will be nice to get a discount! Just WISH we had more time to spend at the resort, but there's always the next trip!

Good for you, we only wanted breakfast so the coupons wouldn't work for us with the new restriction. I know you will love the Dolphin!

I was looking to book a room for 2011 with SPG points + cash. The site wouldn't let me book it and shows it as blacked out - but all of 2011 looks blacked out. Does anyone know when the dates will be available to book with points + cash for 2011? Or what dates may be blacked out? Thanks.

Can anyone answer? Also, when trying to book the Dolphin for 5 people, they wanted to charge me an extra $25 for a cot. I thought there were specific rooms that slept 5? Is that our only option to get a cot? It may make me rethink and book deluxe to sleep 5 instead. Thanks.

There is a new bonus points promotion for SPG. Details and registration can be found at:
https://www.spgpromos.com/resortbonus/?EM=ResortsSPG_ENG_090110

The gist of it is, for select Resort properties (including the Swan and Dolphin), qualifying stays of 4 nights or longer earn 10,000 bonus Starpoints. That's enough for a free night at the Swan and Dolphin (and other category 4 properties)!
The hook? Stays must be booked and completed AFTER registration but by December 19.

I hope this helps someone!

Thanks for the tip. Too bad I already have two stays booked before the end of the promotion!

I was wondering if you can hear the music from Illuminations while you're watching the fireworks from your balcony if you have Epcot view? I checked on you tube but couldn't really tell....Happy weekend everyone :cool1:

You may be able to register for the promotion and then book the rooms again (you may even find a better rate) and then cancel the old reservation.

You should check your reservation but you can usually cancel within 5 days of your reservation.

Only in my head, LOL.

Alas, no...the music doesn't travel that far. Still pretty to look at, though.

Thanks, I didn't think so. The Dolphin seems closer to the fireworks than it did staying at the Poly, but on some nights, I could hear WIshes from across the lagoon...that's ok...it will still be a sight to behold :goodvibes
