Oh so if you get an upgrade it would be a room with a balcony (if its available)

It's a 20% discount and yes they do take CAA as well! Have a great time!

If I get an upgrade, it would be Epcot view with balcony since I already booked the resort view with balcony.

Great to know about the CAA ... DS10 eats ways more than I do! Lol.

Just to be clear, the signature restaurants do not take AAA. They take the TiW card, if you have an AP and also the TiW. The signatures also do the www.restaurant.com discounts; current code is STEAK, 80% off the regular restaurant.com price.

Thanks for that. Since it's just me and DS, I don't think we'd be dining at any Signatures anyway.

I got the rate through the teacher discount. The standard view would have been $159, resort view $179, resort view with balcony or Epcot view with no balcony $199 and then Epcot view with balcony $234.

I'm jealous... but in a good way. ;)

I just got back from a week at the Swan and wanted to do a quick review of my stay.
Alcove Room-Not as big as I anticipated but it was large enough for 3 people one of which is a messy 13 yr old boy. We were on the 4th floor (no balcony) and faced trees that semi-blocked our view of the ferry stop and then a great view of the Boardwalk. We were able to see some the fireworks from Illuminations.
Housekeeping-Great! No complaints here. One minor thing was that when we arrived there was no bedding for the sofa bed. We called guest services and they said someone would be coming by. After an hour no one had come. Before we made a second call, GS called us and asked if someone had dropped off the bedding yet. We told them no and within five minutes someone was knocking on our door.
Dining-Picabu was our favorite place to eat. There was a variety of dishes (hot and cold) and lots of snacks to choose from. Although the food was a bit pricier than Disney counter service it was always hot and fresh. We also did the breakfast buffet at Garden Grove (no characters). This we regretted. There were lots of food but most of it was lukewarm or just didn't taste that fresh. We should have gone to Picabu.
Ferry Service-Also no complaints. One always arrived within ten minutes and the best was going to HS since we were the last to be picked up and the first to be dropped off. Using the ferry to go to Epcot took a long time and opted for walking instead.
Bus Service- Buses were always within ten minutes and only twice did the bus stop at each Epcot resort before driving to the final destination. Once it was incredibly crowded on the way to Downtown Disney as it picked up lots of convention patrons from Yacht Club.

Guests were a good mix of families and convention attendees. There was even a couple of weddings.

So now onto the one negative...
One night probably around 8:30 my mom and I were watching TV and we thought we heard a click like someone using a key card to get into our room. I didn't say anything and figured it was coming from across the hall and I know that my mom noticed because she looked over at the door but also didn't say anything. Well, it sounded again and before we knew it someone had opened our door! The lock at the top was secure so it kept the person from coming in. My mom went to the peephole and asked the person "can I help you?" and the man said "sorry" and walked away. I called down to the Guest Services and I gave them the info and they said they would send someone from security to our room right away. Within five minutes, a security officer came up and asked my mom a bunch of questions on what the guy looked like. He then said he was going to do a card history on our lock to see if the key used was legit.
After he did this, he called back to say that a guest had mistook the room number and he even spoke to the guest. Then he explained to us that sometimes the doors don't close all the way and possibly ours was left a little open and the guest had pushed the door open even though his card wasn't reading.
He assured us we had nothing to worry about. A few minutes later, maintenance called and said they were going to do a work order on the door to make sure everything was working properly.
Does that sound strange to you?

Overall had a great stay and I highly recommend the Swan.
If any questions, feel free to ask!

;)

Welcome back, Shock. Sounds like a good trip.

I have had a door that did not close and lock by itself. I always had to remember to give it a tug on the way out or a push after entering.

Thanks for the report Shock. Do you have any pics of the Alcove Room to post?

Sorry you had that situation with the door. We actually had that exact thing happen to us at AKL a few years ago. As scary as it sounds, I guess it does happen more often than we hear about.

I am trying to get a room for june 12 13 14 and nothing is available. I think there may be a convention. I hope something opens up.

I am booked from 15 to 20 and need those dates above to open or else I will have to look for a stay elsewhere and I dont want to.:sad2:

Looks like I will miss you by a few days, Chell.

Yes, I did, for each of the signatures, plus House of Blues also.

Have a great trip. :cool1:

Hate that I'm missing you again. Thanks! Hope you have a great trip too!

This is my first trip with my nephews!!! I'm thrilled!!! I can't wait to see it through their eyes.

I agree with the Picabu assessment-we loved eating there-and it was pretty quiet in the AM when we were there.:)

Glad you had a great trip, Shock!

As for the "door problem", we once went to our favorite hotel in New Orleans and checked in, went to the room and used the card key to enter. The room was being used, but the guest was not there. Luggage and stuff everywhere. We went back down to the desk and had it resolved. Ever since then, I keep the chain on when in the room, and lock up valuables in the safe when we leave the room.
Hopefully your situation was just a card problem, or that the mechanical problem was fixed.

Thanks for the great report:dance3:

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what floors the executive suites are on in the Dolphin, and what kind of view we can expect? Thank you :)

I should know this...but I don't! Do S/D use the feather down Heavenly pillows or the alternative fill Heavenly pillows? I'm online & ready to bite the bullet & order some, but I don't know which ones they have there. I'd assume the alternative fill because so many people are allergic to down, but I'd hate to order the wrong ones!

I thought they had feather down pillows in the room. They have a note on my account to bring me the alternative pillows. Last time they forgot but brought them right up after we got in the room.

But that could have changed in the last year.

I'm at the Swan now. Can someone please tell me how to manually set the a/c unit?

Thanks,

Hit the "Power" and the "down arrow" buttons at the same time
Screen should read "bypass"
Use up or down arrow to manually set temperature
If I recall correctly, you will most likely have to repeat the process every day, or every other day, or so.

PS - hope you're having a great time!

I called and asked this same question when I was reserving an executive room and was told the rooms are scattered all throughout the resort and none of the Dolphin's executive suites have balconies.

Hi guys, 10 days out for me! :cool1::banana::woohoo::yay: I booked a towncar with Tiffany Towncar Services, and from the research I've done you tip 20%, correct? So I was wondering if you take the roundtrip price and cut it in half and tip that each way (because I assume you won't have the same driver), or is it 20% of the whole roundtrip fare each way? Thanks for your help...we've always used ME and want to make sure I give our driver the appropriate amount :)

We just booked a van from Tiffany Towncar yesterday for June. From what I have read, cut you roundtrip price in half and give 20% on that amount each way. Are you using a grocery stop on your way to the s/d? We are and will probably tip a little more on that way for the convenience. Also, I'm sure your aware of it but you pay the full amount when you are picked up at the airport, so you are just paying a tip on your way back.

I also have a question. Our return flight leaves at 5:05 pm and they scheduled our pickup for 3pm. Does that allow for enough time for our flight? Or should I call and have them move the time up?

Anyone else having problems with disboard pages loading up today? I've had trouble with the pages loading, and have had to try a few minutes later to visit this thread. It's not uncommon for me to have this problem, but not like it's been today.
