The New Stomping Grounds of The Tagliarchy

OK, I'll get to this one first... I was at dinner tonight (Black Tie with DW) I snuck some fruit for desert (I know the place we were at doesn't have the best stuff...and, well, Bananas are a perfect fruit) when someone at my table grabbed a roll, and said he just took his insulin and needed to eat something. I offered him my Banana...I am not sure anyone else caught it, but DW assured me my comment would be repeated online. Met some nice folks there, and I ther desert wasn't that great...neither was the meal. But at any rate...The kids haven't seen Lion King 1.54 yet, and since someone mentioned that they were watching it tonight, they are waiting on the bed...remote in hand...

Good Night All..Have pleasant dreams and don't think about Uranus.

Actually, I had a weird dream last night. I dreamed that Disney was deploying a new CRM device...Sorry...Wristwatches kind of like Dick Tracey used to wear. When you checked into the hotel, they took a Digital Picture of you and put it in the memory of the bracelet that they put on your kids wrist. It was so that they could make sure the right parents were leaving the parks with their kids. it also was room Key, Park Access, and had a GPS in it so the parents could tap on theirs and find where you are in the parks. They could even rig a walkie talkie in it for emergencies. Since WDW is an area unto it's own, they could deploy the infrastructure...sorry, build all of the towers etc to make it work without disrupting any residences. It could even find your location and tell you if the lines are long, or if there is a restaraunt with a special you would like...Picture an aware My Pal Mickey that has a built in GPS, and 2 way communications to the central computer....

OK, I'm weird.....

Good Night All, Thanks for the Wonkas

:bounce:

Kismetdreams, I have heard many things about the movie. I am Jewish, and from what I have been told the film depicts the Jews in it as less than what the historical facts attest to. I have also heard that it is an amalgamation of several versions of the story. There are many people who take this stuff as the Gospel, on faith. I prefer to think of it as entertainment that will be used as propaganda.

I have heard mixed revues as to whether or not the film is Antisemitic, but the consistent feel I get is that many Christians will use this as a conversion tool. I will wait for it to come on cable before I decide whether or not to ever see another Mel Gibson Film. After all, he runs around on his wife (who will burn in hell because she isn't a Catholic) and since I am Dyslexic, I would rather not spend 2 hours reading subtitles......Sorry for the rant...but it is late and the kids want to get the movie started...

:bounce:

Hi everyone. ohanafamily and I went to a black-tie event tonight for the American Diabetes Association. It was nice, but our dinner was way over cooked.

I just have to tell. We were sitting at our table and a gentleman a few seats away said he had to eat something because he'd just taken some medication. So ohanafamily said, and I quote, "Do you want my banana?" Okay maybe it's not so funny written out, but when he said it it took all I had not to
spit.gif
.

Laura, Nephosaurus says Employment Gods definitely prefer paperclips over chocolate.

Okay, now I have to get off the DIS because the kids found our copy of Lion King 1 1/2 - thanks to llebrekniT mention of it - and the menu music is driving me nuts. (Speaking of that music, does it remind anyone else of the tune from Emperor's New Groove?)

Thanks for your thoughts, ohanafamily. I have read things along the lines of what you were saying, both about the possible Anti-Semitic depictions in the film and about Mel Gibson and his personal interpretation of religion. I guess I will have to go see the movie to see what kinds of messages they are portaying.

On another note, hope you and RRBB enjoyed your night out! I'm sure your friend was appreciative that you were willing to slip him your banana! Heehee...I figure as long as no mention of Uranus was made, you should be ok. :)

Ok...Enough potty mind for me tonight...I'm off to watch more TV.

Dream well, fellow TAGLIKINS! And last one out of the hot tub, make sure you shut off the bubbles and put the top on! :)

I think I need to get a Hot Tub Artifact!
tub_smilie.gif
If the hot tub doesn't attract the TAG FAIRY, I don't know what will! :smooth:

cadburysmom Thanks so much for the Wonka Bars! I really love having chocolate before bed... well really anytime anywhere. (I guess I'm just a chocolate junkie!)

Hey! How about a hot tub on the back deck! I'm already hard at work on the plans
writing.gif
and if the guys I hired with lots and lots of

can read them

then they should be able to start building

as soon as we move.

DBF and I want to see PAssion but we'll wait for the crowds to die down first(besides if he gets to come in this weekend we're seeing Eurotrip since that's been planned)

Good morning everyone.
I hope everyone had a relaxing Saturday. I had quite a good day and in the evening I worked at the local theatre where I am a volunteer (the whole arts centre is run by volunteers.) We had a works party in the concert hall (it is a huge room, it holds 1500 people.) I worked behind the bar until 11:30 and then we had to clean the hall (which as you can imagine was a mess!!) and then set it up fpr a fashion show today. So I got home at 2am!!
Today I have to do my planning for work next week :( so have a busy day ahead.
I haope you all have a good day.

 AZkathy I'm sorry to hear you are having abad time at the moment. I hope things get better for you soon.

:teacher:

Good Morning everyone!

Warm Krispy Kremes for all.....

Danauk, so did you sip a little on the side last night behind the bar? I bartended at a Mexican restaurant for 3 years when I was in college & I often sipped from a Margarita while mixing everyone else's drinks.

Kismetdreams, my take on The Passion. It is a movie. I want to see the movie. I wish it wouldn't be used as a "conversion tool" as ohanafamily mentioned. I hate all the hoopla. Also, you do have a digital camera so you can post pics of your upcoming wedding....don't you???

Where is Depplyinluv? Do you think she is just staring blankly at the TV waiting for Johnny to show up? I watched the Independent Spirit Awards last night & her favorite little hobbit, Elijah, was there. I just hope the Oscars go by without any major political statements. Drives me nuts when they get up there & start yapping about politics.

RRBB, your CKU thing sounds fun. How long will you be gone?

AZKathy, I am so sorry about all the crap you are dealing with. How long have you been on leave?

So, ohanafamily you didn't finish the story....did the guy accept your banana??

Uranus

Hey everybody. I planned on just lurking today. Not in the mood for much chat. But then I saw all the talk about the banana and I just have to wonder what will come of this. RickinNYC, Lewski, Cheeringmom, Huggabaloo, and BichonBarb are going to love this one. And I was thinking the same thing as myDSIL, did he take the banana and split?:teeth:

Ella had a bad night (me too therefore). I am actually hoping that I start throwing up so I know it is a virus and not that damn spider bite. She throws up and has, well you know what. (Don't know why, but I don't like saying that word, never have.) But she's happy as can be, not tired, no temp. Just when I start to think she's OK, she does it again. It's as infrequent as every 12 hours or so. The other part has slowed way down and when she throws up, it's in tiny amounts and not that heaving type of thing. I don't know. I'm exasperated.

I'll check in later. :wave2:

 We were on page 2!!
deadheadbelle, I didn't drink behind the bar but after the customers have gone the bar manager allows us to help ourselves to a few rounds of drinks as we are all volunteers. I had a couple of morgan spiced and diet cokes (but only 2 as I only had 2 diet points left for the day!!)
I supposed I better get back to planning my maths lessons for next week!! I was just having a browse on the boards to take a quick break.:teacher:
 :wave2:

Deadheadbelle, no, he ate his Buttered Roll, and left me my Banana for desert. Oh, and they are already trying to use this film to "Spread the Word" one person rented out an entire theater for a 6:45AM show on the opening day. Several Churches in our area have managed to get the film for a screening too. The ONLY thing that I know about this film that is a FACT is that Mel Gibson will make a heck of a lot of MONEY off of it. Someone suggested that if he were that devout a Christian, he should donate it all to the church...I am still waiting to hear his response.. A good DB Topic? huh?

Danauk, want some help making up math problems...O has 1 Banana, and offers it to his friend, (who promptly declines it) How long will it take him to thoroughly embarrass himself on the Dis?????

llebrekniT, Lurk away, I am sure I will suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous TAGLIKINS for my innocent Banana Comment. I mean really, he had just told me he needed a sugar fix from taking insolin...Bananas are the perfect fruit...here I go again...
THE AMAZING BANANA

After Reading THIS, you'll NEVER look at the Banana in the same way
again!! In fact, I think I'll go get some this evening....

Doctors - Home Remedy If you want a quick fix for flagging energy
levels there's no better snack than a banana. Containing three natural
sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose - combined with fiber a banana gives
an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven
that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90 minute
workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's
leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep
fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses
and conditions making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst
people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a
banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that
the body converts into serotonin known to make you relax, improve your
mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains
regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of
hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in
potassium yet low in salt making it the perfect to beat blood pressure. So
much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana
industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the
risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were
helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break
and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the
potassium packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help
restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without
resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make
a banana milk shake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and,
with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while
the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

Heart burn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body so if
you suffer from heart burn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep
blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try
rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people
find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous
system.

Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in
Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like
chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found
the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report
concluded that, to avoid panic induced food cravings, we need to control
our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two
hours to keep levels steady.

Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal
disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw
fruit that can be eaten without distress in over chronicler cases. It also
neutralizes over acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of
the stomach.

Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a 'cooling'
fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of
expectant mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananas to
ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers
because they contain the natural mood enhancer, tryptophan.

Smoking: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The
B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in
them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the
heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water
balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, there by reducing
our potassium levels. These can be re-balanced with the help of a high
potassium banana snack.

Strokes: According to research in 'The New England Journal of
Medicine' eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death
by strokes by as much as 40%!

Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that, if you want to
kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with
the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or
surgical tape!

So you see a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When
you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the
carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and
iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in
potassium and is one of the best value foods around. And bananas don't need
a doctor's prescription, and I doubt there are many people who have been
warned off of bananas by doctors; bananas are just another fruit in that
popular food type.

So maybe its time to change that well known phrase so that we say,
"A Banana a day keeps the doctor away."

Bannanas? Uranus? What is this thread coming to ????;)

Wishing all a tagged day!
Mishell

Good Morning. :wave2: I have a busy day planned so ohanafamily is on his own. I have to make a skirt for my gypsy costume and I expect that to take a big chunck of the day. Then I really have to start packing. I have lists all over the place of things not to forget. BTW Deadheadbelle, I'll be gone for 4 1/2 days. I leave on Wednesday morning and come home in the afternoon on Sunday.

cadburysmom thanks for sharing Wonka Bars with us last night. I know Nephosaurus really appreciates it, too. (He didn't have to dip into his stash for a change.)

Kismetdreams I'll nominate you for keeper of the Hot Tub. Is there a second? Now, for that movie. I don't want to see it. More than anything because of the violence. I hate watching that kind of stuff and always end up hiding my eyes. But also I'm just so sick of all the hype about it. For weeks before it was even released it seemed you couldn't get away from talk about it. That drives me nuts and turns me off - no matter what the film. I'm also not interested in paying $8.00+ to read the whole time. Since all the dialogue is in Aramaic, Latin and Hebrew, and it's such an intense movie I just don't see how it can be enjoyed when you're reading instead of watching the action.

llebrekniT I hope Ella (and you) feel better soon. At least she's not all fussy, right?

Sounds like you had a really long night Danauk. I think it's great that you volunteer your time like that though. When I was in college I volunteered as an usher for a few concert performances on campus. It was fun and I got to watch the show for free.

Hey CourtasanSatine,. What's the word about seeing DBF this weekend?

Good morning TAGLIKINS!

Ok, now that the can of worms has been opened about the movie,"The Passion".......

I'm living down here in the "Bible Belt" and every time a film or anything like it comes out, it just becomes one big headache for me! I am a Presbyterian, send my DS9 to an Episcopal school, and have many friends who are Baptist, Jewish, Methodist, Lutheran and yes, even a few Muslims and they are all loving, tolerant and forgiving people whom I consider myself very lucky to call friends....

...however, there is one religious group who takes everything way tooooooo far and are unrelentless in trying to get everyone to watch this film, hate the Jews, etc..... I believe in 'public spankings' and think each and every one of these people should receive one!! These are the same people who removed their children from my child's school because they said it was not conservative enough, won't let their children watch Disney films because of the violence and use of weapons, no Halloween, and definitely NO alcohol......I got a call from one of them this morning asking me to change over to their church and that I would 'burn in ****' if I didn't, and she loved me and my son and didn't want that to happen.........of course I said no, I was happy with my present church and hung up.....but I felt soooo sorry for her because it must be so hard to be so afraid of so many people and believe all these things are wrong......I feel like deep down she is a nice person but has been brainwashed by these religious nuts to believe almost everything is evil.........I just wish they could lighten up and show some understanding........who knows, the next thing they could be attacking is chocolate:eek:.....geez, what a bunch of hypocrites!!!

Maybe I am going to **** because I LOVE Halloween, love my friends, most certainly even those who are not Christians, watch Disney films and occasionally partake of alcoholic libations!!:)

Sorry, I know in social situations one is not supposed to talk about money, politics or religion but after going thru that phone call.......I just had to vent!

....oh, and by the way ohanafamily I'm a little hurt that you've never offered me your banana!:teeth:

RRBB, good luck making your skirt. I'm am in awe of your craftiness. What will ohanafamily do while you are gone? Probably not the laundry. Will you have internet access?

Oh, I second that Kismetdreams be the keeper of the TAGLIARCHY hottub. Oh I almost forgot, RRBB, THANK YOU for the buttons on the color wheel. Your computer abilities amaze me!

Ok, I know llebrekniT & I argue here & there on the DIS, but I'd like to share a little something about llebrekniT. Last night, DH & I were discussing where we want to stay at WDW in October. DH acts like he doesn't care that much about going, but he does. Anway, I had llebrekniT on the phone & we were discussing places to stay. I really want to try the WL, llebrekniT is thinking Poly. Well, this morning she called & said they would stay wherever we wanted to since they go way more often than us. Of course, now the pressure is on. What if the place I choose sucks? :teeth:

ohanafamily, I think some churches around here have rented out the theaters too  . I've never had a problem with Mel Gibson, I'm just not crazy about how the film has been marketed. I know he produced it, but I don't know how much he has had to do with the marketing campaign. However, from what I understand, he did put a lot of his own $$$ into it. It looks like he is going to make a bunch off of it though.

Hey cadburysmom, are they Southern Baptist?

I had a friend in high school who belonged to this church (I can't remember what it was called) & it was wild! No singing, no dancing, definitely no drinking. The women weren't allowed to speak at church. I'm sure I was a bad influence on her. What with being a CATHOLIC: drinking, dancing, singing (off-key) :teeth:

You hit the nail on the head!

.....but it's not all Southern Baptists of course, just those few "crazies" who end up breaking their own rules in the end.....

I need another chocolate bar.........

Sorry about that, got a phone call

from my sister in CA. Now where was I..

Thanks for working on the deck/hottub plans disneyluvers. Just one question... is it big enough for all of us? I think there are about 50+ living in the TAGLIARCHY now. No wonder we have to move so often these days. :teeth:

RRBB Sorry about the banana comment, but you know we just couldn't let that one pass.......;)

.....do you remember the scene in Beverly Hills cop where the waiter tells Eddie Murphy to "go ahead, take the banana".....my friends and I are all extremely warped and still laugh about that to this day.....:goodvibes

When are we moving? I guess I'd better start packing......
