Good morning everyone from sunny England (yes I did say sunny!!) I hope you all enjoyed watching your Johnny Depp movies last night and didn't eat too much chocolate, ice cream or popcorn.
I need to vent a little this morning (sorry I hope you don't mind.) I got a new mobile phone which arrived 2 days before christmas. I was changing from a pay as you go phone to a contract but wanted to keep the same number. So they said that was not a problem but would take a few weeks to do that in and was given a swap over date of 5th January. That was OK as I could use my old SIM card in my new phone until then which would allow me to use up call time I have pre paid for. So on 5th January the number switched to my new SIM card and I could make phone calls as before. It said that you might not be able to send text messages for 24 hours. So the next day after 24 hours I try to send a text message and it didn't work soI thought I would try later in the day just in case - but it still didn't work. So I checked all my settings on the phone, they were set OK, I tried the card in DH phone - still couldn't send a text and tried DH's card in my phone - sent a text no problem. So I tried to phone up the mobile company to get some help. After 1 1/2 hours of me hitting the redial button on the phone I finally get through to them. I explain the new SIM card is faulty and can I have another please. They said I would have to try diffrent things to check that it is definalely the SIM card which is faulty and not the phone. I tell them I have already done this and it is definately the SIM card not the phone. But they insist I try again and phone them back. So I do try the suggested things again and still it will not work. So I try to phone them back. Of course by not I am back at work and busy. I can't phone from work to sort it out as I do not have time. So when I get home each night I have 2 hours before they close to get through to them (whilst cooking tea, doing other jobs etc.) Finally after trying every night for a week I give up trying to phone them as it is constantly engaged and try to use their email service. So I go to their website and type in a fault form. It says it could take up to 7 days to reply. 10 days later still no email so I decide I will get through on the phone. So I have the house phone in one hand an DH's mobile in the other phoning the same number!! Finally after hitting the redail everytime I hear the engaged tone for 20 minutes I finally get through. So I explain the problem again and the woman agrees I need a new SIM card (finally) HOWEVER the computer system is down at the moment so she can't type my details in but will put one in the post first thing in the morning. She said I should have it by Saturday. She explained that the reason the email had not been replied to was to do with a computer fault as well (at which point I politely point out that for a communications company their communication skills are very bad!). So Saturday arrives and no SIM card. By now I am less than impressed. Then I get a phone call from customer services saying it is a call back from my call during the week! I explain the problem again and ask why my SIM card has not arrived today like I was told it would. The woman said that one hadn't been sent because the computers were down!!!! So I ask why I was told one had been sent and would have been here by now and then that was not done. She said they had had computer issues!!!! To which I reply I have been having text messaging issues for almost 6 weeks now which your company knew about. So finally my SIM card arrives this morning. So I have to phone up to get it activated. After 25 minutes of constantly hitting the redial button I finally get through only to have the worked cough down the phone and cut me off!!!! So another 20 minutes of hitting redail later I finally get through and she activates my new SIM card. Can I send texts yet? I'll let you know as she said it could take up to an hour for the card to activate!!

Sorry for such a long rant but I feel better now :D

I hope you all have a great day. I better go now as my cats are looking hungry.

I just wanted to add that my phone still does not work!!!! However I am going shopping with my SIL tomorrow and the mall has a shop for the company I am with. I don't plan on leaving the shop until my phone will send a text message!!!!

Godiva Coffee anyone??? I also have cream and spenda!

Dana...getting ready for lunch?? LOL..I find it funny that when I get to work, you are eating lunch..I also think that my friend in California is just finishing lunch when I am on my way home from work!

I know..simple minds!!::yes::

Good Morning everyone!!

Just stopping in before heading to Josh's swimming class, then shopping. Did Nephosaurus ever get to sleep last night? He looked a little weirded out after Sleepy Hollow ended.

Danauk, I am so sorry about your cell phone problems, what a nightmare. I think you have the right attitude going into tomorrow. Don't leave that store until everything works.

Have a great day everyone!

Just wanted to stop in and say Hi and Goodbye. We are leaving this afternoon for our two day ski trip and will be back Friday evening. I have to pack, then I have to go to the car dealership and then I have to go to the office for a couple hours, then I have to come home and we leave. :hyper: First though I have to figure out what I'm going to do with the boys, 'cause I'd rather not bring them in the office. :scratchin

Anyhoo, can we all bow our heads for a little memorial service?

Yukon Cornelius was a good friend. A reliable friend. He took us on many trips in the 5+ years that we knew him. He happily towed our pop-up (and most recently our travel trailer) over short and long distances--with ne'r a complaint. To Lake Ontario. To the Adirondacks. To the Finger Lakes. To Maine. And to Williamburg Virginia.

Cornelius was also king of the Syracuse winter. He could get us through snow that measured not just in inches--but in feet. With just a touch of a button, Cornelius would fire up all four wheels and off we went.

Yukon Cornelius. We salute you. ::yes::

Thank you for joining me in a tribute to my SUV that I am trading in today. I can't believe I'm going to be driving a black super crew pick up truck. The truck has a Harley Davidson decal on the back window. (It's 2003 with 16,000 miles.) DH wants to take it off, but I think I'll leave it on just for yuks. :moped: :smooth: I told the boys that I was going to take it to a detail shop and get some hot pink racing stripes along the sides. Rob would kill me. :p

Okay kids. Don't get into any trouble while I'm gone. (Please wait until I get back.)
:wave2: :wave2:

Bichon BarbHope you have a wonderful trip and can't wait to hear about it when you return on Friday! Please know my thoughts are with you and Yukon Cornelius as you go to do the trade-in today. I literally sat down and cried when my beloved Volvo station wagon finally 'died' on the side of the highway. All these people thought I was crying because I couldn't afford a new car, but my dear old Volvo had been with me for so many wonderful years and I had so many wonderful memories in it, good and bad. It was like losing an old friend who had been with you during the good times like going to pick out my dog, Cadbury, when she was a puppy, bringing my DS9 home from the hospital for the first time, many home moves,etc.... and getting me through the bad times such as icestorms and a pretty nasty divorce. :(

I am lucky in that I did get a really nice, spanking new Volvo station wagon that has all the 'bells and whistles' my old station wagon did not, but still, it's only a car to me now where my old station wagon was a dear friend who carried me safely through all sorts of life's challenges. Maybe I'll feel the same about the car I have now one day, but until then, it's just a car.

Morning all. How come I am not getting notified thru my email that someone has posted on threads that I have posted on? Normally when I open my mail in the am. there are tons now I haven't gotten a one. Any ideas???

Checking in :teeth: anyone miss me yet ?

Today is a stress filled day , we are getting ready for the big state championship for JV Wrestling . It is held at our school every year . I have to feed 300 coaches for 2 days

My husband is trying to get a job with a new city and today they told him he has to go to the Police station to meet with someone...We passed our backround check and credit check so I kinda wonder what this is about .......maybe his driving record he had a few tickets years ago right in a row . I told him that would come back to haunt him LOL.

Maybe he has to pass a "personality test"? Some Cities do that. PD to him and you! I have never heard of a credit check for Firemen! !

Hey Besty :wave2: Are you or your husband in the fire service I knwo we have talked about this before I just cant remember anything .

Yeah they always do one here anyway. They even looked at our bank accounts, I have a account by myself and they peeked at it . You have to sign the papers to allow it of course .

It is not the personality test , he did that and the Chiefs interview , and so on and so on .

All this just to risk your life for strangers LOL

yes...my DH is a Batt Chief for a city here... They have drug tests for every promotion.

I LOVE your Married / Fireman tag!! That TAG FAIRY
...she is quite smart!

I can't believe they look at your Bank accounts ....WOW!! Seems a bit crazy for the fire service..is he a paramedic as well??

on another note..it is 51 here now...I am <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/16/16_6_9.gif' border=0></a>

Never mind. I found out that I am no the only one who is having this problem. But thanks anyway.

Hey Mad4Mickey You know that I missed ya!!

I am guess that Danauk is having it out with the phone people...she hasn't posted again!!

Yes the Tag Fairy is smart ! But that was my siggie for awhile and then she gave it to me . I always say it because for the most part it is true :teeth: Not for you or I of course !

And come to find out they wanted him to take a new Poly test . When he passed it they gave him the job ! He is there getting his new boots and stuff. He reports for duty on the 4th . Yes he is a Paramedic in a different city right now . He is ready to go back on the Firetruck.

CheeringMom .... I MISSED you !!!!!

Wishing all a Tagged night

Ha ha.. DH says the guys have a different girlfriend at each ER...slime!!

Boots...wow, the guys have to buy their own..they get an allowance once a year for uniforms but it really only defrays the cost..doesn't cover it. My DH is both...the city has them do both. DH doesn't use his paramedic much anymore since he is a BC

Glad he made it!! CONGRATS!!

Danauk, YOU GO GIRL. I am with ATT Wirless that got bought yesterday by Cingular...which means in effect SWBell bought ATT...My head is starting to hurt,,,,,

Mad4Mickey, I can see the background checks especially for paramedics. They are careful as to who gets the keys to the drug cabinet. They also want to make sure that you aren't going to get the job and leave after they have invested in training you, or that you aren't looking to kill yourself to get insurance... JMHO. I wish your DH luck...

DisneyDmbNut, here in Dallas it is supposed to be in the mid 70's, and it snowed last Saturday...

Cheeringmom, I for one never can figure out how the e-mail notification works...

Bichon Barb, good luck!!!

:bounce:

I can drive my new Sienna Van a while longer even though the digital device thingie says I can go 0 (zero) more miles. Our new van tells us all kinds of things, like the temp., what kind of gas mileage I'm getting, and how many more miles til I'm empty. When I left the house it said I could go 2 more miles. I knew the nearest gas station<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_1_209.gif' border=0></a> was more like 3. Well, it turned out to be 4! And I made it! Very scary experience.

Then I met DHB and did some shopping. I had to find something that I could put in my bed to keep me sitting up at night while I sleep. I have had a cold and now I cough all night from some tickly drippy thing going on in my throat. I took two doses of Nyquil,<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/15/15_6_3.gif' border=0></a> sucked on cough drop after cough drop and nothing really works except sitting up. So I slept off an on in the recliner and I was cold!<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_2_6.gif' border=0></a>

I also went to Office Max and got lots of goodies to organize the office a little better. It looks so nice and tidy now. Just the way I like it.

We had a nice lunch at Johnny Corrina's. Shhhh! Don't tell the hubby's, they think we were home all day, tending to the house and their dirty laundry.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_2_112.gif' border=0></a>

Majestic, you are right! The performers last night, well they weren't really performers. They were very bad. It's too bad because last week there were more than 2 good ones. The groups are not very balanced out. They need to spread the good ones around better. Anyway, I voted for #5 even though I liked the Hawaiian girl more. I knew she'd get enough votes and I didn't want the girl that went last to beat the #5 girl. I figure it's between those 2 for the other spot.

Danauk - cell, or mobile, phone companies are pure evil!<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_2_105.gif' border=0></a> Mine has made me very angry just recently. But I can't talk about it, I have to let it go.

Time for GH!
