I admit my biggest fear in life is unemployment, as I have been working since before I turned 16 and couldn't imagine not having a job. Is it possible for you to do most of the interviewing and job applying long distance and then go down as you get closer to being hired?
Mine too, so that is a very scary thing....just going. HOWEVER, if we sell our house and go....we will have plenty of do re mi. My wishful scenario is putting ALL the money we get from our house back into another down there.
I have posted on Monster, carreerbuilder and check hotjobs often. I got one call, no relo provided. Am I asking too much for an employer to provide relo expenses? Some still do. So, YES....I will do the long distance interviewing and possibly obtaining.
As for DH going, getting a job and then me coming, NO WAY. Would you trust your DH to pick a house, check out schools, daycare, blah blah blah? Ok, most hubby's aren't as laid back as mine.
He can find a job easier because he isn't the breadwinner and his requirements are not as high as mine. He doesn't think about insurance and other perks, never had too. It's me girl, it's all ME. DH works for himself and is a great dad. He gets to do a lot of mom stuff, take the kids to daycare and pick them up, chaperone parties, take kids for shots and other appointments. He is not, well, as business savvy as I am. So, while he's willing to move....I really must wear the pants and make the right decisions as if I were a single parent.
Ah, anyhow.....he's a good guy, a great dad and I love him. I just bear the burden of the work thing. He'll be a daddy daycare for a while when we get there until he finds something that fits well with the rest of the schedules (DS School, daycare and my work).
