I saw it with my dad today. We had to sit in the very front... 4th row.
I love the books. They're some of the best books I've ever read.
However....
The movie was fairly decent. At some parts it was spectacular.
From this point on, it's kinda one big spoiler.. so it's whited out now.
TOO DIFFERENT FROM THE BOOK!!!!
Where'd they get that crap about looking for the pearls? They were a gift from Posideon! And his MOM stays in the Underworld, not Grover!!
The Underworld was WAAAYYYY OFF. And Hades is described as kingly and god-like.. not whatever the heck thay made him in the movie!
And honestly.. where'd the epic battle with Luke come from? And the shoes were supposed to try to kill Percy... well, Grover, but intended for Percy, not what they did in the movie.
The characters.... ugh... Annabeth and Percy are supposed to practically hate each other, at least at first. Percy is the ONLY character they got right! Kudos to whoever cast him.
And they're supposed to get he's the son of Posideon through captuer the flag, not know it!
Ares and Kronos were supposed to be the cause of it! That's Luke's motive: Kronos! And Ares plays a BIG role in the book.
And don't get me STARTED on the Hydra! SECOND BOOK, HELLO???
Sorry.. I could go on for hour over all of the differences.
It was pretty disappointing, from the standpoint of someone who loves the book. But overall, it was a good movie.

Yep

They mentioned it on the Olympics and I looked it up to be sure. English is also an official language, so it makes sense that both are represented.
