Luvamouse, I love your sig Poly again...April 2009...just our family of four...ahhh...

I LOVE my family (meaning Mom, Dad, Sibs and thir family, as well as my inlaws) but DH and I have declared that Disney will always be a trip for the three of us. Maybe we will let dd bring a friend when she is older since she is an only, but for now it is just us. I mean, it has been a struggle planning Easter Brunch, I could not imagine a Disney Trip. Different types and tastes.

I commend anyone who PLANS their Grand Gathering, let alone goes on one. While in theory it seems like a great time, but in the end, for us it is not anything I am interested in doing.

We once started to discuss planning a trip with some good friends who have kids our dd age and we never got past that discussion...they do value, we love the Poly, they are park commandos, we are resort commandos (not really, but we do like to enjoy our resort), they like to eat three meals and have them planned to the minute. We usually do two meals a day and aside from ADR's that are necessary, we eat when hungry. We were both wise enough to see after a discussion over dinner that a group trip would not work.

Have a great family trip!

Hi guys! I'm still looking at all of the longhouses and trying to figure out which one might be the best for us. I was thinking Fiji because I would love to be by the water (we have a garden view booked), but then I read on Tikiman's sight that it is a high traffic area and can be noisy. Both DD and I are light sleepers and might prefer a quieter area, but I don't want to be too far from the action either. Any suggestions?

If you want to be by the water then I would request Fiji for sure :thumbsup2 I have seen some views from rooms on the marina side of Fiji that were awesome!

...Now I'm worried that if I go swimming in the pool I'll come back and one of you will have my chaise!

:rotfl: Hilarious!

HOW did I miss a Poly pic thread? Oh my! I know where my weekend just went!

;)

We just returned from the World, and though we stayed at WL, we visited the Poly for breakfast and lunch at Kona. We always enjoy eating there, the mac nut pancakes were great, as usual! And the resort is just beautiful, we loved walking around and looking at all the lush landscaping.

Best wishes to everyone heading to the Poly soon! You'll have a wonderful stay, I'm sure!:goodvibes

Hey k&a&c'smom!! Welcome back.

Unfortunately, I had to learn that one the hard way :scared1:

Thanks!
We've been home just 24 hours and miss the Poly already!

What a wonderful trip - we were in Samoa #3613 and LOVED it!
Samoa is an awesome location.

We have only raves for the Poly.
It was a dream vacation, can't wait to go back. :cloud9:

Welcome back! Thanks for the great trip report and photos! :cool1:

Yeah, I have finally read through this entire thread. Thank you, thank you for all the helpful information. We will be there 6 weeks from today!:cheer2:

I read through the entire thing as well....lots of great info to be found here!

Within 12 hours, I have booked the air and 5 nights at the Swan, followed 5 nights at the Polynesian. We told our 2 DS's (16 & 10) and they are both excited to be returning.

I hope I didn't bore anyone with this short story, I just thought that it was cool enough to share.

Yay for finding a family destination that all are excited about! Congrats! :wizard:

Even better.... I got the room for 40% off!
QUOTE]

Congrats! Have a great birthday bash vacation!

Just booked a September stay at the Poly. Looking forward to our stay and as this will be our first stay there and we are looking for any tips or advice that would add to our experience.

We have never been but will have a report in May. Sounds like you should make sure to take time to actually enjoy this wonderful resort. There is a torch lighting ceremony most evenings....enjoy watching Wishes from the beach (or your room if you get a TPV), book an ADR at one of the great restaurants (O'Hanas and Kona) on site. Captain Cooks' at the Poly also has a machine to dispense the much praised Dole Whip. Can't wait to try it myself. Enjoy the easy access to Epcot and Magic Kingdom. Take a boat ride back from the MK one day just to enjoy one of the other transportation options. Those are the things I've gathered regarding the Poly thus far. Mixed reviews on the Spirit of aloha luau, but we are trying it. :goodvibes

Welcome to the Polynesian Resort Thread. You came to the right place for info. I,too, am booked at the Poly in Sept for my first Poly experience. From what I've seen and heard it's all about location, location, location!

Congrats on the booking. yes, I think Location was our reason for choosing the Poly....but there seem to be many other "perks" that come along w/a stay at this resort. Have fun! :yay:

Just booked 3 nights at the Poly at the end of April...last minute trip. We decided to vist WDW since we were already going to be in Florida that week. We have been to the Poly several times and I always love coming back.
MJ

Honeymoons...and now "coming back home" trip....have fun w/your daughters and hope you can convince your son to join in the fun!

OMG! I was just visiting another thread and a poster mentioned that the thread is nearing the maximum 250 page mark. Then I came over here and :scared1:....so are we! At the rate this thread is going, we have another 2 or 3 days max.

Tikiman 's site is gone....we MUST have this thread continue. Is Seaspray or someone else up for the challenge? I am way too computer dumb to copy all the original info and links to start this thread over. Anyone?????

Hope someone will take on the challenge. It has been a valuable thread indeed!

paid in full today for Poly TPV :)

Congrats!

So after a little family meeting tonight we decided to use our FD in the follow manner (we are styaing club level, so it is like food gone wild vacation)

CRT breakfast (2)
Spirit of Aloha (2) DD and DH really was to try this. Since it is our third trip and free dining, how can you not do it??

Dinner at Kona (1) My fav
Lunch at LeCellier (1) DH Fav
Brekfast at Ohana with Lilo and Stich (1) DD fav

We have done a lot with the dining plan our last two trip and dd and dh really want to steer way from being tied up with an ADR schedule. I just go with the flow. As long as I don'y have to cook and clean for an entire week, I am east to please!

So now I am waiting to get an idea of the schedule and then hopefully can pull this plan together.

Sounds like a good plan and a fun trip ahead! Have fun w/all the planning...sounds like you are "in your element" there. :woohoo:

mmmears, kaffinito, kandcmch, luvamouse, and princess lovers mom....Countdown is really ticking down. So excited for all of you (and anyone I missed).

Just did my online check in! I hope we get our request. But I guess we will see! I am so excited. Also trying to post 100 on here before I leave! :lmao:Gives me a goal while I wait. Sorry you all have to put up with me. LOL :rotfl:

Ok so I am so excited to be staying at Poly for the first time in Sept. I want to put a ticker into my signature to count it down every time I get on the disboards but cant for the life of me figure out how to do it.

Any help? I know its kind of off topic but hey I am staying at Poly and want to show the world lol so it kind of makes sense. :rotfl:

Oh and by the way, are there any king size beds that are not club level?

My dh and I are staying at Poly without the kiddies so it would be nicer in a king size bed if possible.

If not what are the possibilities of an upgrade? We were lucky enough to get one at GF last year when we went for our anniversary. I would love to have the same thing happen this year lol

Hey a girl can wish.:wizard:

Thanks for the welcome. We've always wanted to stay at the Poly and we are really looking forward to it.

Doesn't it feel great? I can't sleep at night knowing I'll be there in three weeks! It's all I can think about :cloud9:

What date are you checking in...we are checking in on the 25th!! This was a last minute trip so I have no ADR's at all...just called GC and the night I want is completely sold out..no surprise but I was hoping.

How soon can you check in online?

Last time I stayed on property that was not an option, I don't think.

You can check in online 10 days before your vacations. It is suppose to save you time. I will let you all know when we get back if it saved time or not. Hey I am a first timer all the way around. LOL

We just got back from POR last week and I did the online check in. Boy was I glad I did. When I got there there was a line of like 20 people or so and no one at all in the online line. I got in line and was taken right away. It took less than 5 minutes to check in. Everything was already.:thumbsup2

I actually felt a little guilty passing all those people up. They were looking at me like, hey what is she doing?

I am sure once it catches on the lines will get much longer ;)

You will love it!!! When I was 14 (1973) we stayed at the Poly with our family and I said to myself......this is where I want to have my honeymoon.....6 years later I got married and we had our honeymoon at the Poly (1979)!!! Just love it!!! Hubby indulges my Disney addiction!!!

FYI....to anyone going to WDW in the next few weeks....Disney's Grad Nights are being held at Hollywood Studios on April 17th, 18th and 24th, 25th from 8:00 pm to 2:00 am so Hollywood Studios will be closed to the general public at those times. Hollywood Studios will be open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm those nights so plan your park visits accordingly.

This may have been mentioned already in the thread but I did not read all the way through it yet!!!

We saw the pictures of the poly and fell in love. Plus we look at the the pluses of being there. The contemporary look nice but not kid friendly feel to me. Much rather feel like I am on a tropical island. I am so excited!:yay:

Hi Lilmattie -- I'll try to help. I'm not the most technical person, though. You can click on my ticker (or anyone else's) and it will pop up a window from the site where you make the tickers. You can design your own. At the end, it tells you to cut & paste a bunch of programming stuff into your signature. It took me a try or two, but it's easy and fun to design! Good luck, and I hope this helps!:)

Great! I'll be waiting to hear how the online check-in works for you. We've never had to wait in a big line for check-in, but then we generally check in so late at night that we're the only ones in the lobby.:)

The easiest way to do it is to click on someone else's. That will take you to the site they got it from.

The site will offer you directions and a variety of choices as to backgrounds and stuff.

It's actually much easier than you would imagine.

There are several websites that offer free countdown tickers for your trip. One of the more popular is: http://www.**************/ and another is: http://www.tickerfactory.com. These sites provide easy instructions to create and copy a ticker to your signature. Since you have a signature, I'm sure it won't be problem for you once you've created and copied the link to add to it.

If you need more help, just ask! Guess Aliceacc beat me to it--anyway, there are a couple of links for you! ;)

What a gorgeous photo!! I can't wait to check out your TR.

I just received my ADR itinerary from the Poly IPO-they are the best!!!!!! I'll be there 4 days after school gets out for the summer:yay:

Very exciting!!

Thanks!!! It will be even more special as two of our three kids will be there as well. Our DD's 21 and 25 will also be there at the same time with their friends. They know my addiction to WDW (40 plus times) and DCL (17 times) so they are very excited that we will all be there at the same time....now if I could just convince our son to join us!!!

MJ

Sounds wonderful :cloud9: DCL 17 times?! :earseek: Nice!

I think you'll reach 100 posts no problem ;) Online check-in is really great. You won't believe how quick the process is!

How great that you have a Poly vacation planned :cool1:
Once you have made your countdown, there will be different options, one of which will be a code "For use on message boards". Left click and highlight this one. Then retn to the DIS and click on "User CP" on the top, left of your screen. Go to "Edit Signature" and then right click and "Paste" in the box provided. Be sure to Preview your Signature so you know it's right :thumbsup2 Good luck! (I hope I just said all of that right :upsidedow)

Not sure about the King bed. I suspect BCV23 or Tess will know. Good luck on the upgrade :wizard:

Thanks for the vote of confidence johnsonet! :)

Lilmattie13
There are no king beds at the Polynesian but for the suite in Tonga. The likelihood of being upgraded to the suite--:rotfl:--just kiddin' it could happen. You never know what type of magic you could receive! :thumbsup2

The regular (nonsuite) club level rooms are the same as the other longhouses queen/queen/day bed.

Hope your anniversary trip is wonderful!

We are all blonde. DH and I are 40- he is tall and thin, nearly a crew cut; I am short and not skinny, but not too Pooh-ish-- will NOT be in a suit, but near the pool and 9 of 10 days in a Life Is Good shirt ;) watching DD's 14 (tall, slim with white Fox Racing Board shorts and long blond hair) and DD 8 with below the ear bobbed hair. I can't wait to see if we can figure it out. I think Kaffinito will make it easy with the LGMH hat!

Maybe it will be one of us :lmao: Dumb question, since I haven't been paying attention (obviously...), but are you the mom? or the dad?

My kids are 16 and 8, the oldest boy has brown hair and might not make a pool appearance and the youngest is blond and will be stuck to me like glue. He can't swim yet so he's easy to spot. You can't miss my kids - their names are Ben and John, and you'll be hearing those names a lot! I tend to have to yell their names out a lot - sorry! :)

I'm a woman - in my mid 40's - and tend to wear Disney shirts, Crocs, and a Vera Bradly bag. ;)
