So excited! Only 26 more days until our first trip to the Poly :woohoo:
We were disappointed that they would not apply the 4/3 deal to our WL CL room we already had, but we are excited about staying at the Poly! We put in our requests for different longhouses and a full balcony, and after doing more research I think the best longhouse for us will be Tokelau, how good is the Poly at being able to give room requests? I know there are no guarantee's on it, but I do know that WL is great at that, just wondering how the Poly is. Also, we may ask if they have anything available in a club level room when we arrive that we can have that day or possibly the next day. We of course intend to pay the difference, we don't expect anything for free. Has anyone ever done this?

We have requested Tokelau twice and both times the request was honored. Once again, we requested Tokulau for our Feb. 2009 trip so we will see if the magic continues....

Just got back from a week at the Poly and we were happy to be in Tokelau again (perfect location for us). Hope you get your wish!

Add me to the Tokelau bandwagon for April:goodvibes That's what we requested too. We stayed there in April '07 and LOVED that location.

okay I'm starting to get uneasy...

My trip in May is booked for 5 days lagoon view. DBF says the only 'requirement' is a balcony. I told him they're not guarenteed but that it's a simple enough request to grant and the less amount of requests the better.

So up until today, I just assumed where every we ended up would be good since we're guarenteed a lagoon view room since we paid for it. But looking through the tikiman site and maps of the resort, I really want to stay in Tuvalu.

Our reservation says "Please note 3rd floor w/balcony" I realize that all 3rd floor rooms have balconies, and that some longhouses have 2nd floor balconies and that Tuvalu is a longhouse with both 2nd and 3rd floor balconies.

I know all requests aren't guarenteed (except for room categories that you pay for) but if I requested 'Tuvalu w/ Balcony' is that too specific or should I just keep '3rd floor w/ balcony'.

DBF wouldn't mind if we had a 2nd floor balcony as long as we have one to go out on. I don't to screw up the balcony thing cuz thats most important but I've never stayed at the Poly before so I don't know how good they are with requests.

Any and All help is appreciated.

thank you from both DBF and I :)

According to tikiman's site, Tuvalu does NOT have balconies on the second floor. The second floor has a slider with a railing but no balcony. The newer longhouses Tokelau, Rapa Nui, and Tahiti have second floor balconies.

I would say to decide which are your top 2 longhouses, and make your request for 3rd floor Tuvalu or 3rd floor "xxx" to give the room assigner more choices. By putting 3rd flr first, it gives them the idea that top floor is a must. And since all 3rd floors have balconies..... JMHO

So I should have it changed to "3rd floor Tuvalu"? 3rd floor is the only thing that DBF 'needs' he was used to a balcony and relaxing on it when we stayed at Shades of Green so he now includes that in every vacation. He loves that balcony:rotfl: . I'm going to call tomorrow and make a payment so I think I'll change it to 3rd Floor Tuvalu and just make sure to the CM that 3rd floor is most important.

thanks:)

Just back from our trip (3 at Poly, 4 at GF). We had a MK View room booked. When we checked in they assigned us to Aotearoa, but we had requested Tahiti. I asked nicely if anything was available there, and they immediately put us in Tahiti on the 3rd floor. Great CM's! View was amazing, large balcony that was perfect for Wishes (Palm tree blocked the EWP), room was large and spacious, 2 double sinks, comfy beds, regular chair and a lounge chair, and flat screen TV. The convenience to the TTC was great. We walked there for the ferry boat and to catch the monorail to Epcot and MK. They also put a handheld shower head in our room for us (DS is disabled). Had it in within 15 minutes of arrival. A very nice service! We ate b'fast at 'Ohana and Captain Cook dinner once. We also had room service for b'fast. Food all around was very good. Mousekeeping was adequate. The CMs at Valet and Bell Services were excellent. Car was always ready, and had zero problems transferring our luggage to the GF. We definitely enjoyed our stay, but the Poly just isn't our favorite (we prefer the GF and BC). It's a fantastic resort and I definitely see why so many people love it the most! I would absolutely recommend it. I have pictures that I'll try to post soon.

We stayed in Tuvalu on the 2nd floor for our Disneymoon 13 years ago (wasn't called Tuvalu then). It does not have a balcony, but the view of Cinderella's Castle was great!

Merry Christmas Poly groupies! Just wanted to say we surprised our 2 DDs last night with their 2009 lanyards and 2 Stitch Pins each. My 8 YO said, "Does this mean we're going to Disney??" and my 14 YO kept saying , "I don't get it. Aren't we going in 2010??" They are thrilled and even happier when they figured out the Stitch pins represented another week at the Poly! :yay: DD 14 wants the same room, but I let her know I've asked for Tahiti, 3rd floor and we"ll just hope for the best.

I hope you all had/continue to have a wonderful holiday and that any of you who were inconvenienced in your travel by the weather still managed to have a great holiday and a wonderful WDW vacation. Thanks for being their for those of us who are always looking for a daily Poly fix.:thumbsup2

We just stayed in Aoteara. Had great views and enjoyed hearing the Luau each night.

Thanks for posting that here, Seaspray. I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. :thumbsup2

Thanks for posting the link, Seaspray.
Beautiful! Sigh........
We will be there in a few days..well not at the POLY until July. CBR this trip!
Happy 2009!

DH and I are considering a trip here in Dec '09. Right now we are pricing out a garden view for 4 nights at about 2500.00. This would be 12-19 - 12-23.
Are there any discounts I can expect for this time frame or is it too close to Christmas? Is it worth it to upgrade to another type of room (lagoon)? I really want to stay here BUT the huge difference in price between this and a moderate is a hard pill to swallow. So what are all the pros to staying here vs. Coronado??

Thanks for that SeaSpray!! Gorgeous as always! I'm going to keep it in a pop-up window until 1/5, LOL.

Maxinesmom - I'll be interested to hear responses. We are just now considering traveling next Christmas!!! Possibly 10 or so days in Orlando (we'd probably stay off-site, though, and do Sea World and Universal). Or possibly 4 nights at Disney and then heading to a beach somewhere for 6 nights. I've got a lot of decisions to make if we really do it. I'm quite excited!

Which longhouse should I request for a really good lagoon view? Im not sure if I should request it, or just see what we get. :confused3

Im super picky about my views! :snooty: LOL

Hey folks!

Sorry I haven't checked in yet but for the past 5 nights we've been at Pop Century and my aircard reception was pretty crappy out there. Today we got our luggage transferred to the Poly and ran screaming here. LOL! Checked in this morning hoping to get a garden view room in Fiji and.....

WE GOT UPGRADED TO CONCIERGE!!!!!! :woohoo:

I'm still walking around like a 'deer in the headlights' because I still can't believe it happened! We're on the second floor of Hawaii, with a gorgeous view of the quiet pool. We just had a lovely continental breakfast in the lounge and can't wait to see the fireworks tonight from there.

DD9 and I are relaxing in the room for a little while (it is SO quiet here compared to Pop) and then heading down to the volcano pool to swim. Can you believe it's been in the 80's during the day for the past few days?

I'll try to post some photos later. The Gingerbread houses at the Poly this year are amazing!
