Gratz on the upgrade, and it was nice to meet you! (although you didn't know it was me ;) )

Hey folks!

Sorry I haven't checked in yet but for the past 5 nights we've been at Pop Century and my aircard reception was pretty crappy out there. Today we got our luggage transferred to the Poly and ran screaming here. LOL! Checked in this morning hoping to get a garden view room in Fiji and.....

WE GOT UPGRADED TO CONCIERGE!!!!!! :woohoo:

I'm still walking around like a 'deer in the headlights' because I still can't believe it happened! We're on the second floor of Hawaii, with a gorgeous view of the quiet pool. We just had a lovely continental breakfast in the lounge and can't wait to see the fireworks tonight from there.

DD9 and I are relaxing in the room for a little while (it is SO quiet here compared to Pop) and then heading down to the volcano pool to swim. Can you believe it's been in the 80's during the day for the past few days?

I'll try to post some photos later. The Gingerbread houses at the Poly this year are amazing!

That is fantastic!! Congradulations and Enjoy! :cool1:

Gratz on the upgrade, and it was nice to meet you! (although you didn't know it was me ;) )

Yeah but wait until she meets you the NEXT time! :rolleyes1

(See...there's something about meeting you the second time that makes it difficult to resist screaming {screaming in a good way! LOL}.... :scared1: :lmao: )

I'm going to check out the live web cam now!!!! :sunny:

MsStinkerBelle,

Congrats on the fantastic upgrade! Have a great time there with your DD and maybe when you return you can give us your thoughts on staying in the Hawaii building -- I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!:)

Thought I'd pop in and say "Aloha" to all the Poly lovers here! We just booked two days at the Poly before our AKL stay next week, can't wait! We haven't stayed at the Poly for a couple years, hoping to have a magical stay, since we will have a WDW newbie with us this trip! My DD and her friend are looking forward to Kona coffee and the new sushi bar.

I've loved reading everyone's reports, and the photos are great, especially the link to the webcam - thanks, SeaSpray and tecdavidt! That's really making it seem like a long week before we head down. ;)

Have a great time! That's the same split (AKL & Poly) we're trying out in April. I hope you all have a great time at WDW!:)

Hey folks!

WE GOT UPGRADED TO CONCIERGE!!!!!! :woohoo:

Hey--You got my DREAM!!!! Congrats on the fabulous upgrade!! That is the one I am dreaming about everynight. We have a GV room booked for March and I would love to be told we are upgraded to Conceriege!!! I think I would pass out! Congrats and enjoy all they have to offer you there:thumbsup2

By the way, did you make any room requests before your trip? I wasnt sure if I should make one or not, if that would interfere with a possible upgrade or not, but I did request Tokelou. Just wondering if I should have requested or not.

mmmears - :wave2: Thanks! We've done that split once before, and enjoyed it. It is a good combination of unique WDW resorts, I think.

blessedby3 - I know that a lot of DISers have said recently that leaving the room assignment up to chance was a better way of getting an upgrade, but I usually make a request. If there is something you really want, I'd add it to the reservation. An upgrade is a chance thing, not all that likely to happen, and I'd rather get the building, view, floor that I'm most hoping for. The few times I've gone without a request, I got a building/area that I wasn't happy with. That's just me, though, you can take that advice for what it's worth! ;)

Good luck with your planning! :sunny:

:thumbsup2 I agree completely. An upgrade isn't something I can count on, but when I've requested things I usually get them. I would much rather get what I book & request than take the chance on an upgrade.

A little info about the Kona Cafe:

The regular coffee served at the Kona Cafe is a blend--70% Kona, 30% Columbian (according to our waitress). You can buy 100% Kona coffee there for $40/pound.

Well, it's been 3 months and I am dying for WDW and the poly! We've been discussing it over the w/e and looks like we're heading back the last week in June. Just us, no kids, and that week is the only week I have one child away on a church trip and only one to get "child" care for. The buy 4 get 3 free is really good. I am on the fence about whether the extra money is worth it for the Poly but it is just such a beautiful place, and our first stay was so perfect! the alternative is the Contemporary. I am in an ECV and the monorail access is a must. So all you Poly people--finish convincing me please!!

They also have the French press pot which is 100% Kona coffee :)

Ok...here's a little more convincing....LOL... You can ride your ECV right over to the TTC (there's a short path directly from the Polynesian to the TTC) and ride right onto the monorail to Epcot! :)

Thanks for the advice. Ill keep my request for Tokelou and Ill be over the moon if they offer us Hawaii instead:rotfl2:

OK all this talk of requesting rooms really has me thinking I should too. We are going in a little over a month...is it too close to request a 1st level room? Should I call today and see what they say? Is it something I can do online?
