Aloha all!

I just returned from a great 8 nights at the Poly. This was a second trip. All in all it was a great time. The Poly and the grounds look great. They really are keeping up. DH and DD and I enjoyed a beverage in the Tambu lounge on the last night the music was played which I did not know until I came here and read it...

Check in went well. The guy was a little, well let's call him snippy. Apparently, there was nothing in the area I requested. It is all good, I'll just take what I can get , we are at he Poly!!! So we head to our room and dh opens the blinds and low and behold the largest tree is right there. There was not a view of anything but this tree. For two or three nights I can manage, 8 was not going to work. So I go back to the desk and nicely ask him for a change. He snaps back that I paid for a GV room and that is what I got. I calmly explained that a) I was not looking for any type of "upgrade" I perfectly happy with any GV close to GCH, and B) I did not appreciate his tone. I inquired when I may be able to move to a different room and his answer was..."we don't change". Obviously he does not read the Dis. I politely said my goodbyes and headed back to discuss with DH our next step or just be happy with the room. When I walked through the hallway to our room I smelled, well let's say some "herb". I was like Oh great... When I got in the room dh was nuts with the smell. We decided to make the best of the room and just go to MK and get this vacation started. :thumbsup2

We got back to the room and we were not there 5 minuted and Cheech and Chong were at it again. That was it. I called the front desked asked for a manager and the next morning we moved to Figi third floor marina view. It was great DD could see the EWP from the balcony. I have to say, other than Mr. Snippy, we encountered nothing but wonderful customer service the entire trip.

So on our trip goes.

The crowds were crazy but we did fine. Rode everything we wanted.

The weather was warm, hot, cold, rainy, sunny, cloudy, you name it, we got it. Nothing too extreme though! We did get to swam two days. And to all you kiddos swimming when it was in the 60's that is just plain CRAZY! More power to you! :scared1:

We ate at Kona dinner and O'Hana breakfast. No problems getting seated and the food was good.

We like Captain cooks, just wished they had a little more variety but we love the food so It was all good.

So another great trip at the Poly. Things got icky at the end. With two days to go DD spiked 103.5 fever. So thank goodness I did not have that massive tree to stare at my last two days, But the first 6 were awesome and we goy all the "must see and do" done before she got sick so it was all good. If I am going to be stuck in a room with a sick kid, Poly is where I would want to be!!

I'll be happy to answer any ?. DD is still sick so I am homebound. But I have enough laundry to keep me busy till Christmas.

I'm so glad you had such a wonderful trip. I'm sorry about your DD, I hope she gets better soon!!

I'm glad they moved you! I could not imagine having to put up with "cheech and chong" for your entire trip. I would have done the same as you, complained to a manager! Sounds like the new room was great!

Was this your first stay at the Poly? I remember our first stay and we were hooked very quickly.

Welcome home and thanks for the review!!!

:scared1: :sad2: I wonder if some people fail to realize that it is an illegal substance. Wonder if they had to pay the smoking fee? :rotfl2:

Thanks for the report! Wishing I was somewhere else today--snow and cold again! Where is that global warming thing anyway, 'cause it sure isn't here! :headache:

Thanks for the report! :thumbsup2 I'm hoping to get Fiji when we check in in 6 days. So sorry to hear about your DD. Poor thing.

Hi all!
DW and I just got back from another wonderful WDW/Poly trip. We were there 12/4-12/14. We got married at the WP on 12/7 on what turned out to be one of the more gorgeous days of our stay. First 9 nights were in Fiji and our last night (comp night from booking Disney wedding) was in Hawaii CL LV. That was a really nice touch to the end of our stay because we could look out onto the GF Summer House where we had our welcome party, the WP, and of course the castle which served as a backdrop while we exchanged vows. Just a magical experience and the Poly, being as gorgeous as ever, was a major component to our celebration.
Sorry, not much of a TR guy but thought I'd share what I could. :)

has anyone stayed in the rooms at the poly with 5 adults? we have one will be 21 and the rest of us are 25 and older.

we're only staying 3 nights with 5, the remaining 4 nights will have only 3 people. and just so i don't get flamed, yes, we are paying for all 5 people and not trying to stiff disney on anything - we were very lucky and got the stay 4 get 3 free deal and added on the no expiration passes for all 5 of us.

i'm so excited about our stay - it's my first time staying there since i was 2 years old (23 years ago)!

Who has made the trip over to the GF Spa?

From the sounds of it, it is just a quick walk over, but is it worth giving up some pool or park time to hit the spa?

AHHHHHH WE ARE LEAVING TOMORROW!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Will be back on Christmas Eve with full review and pictures!:goodvibes

When we were there in August, our first room also had a strong odor...not Cheech and Chong, but just cig smoke. Actually, the entire floor had an odor. It was terrible. After nearly 3 days of complaining, they finally switched our room. It all worked out well, but it started out a little rough. Maybe Mr. Snippy was one of the people who did not help us either. LOL... Glad you had a great time! I can't wait to be back again in July......

What's wrong with a little Polynesian Spirit wafting thru the air?......................:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Seriously, I hope your DD is feeling better soon. There is so much nasty stuff going around lately. I am glad the holiday break is coming so that the schools will get decontaminated.

IMO it is so worth it. DH and I had a couple's massage while there for a b-day trip in Sept and it was heavenly!

We will be arriving at the Poly Saturday, and since we will have been up since 3:30 am, it's going to be a relax at the resort early to bed day. Our Beloved Cowboys are playing Sat night on the NFL network.:happytv:
Anyone know if Disney resorts get this network? I know Disney owns ESPN, but sadly, they aren't broadcasting the game. If the Poly doesn't get it, any idea of anywhere on property that might?

The Polynesian or any other Disney Resorts don't get the NFL Network, however I am sure the ESPN Club at the Boardwalk would be playing the game.

Were not going to be home on Sat either. So we are hoping the in-laws have nfl network. Have fun at disney.

A fellow September baby!! My 40th is 2009 & we are going to be at the Poly for the long weekend to celebrate.

I'll be the really over the top, obnoxious one in a tiara & "Foxy & Forty" shirt!

I was just wondering what everyone used to keep the bathroom organized. Usually, I bring an over the door organizer for brushes, make-up, hair stuff etc. and hang it in the closet where the sink is, but I see at the Poly, there isn't a closet to hang one in. Any suggestions for organizing?

I still used the over the door organizer, I hung it on the shower curtain rod towards the back of the shower. I just made sure the curtain was covering it when we showered. The bathrooms are big! We are not used to that. I like keeping everything off the bathroom counter, but at the Poly they have double sinks in alot of rooms and there is a shelf over the sink to put things on. here is a pic of our bathroom from last week:

I came back to this thread because I have been dreaming of returning to the Poly since my last visit in March!! I don't have any trips planned for the future but I can't wait to be back!!
