The *NEW* Polynesian Resort FAQ thread - *SEPT 2008*

If this is within 30 days (and I'm making an educated guess here) they should be able to retrieve the shot bo looking up the image id. If you can give the photopass people (and there's a Photopass desk in the Poly on the 2nd level of the GCH) the date the photo was taken, they *should* be able to look it up. All images have a wierd alpha code that's tagged with a date and time. I'm not making any promises but the engineering geek in me says *somebody* should be able to dig this one up. Since you can add the Luau photo to a Photopass card (and I've done it), you should be able to do the reverse. Again, I'm not promising anything but if you get the right Photopass CM with enough 'geek' and drive to provide the Disney touch, they should be able to make this happen for you. Good luck! :thumbsup2

Excellent! I will definitely give that a shot. Thank you Belle, much appreciated :)

I was wondering if someone would be able to possibly answer this question:

We have two reservations at the Polynesian Resort. One is 9 days and the other is 1 day. The reason why they are seperate is because we booked the 9day one with a CAA discount, and the other night we decided to book a few months ago. We will send a fax to the Polynesian, hoping that they will allow us to remain in the same room. I've heard however, that usually you have to check in, check out and check in is this correct?

You do have to check out and check back in. But most likely will not need to change rooms. This takes just a few minutes at the front desk. They do this because the room keys are based on the dates of your reservation. When you first check in make sure to tell the CM that you have a second reservation continuing after the first one. There is only a very small chance that they would want you to change rooms, unless the room category for the 2 reservations are different. We have done this a few times, when you used to need to do this if your reservation overlapped season/rate changes, and have never been asked to change rooms

I have been reading all the posts on this thread and am so excited about this resort that I do have a question. How soon do you need to book a room at the Poly for your stay? I have always wanted to stay here, since our honeymoon in 1990 when it was booked up and we stayed at the Contemporary instead, and we are going to be going on the DVC member cruise next September and thought that a couple days after the cruise would be fun. So I was just wondering how soon do you have to book to be sure you get in. Thanks.

They do still sell out sometimes I gather so I wouldn't wait too long. Happy planning!

One more question as I read through some previous posts..........

Do I need to request (and/or rent) a crib? I could have sworn I read somewhere about all resorts having PnP's in the rooms. And when we stayed at AKL almost 2 years ago, that was what was in the room. A PnP will work fine for us, we don't need a real crib.

Thanks again!

I don't remember pack n plays in the rooms. But they do have cribs available. Just request one when you make your reservation and then call housekeeping when you get to your room. They aren't full size cribs but larger than pnps. They may also have pnps if you call but I'd take a crib over that any day.

That has been our experience too.

Just had to share, because I am ready to burst with excitement! Just 2 more days, and I'll be back at the Polynesian and Disney World! :) I can visualize everything, and the happy feelings are just flowing through me! By 11:00 on Thursday, I will be checking back in! Yippeeee!

And Sea Turtles, a happy, happy wedding day and Disneymoon to you! Maybe we'll get a glimpse of you, if you plan a ceremony at Sunset Pt.

Aloha all!
Big-time Poly thread lurker here. This thread always helps sustain me between Poly trips LOL. We actually leave in 3 days for our Disney Wedding and Disneymoon at the Poly :) Cannot wait!!
Anywho, I'm trying to help a friend who was recently at the Poly and went to the Luau. Her fam misplaced the Luau picture they purchased and was wondering if they had any recourse in obtaining another one. They did try and call but the cast member didn't seem too familiar with that sort of situation. I def plan on asking when I get there but I figured I'd take a stab at it to see if for some reason a Poly Dis'er found themselves in a similar scenario and what action they took.

Many thanks!

You have to tell us the DETAILS!!! Are you getting married at Disney? IF so which day? We wll be there SUnday and maybe we can get a glimpse of you guys! How cool is that? You are going to have an awesome time!

Last March when we were at Disney, I stopped by the Guest Relations Office at Hollywood Studios (MGM). I asked a CM if they could go online at the '24 hour mark' and get my boarding passes for my flight the next night. He was able to do it and timed it perfectly. Right at the 24 hour mark! He said that all Guest Relations in each park could do it. This was great because I was willing to leave my family and go back to the hotel. I didn't have to. I checked when we entered the park. I would suggest the same for anyone considering this. Also bring your paperwork with you to the park for confirmation/flight numbers!

HTH!:)

Wow - what a great hint. We too would like to check-in at the 24 hr mark but it would mean doing it at mid-morning. sure don't want to miss that park time waiting at the hotel.:thumbsup2

The Polynesian is my favorite of all the Deluxe choices,I have stayed several times(the last being in August) but Im sorry to say that Disney has finally priced me out of the option of staying there anymore,I just cant justify the price anymore(I have been coming with family and friends since our first trip in 1976..(we used to love the fact that it was just the poly and the contemporary).I also had a pretty rude check in experinece with a castmember named Wayne, during our last trip and that kind of cemented the deal...oh well I can still visit...and I will still have dinner at the Kona....In fact I have decided to bring the family this February..we are going to rent in Paradise Palms resort//For half the price we get 4 bedrooms 3 full baths and ameneties galore, not to mention our own splash pool in our screened in Lanai...this way we can stay longer and experince even more that wonderful Orlando has to offer families.....But I will always love and cherish our memories of The Poly..

I had to change my dates. Going a week earlier. May 23 - 30. Wonder how crowded it will be that week with Memorial Day?

We have never stayed here before. My wife showed me the reservation and it says Garden View-King Kamehameha Club.

Does this face the park and are there any parts or floors that are better than others,or do i have to request a MK view?
Thanks for your input.

If it says garden view, then it can't have a MK view. Those are opposites, more or less ... they can't co-exist. MK view rooms are a separate category that costs more per night.

You would have to do more than request--you would have to pay more. The garden view is lovely, there is a 30-second walk around the club level building (Hawaii) to see the Magic Kingdom, and there is a GORGEOUS view of the castle from the Concierge lounge. So , unless you just have to wake up to a castle view (okay, I have just HAD to a couple of times), stick with the garden view and enjoy all the other perks of the Concierge building--you may never want to leave the lounge, its food, and the view.

You'll be in the concierge building, Hawaii.:cool1:

The gardenview rooms there are lovely.

Edited to add that the gardenview rooms in that building face the quiet pool. We've always been on the first floor and there is so much landscaping that you can't even see the ppol. The second floor rooms don't have balconies but are located on the same floor as the lounge. The third floor rooms have balconies.

Congratulations!:) I hope you both have a magical:wizard: time there!:)

Thanks! We stayed there years ago and loved it. We always do 'Ohana and Kona each trip, but there is nothing like staying at the beautiful Polynesian!

Hi everyone here, I have read through a number of pages, but have not found the answer to my questions yet. Therefore, I hope someone will be able to help me!

We just booked the Polynesian for a one week stay in January (thanks to the 7/4 offer!! ). It was the resort that I wanted to stay at when I first found out about WDW (being European, it is not commonly known around here), so I am really greatful for the offer to make it just a bit more affordable!! :goodvibes

On to my questions:

1. How long does it take to walk from the Polynesian to the Grand Floridian?

2. We will be arriving with ME, but since we come into Orlando on an international flight, we will have to collect our bags anyway before going through customs. Therefore we will bring those on the bus with us. When we arrive at the resort, would we hand the bag over to a bellman or do we keep the bags with us? If you hand over the bags, do you get a receipt? Will they then deliver the bags to our room, once we are there???

3. How regular are the monorails? Taking the monorail before to go to one of the resort restaurants, I had the impression it was every 10 to 15 minutes, is this correct?

OMG the closer it gets, the more slowly time passes!!!:rotfl2:

Calling soon to make a room request!! All I'm requesting is that we have a balcony... my father wants that more than anything. Other than that, anything extra is just icing on the cake.:goodvibes
