I hope you all enjoyed the photos....so many taken, hard to pic just a few.

Oh, and sorry they were so big....didn't know how to change it!!

BTW, I'm going to post 2 or 3 pics over on the Contemporary thread. Take a peak if you like.

GREAT pictures! Thanks for sharing.

There does seem to be a lot of us going this week!! Hopefully we will run into some of them. I think 3 weeks has us all beat!! Lucky you! :yay:

When I started hearing about TS Kyle, I started getting nervous. But thankfully the projected path has it way far off the Florida coast -- :cool1:

We are hoping to get to the Poly around noon tomorrow. What are the chances of us being able to get into our room that early? I'd love to get all our stuff unloaded, before we head over to MK for the day. MK is open till midnight, so I don't want to me messing with luggage that late w/ 2 sleepy boys. (not that we will make it all the way till 12:00)

You are making me wish I was still there with all the MK talk!

Have a great time!

PN04TE, have a safe flight... and save some space by the pool for us.
We do the first part of our journey to london today, overnight then a 9hr flight over tomorrow morning, so will be there saturday afternoon, for 3 whole glorious weeks at the Poly.....

Hope to see you and hubby around, have a magical anniversary.

Val
xx

I hope your trip is exciting and you get a chance to rest up a bit. I cannot find my LGMHs!!! I will keep looking! So.... here is a photo of the two of us from last year's F&W Festival Family Reunion:

Elin,

I don't know if they will recognize you from that picture. ;) Congrats on your weight loss! :thumbsup2

Thank you shyjade for the "Spirit of Aloha" info. Bummer, but at least now I can start to plan something else.

Another Q for the Poly experts...

I've read a few times on Poly threads about Captain Cooks, that "once you get the flow", it's not that bad.

Can someone please explain the "flow". Sort of walk me through it, from walking in, to paying.
And what are the touch screens used for? ordering? You don't talk to someone to order your food?

Sorry, I can't help you there because I never got the "flow" and just stumbled through it each time. I'll be watching the responses carefully so hopefully I can learn too! ;)

Here's the "flow". Walk up to a touch screen and follow the directions on the screen to place your order. When finished placing your order a receipt will print out, you take that to the cash register and pay. You will be given a portable buzzer to take with you when your food is ready. find a table and when that device goes off head back up to the pick up area (Which is to the left of the ordering touch screens) and pick up your food.

I think they will, Kathy. That is what I look like now after having lost all the weight! Not finished losing yet, but that is about how I am!

I think I've only purchased food once since CC reopened but I thought the lines for the register would work better if they were reversed. After you paid, you had to circle back past the line to get to the napkins, etc. and that was a fairly tight space at least in the line I was in. Anyone else notice that?

Thanks DisneyDad in PA.

Followup - Is the touch screen used for everything? or just entrees?
Are their items for sale like chips/drinks/snacks that you can just get yourself?

I'm guessing yes, so if I want an entree and a drink, I first use the touch screen, then get my drinks/snacks, then pay, and come back when my buzzer goes off?

I plan on having most of my breakfasts there. Do they keep thinks moving along?

:goodvibes

The touch screen is only for the items on the menu above. So anything like chips, drinks and items in the fridge you take yourself.

Also if you wanted a Dole Whip you need to use the touch screen for that and you will be given a reciept. You then pay for it at the cash register and the Cast Member will give you the cup to fill it up.

Hi Everyone. We checked in last Sunday at about 2:30 after our 11AM flight out of Philly. I had requested Tahiti or Tokeleloi 3rd floor on our reservation. The very sweet lady who checked us in (we took the ME from the airport with no complaints) was very nice and I made no requests for upgrades or even enquired if my requests had been met. I just smiled at her and my husband and I admired the lobby of the Poly and waited for her to hand us our info. I almost died when she told us we had been given a complementary upgrade to Hawaii:banana: . Our room in Hawaii was 3rd floor garden view with a side view of the volcano pool. The conceirge staff was wonderful and we loved the goodies and drinks that were put out. The lounge was fabulous for viewing Wishes and we are now spoiled . We took a walk later in the week to the GF and saw a wedding with a bride dressed like Cinderella and the beautiful glass coach and white horses were out for her. I took photos and will post. I will also get photos up of our Hawaii room views when I figure out how to post. We had a great week. Highlights were..our upgrade to Hawaii at checkin , Tusker House lunch (delish!), seeing that magical wedding in progress at the GF..what a dress, and the congenial staff at the Poly. We met no one who was rude. Our room was very quiet. We were at the end of hall, so we only had one neighbor next . It was very quiet. The parks were pretty quiet and "do able" in our opinions. Both pools were great. We actually liked the quiet pool better. The volcano pool got very crowded in late afternoon.
Things we didn't like: Kona Cafe:sad2: ...the service was awful. The waitress forgot my DH's orange juice and never brought him a glass of water that he asked for. Compared to Boma (who had the best service of any place we went..Kona seemed even worse) Another annoying thing was one day we came back to our room after 4pM and our room still wasn't cleaned. We just told the maid when she came around to give us clean towels. That only happened once. We liked being on the monorail because The BUSES! We only had a bus issue once and that was at Animal Kingdom..we waited 35 minutes for a bus back to the Poly. The night we had dinner at Boma we took a cab:thumbsup2 Mousekeeping was great except for that one incident and I got tons of great H2O products and brought a lot home . The solar gel is great. Will post photos when I can. It was a great week, we love the Poly. We are seriously thinking of changing our June reservations from the GF to the Poly.

how could you not enjoy??? :goodvibes

your mom did a GREAT job on the costumes!

I love this new thread!!! I had lurked on the old one before, but started going through Disney Withdrawl, so had to stay away from trip planning boards so I don't end up planning a trip we can't afford!!! We are hoping to get back to the Poly in Dec. 2009.

I'm loving the Live updates and Trip Reports! Stephanie, thanks for posting your pics...Those Pirate costumes are awesome..your Mom did a great job!!

Shell54, congrats on the upgrade..that's great (and I guess you answered out earlier ??as to would requesting a certain building affect your chances of a Pixie Dust Upgrade...NO!!!) I can't wait to see all of your pics!!

As to the cost of the views issue..I don't really understand that either...although since we aren't in the room much, I'm not a big "view" person, it's more about location with me...although i do admit, I'd be unhappy with a $355/nt parking lot view. I'd certainly rather pay more for CL service than lagoon or theme park view..I had never really noticed this pricing structure, as I am usually just looking for the least expensive way to stay at the Poly possible, but I will certainly check it out the next time I am planning a trip.

Those of you who are there now of going soon...have a fun, safe trip!!

We'll be at the Poly Oct 9-13 and I've tried many times to have any of the available discounts appiled to our reservation without any luck. It's not the end of the world, but it would have been nice. Anyway I've looked at the discount threads on the board and have noticed that there weren't too many posting about receiving a discount for the Poly. So I was just curious if anyone keeping up with this thread had received one. TIA

Just got back from our first ever stay at the POly and we loved it! When we checked in they had our ressies wrong. I was listed as a child instead of an adult. I was very patient and excited to be there with DH and 3 kiddies so waited patiently. The Cm appeared new and nervous and had a manager fix the ressie. I had my paperwork which showed the correct info which did help. While they were fixing the problem I kindly mentioned that we had requested 3rd flr somoa and was there anything available- there was!! and it was only 11 am! Wow! We got to check into our room and get a little settled before lunch at Capt. Cooks and off to the park. We ended up in room 3602 which had an amazing view of the Volcano pool and bay lake. I hadn't requested the volcano side of the pool so I felt extra lucky! I found the hotel very quiet and our room was directly in front of the elevator. I never heard anyone! We never heard noise from the pool either unless we had the balcony door open. I found the resort very quiet. I mention this because the Unofficial guide soesn't give it the bst noise rating. I found the lighting in the room very adequate, although the bathroom lights could be brighter for applying makeup. STill it was not horrible by any means. Dinner at Ohana was our favorite meal of the trip. Now we don't love Capt. Cooks but we may be biased. Last year we stayed at the GF and their food court was excellent and we loved all the choices. Capt Cooks was fine for breakfast but we didn't love the lunch/dinner choices. But that's just us and someone else could totally love it. If you have any questions let me know. We loved the POLY!

coasterfiend, I wasn't able to get a discount for the Polynesian for Oct. either. We'll be at the GF for our resort part of our vacation as a result. But we'll still be visiting.:cool1:

karapp75, sounds like a great trip. Isn't it a great thing when the room is ready that early. Just starts the trip with pixie dust. I bet your room had a great view of Seven Seas Lagoon and the pool. Could you see the GF and the marina as well?
