Just wondering if anyone has heard this....The Contemporary is renovating their pools starting January 5th and they will be closed for 2 months. The guest there will be directed to the Poly pool. I know it's January, but temps can be warm enough for a swim and I wouldn't be too happy to have all those extra people joining me if I'm staying there. Hopefully most will think it's too much of a hassle to "pool hop", even if it may be legal. Just a heads up for anyone staying Jan and Feb.

When I read that my 1st thought was how come they are not told to use the pool at the Wilderness Lodge? In the past when the Wilderness Lodge pool was closed for renovation guests were told to use the pool at the Contemporary, so I thought it would have been the same thing just the other way around.

When my sis and her family stayed at the Poly this past spring the pool was being renovated so they had to use the GF's pool, which they actually liked much more.

Where would be the best garden view longhouse to request with a person who has trouble walking long distances? My mom, who is 77 will be with me and want to make the trip as comfortable as possible.

LilyU is right. Raratonga first floor would be great. So would Niue. The entrance is about 10 steps further than Raratonga but it's a small building so every room in it is close to the GCH. I would be sure to mention why you are requesting first floor and then request either building.

We (dd & myself) will be arriving around 10:30/11p.

How is check-in @ the Poly for late arrivals?

You'll have no problem checking in at that time. Have fun!

I haven't been on the Dis in about 2 days, "what did I miss, what did I miss???"

I'll be there in less than 72 hours!!!!
I do plan on doing a mini-live report while there. I just can't wait to get to the Poly! It will be my first time staying there! Just hoping for a magical week!

I hope it is wrong!! I don't know why they would change the way it's always been, but with the way things have been going with Disney lately....anything is possible!!

Since the pool renovations at the Contemporary are to start in Janurary 2009, I will ask about them when I stay there this December. So hopefully I will be able to find out why they are not going to the Wilderness Lodge pool like they have in the past, assuming it's true that they can swim at the Polynesian.

First off, I've been reading this great thread ever since I book my Poly res. a month ago, and thanks to all who have contributed to my hours of enjoyable reading.

Now my Q, I've been trying to book a reservation for the week of Jan 11 at the "Spirit Of Aloha" but they keep saying either:
1. they are converting to a new reservation system, and the can't book that week.
2. There is no show at all that week...but they can't tell me why.

Does anyone know what's going on that week with the dinner show?
I'll be really if the show is canceled that week.

I'm almost ready! We'll be hitting the road in about 23 hours. I think I've got most of our stuff packed, but I'm sure I will forget something. Being someone that is on the Disboards so much, I have quite the long list of stuff to bring. Everyone always has such good ideas here! I've been using their help for the past 3 trips-- hopefully more to come!!
I just did the final iron-on of our personalized Stick Figure Family tshirts. Sooo Cute! Hopefully DH won't throw too much of a fit to wear it!
I also have my LGMH's on my stroller & backpack. I usually tape a few to my room door as well.
Any last minute advice about the Poly?
