PN04TE & Team Disney -- so cool that we will all be there the same time! Maybe we will run into eachother. I plan to spend a few evenings at the pool. I have to boys 6 & 3. They will probably be looking for other kids to play with, Team Disney!

How Nice! I have two boys as well 8 & 4. Saturday night they will be staying with their Grandparents (who are visiting with us for an overnight, staying at pop). Sunday night we are going to MNSSHP. But MOnday & Tuesday we should be around.

I have to make a trip to Home depot for my Lime green Mickeys! We are staying garden view. There is a good chance I will have a few pink highlites in my hair for the trip.... Hoping I get the chance!:cutie:
Feel free to say hi!

Shell54- Maybe I will catch you as I check in on the 26th! Hope you have a great time!

PNo4te-Have an awesome anniversary! I will toast you with one of those adult beverages I have been hearing about!

Lillycat- Is this the first time for your 15 month old? She will have a blast! My oldest went when he turned a year and I believe we took my youngest at 2 years old. There is plenty for them to do! My little ones loved it then and still do now! Enjoy

I am in the single digits now and can't believe that this weekend is my last before we leave!!:cloud9:

What happened to our live reporters? I demand you take time from your fabulous vacations to let us know what you are doing!! :rotfl:

Seriously, hope you all are having a great time.

Are you allowed to take food from the concierge lounge back to the room or do they frown on this? I heard they had an issue with people taking water bottles and not then wasting them so now they don't have those anymore. :guilty:

I just tend to get up before my kids (this only happens at WDW by the way) and was wondering if I could run down there a pick a few things up so they can eat and get ready.

You can absolutely bring food from the lounge back to your room. ::yes::

not single digits yet, but getting close :). I got my documents today, and bought the last parts to our MNSSHP costumes:yay:

Yes it will be her first trip!!! DH and I are so excited to take her!! I can't wait to see her expression - she has been running around the house carrying her minnie and mickey dolls (and feeding them)...

I'm making sure to get her to MK as soon as we get there since country bears goes down for rehab on Sunday - she has seen the show on youtube and claps and rocks away. I have been showing her some of the rides and parades on youtube and she just lights up! Hopefully she will enjoy it! We are taking this trip at her pace.

We're just outside York. Where are you from?

Hey! I work in York! Actually all over York County, to be specific. I have to agree with you. I don't care for the city very much. I have a few clients right in the city and it can be a bit unsettling at times. I prefer the northern part of the county.

Nice to see others close by love the Poly as much as I do!

Well, the family doesn't know it, but a limo is picking us up in an hour!! (they think it's a van....surprise!)

Have a great week everybody.

Aloha:)

Feel free to say hi!:

Oh cool! My boys are closer to 7 & 4- both birthdays are soon.
But I'm sure we will be at the pool at least 1 of those nights. I'd like to spend a little more down time this trip. We're staying longer than we ever have before, so there is a little more flexibility.
We are in a garden view as well. If you see two brothers fighting, and their mom struggling to keep control- that's us!! :rolleyes1 (and DH will be lugging around all our junk!!)

Congrats on your anniversary!
We'll miss all you guys by a day or two. We'll be there 21-26...and it's just DH and me too and we can't wait:lovestruc
4 more sleeps!!!

And Happy Anniversary, PNO4TE.:goodvibes

PNo4te-Have an awesome anniversary! I will toast you with one of those adult beverages I have been hearing about!

Thanks, everyone! :goodvibes and I am sure Bob and I will be able to toast you all with a few of those adult beverages too. After all, it is the F&W Festival, and we have some awesome ADRS too.

Hello! We're just back from six nights at the Polynesian, September 10-16. I'm happy to report that the resort is just as beautiful as ever!

We arrived last Tuesday at 11:00 am and our room was ready and waiting for us. We were thrilled to see our location: Tokelau room 1948, which I am now convinced is the greatest garden-view room in the whole resort. It is the first room to the right of the longhouse's "front door," so we didn't have any neighbors on the bed & bath side of the room and it was very quiet! We also didn't have to wait for the elevator for our son's wheelchair. Plus, we were only steps away from the quiet pool, half a minute from the beach, and a short walk to both the Great Ceremonial House and the TTC. I couldn't have picked a better location!

The resort grounds are absolutely lovely right now too ... lush and green and loaded with wonderfully-scented blooming vegetation. It almost made me wish the morning coffee-walk to Captain Cook's was a little longer. (But alas, the checkout line at Captain Cooks was a different story. Too long and painfully slow-moving due to all-around confusion with the DDP. However, that's another story ... )

Anyhow, here are my impressions:

My favorite things about the Polynesian:

1. The MONORAIL!!! You can't beat it for a family with a stroller or wheelchair (or anyone, for that matter). The cars have been remodeled since the last time were were down so that now every single car can be rolled onto. Hooray! Easy access to both monorail loops sealed the deal for this wheelchair-pushing family.

2. Fireworks from the Beach, and the EWP. What better to end your evening than with a tropical drink and a spot on the sand, listening to the Wishes soundtrack being piped in over the pathway speakers while watching the gorgeous fireworks burst all around the castle. Absolutely magical! We did this three times!

3. The Pool. I know, it's not the biggest on property, but it is wonderfully atmospheric. How many places can you swim in view of the lagoon and the castle? My multi-handicapped son was able to enjoy the pool too, because he could wade in to his comfortable depth (which is very shallow), splash around and have fun. I enjoyed the tropical plants growing all around the pool deck, and even found a place near the zero-entry with a little shade in the afternoon for us to sit under. It's the most fun we've had in a pool in years.

4. The laaaarge rooms. We are a family of four, with three adults, so the extra room and daybed were much appreciated. Our 18-year old daughter utilized the patio often to text her boyfriend in private. And the beds! Oh, the beds! I think they are the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. And I've slept in a lot. Thank you, Polynesian!

5. The ATMOSPHERE! So tropical and relaxing, you never want to leave. And the grounds are impeccable. I loved it, loved it, loved it.

And for completeness' sake, My small disappointments:

1. Mousekeeping. Four nights out of the six we were there, the cleaning left something to be desired. One day it was obvious that the floor hadn't even been swept. The bath wall was rather moldy as well, which could have been easily remedied with a few squirts of Tilex. I didn't mind the lack of towel animals, but I do expect a little better housekeeping when staying at a deluxe resort.

2. No ventilation in the bathroom. No exhaust fan, no AC, nothing. Even a short shower resulted in stifling heat and humidity, and unwipeable steamy mirrors. The only way to clear the bathroom of steam or other unpleasant vapors was to leave the door open. Not an option when a family of four is all staying in the same room. Perhaps this was just our room, I don't know, but it got reeeeealy old after a day or two.

3. Free DDP. This is in no way the fault of the resort, unless you count having very popular restaurants, but having the Polynesian's three dining options constantly clogged made our stay there a bit less fun. There was no way to get a full-service meal unless you had booked it months in advance, even during a supposedly slower season. And sometimes, you find simply youreslf at your resort at suppertime, even if you hadn't planned it last March. One night we did hop the monorail and eat at the Grand Floridian Cafe, the only monorail restaurant with availability. The meal was very good, but not quite the relaxed atmosphere we would have preferred. If Disney wants to offer free dining, they need more restaurants or to leave more tables open for resort guests.

But despite those few glitches, we really had a wonderful stay, I swear it! We truly enjoyed the beauty and convenience of the resort. I would stay there again in a heartbeat, but would try to avoid a free DDP time due to the restaurant issues. All in all, though, the resort's many positives greatly outweighed the few negatives. I hope everyone staying at the Polynesian soon has as wonderful a time as we did!

Boy, I sure hope that everyone headed to the Poly over the next couple of weeks has their LGMHs so we don't keep walking past each other! ;)

Aloha all!!

I'm a tiny bit scared for my trip in December. I keep on being told that all of the Polynesian Garden View rooms are sold out. Some of the Lagoon View & Conceirge must be too but i'm not sure. I just hope the resort isn't too too busy.

I'm so happy to hear that you had such a great stay despite a few glitches. We haven't stayed there since 97 but I'm hoping it will be the pefect place for DH and I to celebrate our 20th anniversary next year. Thanks for the report, it's nice to know the Poly is still a beautiful place to stay.

Wow, you are here now! Hope you have a LGMH, I'll be watching out for you!

BuckeyeBelle, thanks for the report. We'll be there in 2 days..I can't wait!:dance3:

I'm glad you had a wonderful trip. I would have gone nuts with the bathroom fan being out as well. It is such a beautiful resort and I'm glad you didn't let the few negatives win out!

Buckeyebell--thanks for the informative summary. We will be there in 6 days! I am in an ECV and have requested ground floor Tokelau--not guaranteed I know but it looked great from the map. Glad you had an awesome time.

Also, general question: We have two rooms booked, one for us and one for the kids, and so connecting or at least next to each other is a 'must'. Our trip is TA "owned" but do you think if I called the Poly directly Monday to just make sure they have the connecting request in their computer they at least wouldn't hang up on me?

Good Morning Everyone!!!

It's been a couple days since I've been able to get on here and say hello....but we've been a little busy! :lmao:

I'll start with MNSSHP, What a blast we had!! We left the resort at 4ish all decked out in our pirate costumes and we were a hit from the get go. People were pointing and watching us walk over to the monorail the entire way. I was a little shy in the beginning, but that soon subsided and we actually started playing the role of pirates just to have a little fun!!

We arrived at the MK and again, a lot of comments and looks. Then it started...little kids coming up to DH and asking him to shake hands with them since they loved Capt. Jack! :rotfl: Then there were many, many requests for pics of us from other guests. At one point they were lined up and we had to stand a pose for a good 5 mins. Finally, we arrived at the Plaza for dinner and while sitting waiting, again had many requests for pics. Some even joined in the photo and had their pic taken with us. (the whole pic thing was crazy to me...I DO NOT like my pic taken to begin with, but I went along anyway!)

The party got started and it was great. Not crowded at all. Candy was a plenty and the rides were walk on. Fireworks were amazing as was the parade. Capt Jack saw us from the parade and bowed to my DH and posed for me to take pictures!! Overall, it was an amazing night!

I met Inkedupmoma, a fellow DISer on the monorail back to the Poly. :wave2: Hi, it was nice talking with you and your DH. I hope you all had a great trip!!

Slept in a bit yesterday and then went to Epcot around 10. It was quiet, wait times were minimal when we got there. Soarin' was only 15 mins. We had a 1120 lunch at Garden Grill, so we grabbed fast passes before we ate. Lunch was great and the characters were amazing!! My DS 7 loves Chip and Dale so this is a must for us so he can see them. As we were being seated, Dale grabbed DS's hand and walked him to our seat. He was SO excited. Everytime Chip or Dale came to our table, they spent an extra few minutes with him, playing games and even asking for Kyle if they could come home with him. It was awesome!!! We did the Disney Visa photopass meet and greet with Mickey, Minnie and Goofy. That was great as well. When we went and got our 2 free photos (DH and I have seperate cards), we were able to choose any photo we wanted, so we chose 2 from the party the night before. I will post pics later of everything!!!

Last night we went to La Nouba! If you haven't seen this and get the opportunity.....GO!!! Worth every cent we spent on tickets!! DH said we might go back in January when him and I come back down without the boys! I wouldn't complain one bit about it!!

We shopped after the show and DTD was pretty crowded, no surprise. We grabbed a bite to eat at Earl of Sandwich and got back the room about 1030.

Today we are off to BB again. Hopefully my luck at the waterparks this year will take a turn for the better! :rolleyes1 Tonight it's the MK and finally Spectro!! Cant be out voted this time, our last day is tomorrow and I can't believe I haven't seen it yet!!

I hope everyone has a magical day!!!!!!!! :goodvibes

BuckeyeGal, I know the room you had! When we were realizing our daughter would need an accessible room I asked the front desk if we could see one. A nice lady showed DD and I that room. This was probably close to 20 years ago now and it has been bugging me for years as I just can't remember...is it a roll in shower or accessible tub room?

Don't you love the monorails with a wheelchair? And the Polynesian is the best due to the TTC. Did you try the ferry to or from MK. It's so easy in a chair too.

The fan in your bathroom must have been broken. If it happens again, I would call. That may be the type of thing that a mousekeeper wouldn't notice.:confused3

Glad you had such a great trip.:cool1:

Stephanie, have fun at Spectro!
