Good Afternoon fellow Poly lovers!!

This morning we went to DHS for rope drop. I was surprised just how crowded it was being last night was EMH there. I guess everyone was coming back for Toy Story Midway Mania. At rope drop, I was the runner for our family and went ahead for fast passes. I was like the 3rd to get them for the day and we proceeded to get in the stand by line to ride. Walked right on and WOW! How fun is that! It's definately one of my top ten favorite rides now. We went and did the Backlot Tour where I was chosen to be an extra in the little show at the beginning. I was a deck hand and had to be cleaning up the deck (they gave the 2 women extras this task, I'm guessing because they figured we are used to cleaning things at home :lmao: ) It was a blast to be in the short show. BTW, the rain gear they give you is NOT water proof at all. I got soaked, straight thru the jacket. After finishing this tour, we went back to ride TSMM with our fast passes. Again, this is a must do ride!!

We headed over to Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular next and then over to star tours. Grabbed a fast pass, but rode it anyway because the line was pretty short, only about 10 min wait.

Went towards ToT and RR, but my little one, who is a total dare devil wasn't feeling so great (I think he's just tired) so we decided to come back here to the room to get some rest before we head out for a long night at MNSSHP. I'm VERY excited about tonight as my mother has made us all pirate costumes to wear and they turned out fabulous! (she's VERY VERY good at sewing).

On the way out of DHS and back to the car (we have been driving everywhere because we are tired of waiting on busses!!) First time ever we haven't been using Disney transportation! Anyway, on the way out, we ran into 3 DISers from England....:wave2: Hi you guys!! Hope you have a safe trip home tomorrow!

As I sit here and write this, I'm guessing we made the right decision to come back here and rest since My DH and two of my DSs are snoring!! :rotfl:

Ok I'm off to try and get some rest...I will fill you all in tomorrow on the party.

Thanks again for reading!!

We are originally from Punxsutawney, the other side of the state. We lived in Gettysburg for a while too. York is a lovely, small "city" I think! We have visited there a number of times and have a couple of other DIS friends who live near there too!

We live outside the "city" thank goodness. (don't tell anyone, but I really don't care for York at all...been here 4 years and it's not getting any better!)
I like Gettysbury and I know where Punxsutawney is as well, but never been.

Hi Everyone,
First of all-thank you for this thread! I've really enjoyed reading about everyone's experiences at the Polynesian. In November my Mom (celebrating her 50th b-day), my sister (26), my daughter (2), and myself will be heading to the Poly for the first time. We are super excited! As this is our first visit we weren't really sure as to whether we should request a room location or not (we will be staying in a standard garden view room). So, anyway, I had to call DIS the other night to confirm some changes to our reservation and the very helpful and nice CM said that the POLY is her favorite resort and we def should request to stay in Tokelau or Tahiti. So she said she went ahead and put the request in. However, when we received the updated confirmation email she had put in a request for Tokelau or Hawaii, which I understand to be only club level rooms?! Is this going to be a problem. Should I call back and ask them to change it? I don't want the CM checking us in to think we're asking for an upgrade or being presumptuous. What do you all think?? Thanks in advance for your time! -Kelly

Tokelau and Tahiti both have garden view rooms, but Hawaii is 100% conceirge. Perhaps the nice CM was hoping to get you an upgrade, or perhaps she just made an error? :confused3 But regardless, the Poly is a great resort and I'm sure you'll love it!!

No reason to go there, unless you want to join the throngs on February 2! ;)

Have fun at the party tonight!! pirate:

Ohhhh great a new thread!! :cool1: :cool1:

I can't believe it is almost time for our trip! 17 days (well 16 and 18 hours) until we take our DD for her first trip to the world! I haven't stayed at the poly since I was a child - DH has only stayed at the AKL so we are really excited.

I'm stressing though that I will forget something I need for DD but I guess if I forget it we will have a car so it isn't a big deal. There are too many threads and packing suggestions - bad enough we are only packing one bag each never mind taking all the extras. I might just bring that second bag since we are grandfathered in with Delta.

We want to do a quick run to the store the afternoon we arrive maybe when DD naps so my parents can watch her- can anyone tell me where the best place to go to for (we will have a rental car) diapers, yobaby yogurt, whole milk, cereal, fruit for the room and snacks for the room and bottled water etc? I don't think I want to ship stuff down ahead of time.

Looks like we might be arriving the same day! We'll be checking in on the
27th. I'm a native NY'er as well!! You just might see my LGMH's around the resort!

You are so right about the jackets!! My DH (actually this was before we we re married) got chosen several years ago and got soaked!

Can't wait to hear about MNSSHP. It's one of my favorite things (even though we've only been once)!!

GREAT Question, Nikki! I'd love to know the answer as well. From what I can TELL, when people DO get upgraded, it's always to a more preferred room, KWIM?

Is it rude to ask for an upgrade while you are checking in? I've never asked for one before, but this trip be a great time to get one!

You might just want to inquire as to how much an upgrade would be or if any are available and then see what happens. You know, start the conversation without actually asking outright for one.;)

Sounds like a good idea to me! That just might be how I go about it. I'm not usually a pushy or forward person, so a subtle little slip into conversation just might do the trick!!

Well, here's some pixie dust your way pixiedust: Good luck!!

Although I would take a supply closet or hammock, even, if I could be there next week like you are!!

you live in Punxsy?? How long have you lived in the area? My inlaws are still there and my family lived there for four generations!

PN04TE & Team Disney -- so cool that we will all be there the same time! Maybe we will run into eachother. I plan to spend a few evenings at the pool. I have to boys 6 & 3. They will probably be looking for other kids to play with, Team Disney!
