Regarding the entertainment at the Ohana, there was a lovely, Hawaiian woman who played the ukelele and gave some hula lessons and faciliated the coconut races with the children, she was very cute and a very good entertainer.

That would be Lipoa. My DD8 absolutely *loves* her and likes to get right behind her in line when she plays the ukelele (and has the kids walk around with her) and sings around the restuarant. :thumbsup2

I have been wondering where you have been lately. I am really sorry and I think the trip in memory of your father would be a wonderful tribute. I am sure it will be very meaningful.

Does anyone know how much the champagne costs? I want to buy a bottle for our trip next month.

Well, I haven't posted in a while. We have been at the beach for about 10 days!! We had a great time and now I am ready to go to WDW!!

I have a Laundry Question: Does anyone know the prices for sending out your laundry? One thing that I learned at the beach was, that we sure had a lot of dirty clothes, and that was just me, DH and DD16, DS1 did not go with us.

Do you think it would be better for us to take a cab to the grocery store or use garden grocer?

SeaSpray, I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family. :grouphug:

There is a range of costs here - it all depends on how nice a bottle you want. If you call room service, they will let you know what is available, and what the price is.

Terry has a laundry price list posted toward the bottom of the very first post.

I would use Garden Grocer. We haven't as we always have a rental car but lots of DVCers do and everyone seems very happy. It would save you time and money I think.

Thanks for the replys!! I went and looked at that first post. The prices are as follows:

LAUNDRY
shirts 5.50
Pants 6.50
Socks 2.00
Undershorts/Panties 2.00
T-shirts 4.50
Sweatsuit 7.50
Pajamas 6.00
Undershirts & Bras 2.00
Handkerchiefs 2.00
Blouses 5.50
Slips 4.50
Nightgowns 6.00
Tennis shorts 5.00
Knit shirt 5.00

Is it the same prices for Baby Clothes too? Anyone ever used the service? Seems kind of steep for infant sizes?
You can also ship stuff to yourself at the resort, right? That may be a good thing to do also.

Obviously, we take the monorail to MK; and I assume we walk to the TTC and hop on a monorail to EPCOT, but what is the quickest way to AK and HS?:drive:

The buses from the Polynesian. You can also get a bus to Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom at the TTC, however in the time it takes to walk there you could have already been waiting for the bus at the Polynesian. Although if you end up staying in the Tahiti Longhouse which is right by the TTC then it might make more sense to get the buses at the TTC.

RE:Laundry.....how much does it cost to do laundry there at the Poly? I don't think i want to spend that kind of money to send it out. Do you have to sit there while the laundry runs or is it safe to leave it and come back in an hour?

THANKS!

I've only done laundry there a couple times but I think it was $2/load for the washer. Same for the dryer I think.

There's either a sign or an indicator about how long the wash cycle takes. I think it was around 1/2 hour not an hour. When I did it, I went quite early in the am...maybe 6am or so. Put the clothes in, walked over to get tea and walked back to change the loads. There's a TV in the outer room with several chairs to pass the time. I know lots of people post that they go to the pool while doing laundry.

Oh, and the building is locked during the night hours so you need your room key to access it if you go very early as I did.

Great....thanks for the info! With 2 little ones, I'm sure we'll be doing laundry at least once! :rolleyes1 I'll probably try to do it while they are napping in the afternoon! I guess (Since you said they had tv's) there is more than one machine there?

Not sure how to figure out how to pack for DECEMBER. I understand I need a bit of everything. YIKES!

There's one small TV in the waiting room outside of the actual laundry room. It's up high on a shelf in the corner. There are six or seven chairs in therem and a pop machine.

The main laundry room is pretty large ... maybe a dozen washers and a dozen dryers? And there's a big table in the middle for folding.

HTH! :)

A dozen each sounds about right to me, Amy.

And yes it is a small TV up in the corner...at least last time I used the laundry room. Still it was nice for trying to catch the news.

Picabo, in Dec. and January you just never know about the weather. I pack for layering. It can be 50 in the am, 80 by midday and back down to 50 at night. I remember a Christmas week when my husband wore shorts the entire week. You just never know.

Wahhhh! This does not help BCV! ;) I want a cut and dry answer about the weather in January :) :) :)

Seaspray

I want to let you know that you and your family are in my prayers. You have to count your blessings everyday because you never know what tomorrow will bring.

I live in New Jersey. Where in NJ did your parents live?

I guess its a good thing we are driving in Dec. I don't think I could afford the baggage fees at an airline if I have to pack a little of everything.
