* How is the crowd at the TTC on any given day? My parents are using ECV's and we don't want to keep many people waiting.

That is so considerate! Obviously I can't speak for everybody, but we never mind waiting for EVCs...just thankful we don't need them yet!

2 questions:
Time it takes to get from the Poly to the GF (we have an ADR at 8am)
and time it takes to get from GF to MK (probably around 9:30am)

I guess it depends what Longhouse you are in if you are walking. We were in Figi and was about a five to seven minute stroll.

Or you could take the monorail in about 5 minutes, again, depending what longhouse you are in taking into account walking to the GCH.

If you leave your room by 7:30 a.m. you'll be fine.

You can either take the monorail or a boat to MK from GF. Travel time by each would take 15 min tops!

Thanks! I'm bringing my parents for their first time @ Disney. They're both in their 70's and can't handle the long walks, which is understandable. But reality is some people get frustrated because they have to wait for the EVCs or wheelchairs to load first. I guess everybody is in a hurry these days. So we'll take which ever is going to be faster and less hassle. And if that means walking (or rolling) to the TTC, then so be it.

I'm joining my bf for a business trip in Tampa in a few weeks. I'm surprising him with a nights stay at the Poly MK view (which I have never stayed in before, always garden view rooms for me which have always been fabulous). I'm so excited as he doesn't know and hasn't been to WDW in 9 years and has never seen the resorts. We're not going to any of the parks as we're only there for a day and a half and honestly after doing a few trips in July before and then going during the "value season" it's hard to not get annoyed or frustrated at the July crowds . Anyways, after dinner at 'Ohanas I'm planning on heading down to the beach to watch the Electric Water Pageant/Wishes or going back to the room if we have a balcony. My question is can you take alcoholic drinks from the Tambu lounge down to the beach or would I have to get room service drinks and take them down there or I could always pack a cooler! I would prefer to be able to get drinks from the bar if possible though. Anyone know? TIA!

Also, do I request a balcony when checking in or do they still do room requests if I call in ahead of time? I know it's not guaranteed but I would love to be able to sit out on the balcony at night or in the morning before we leave!

This is just a guess but I don't think you would be allowed to take alcoholic drinks from the Tambu Lounge onto the beach. However you could purchase some alcoholic drinks at Samoa Snacks and I am sure you would have no problem taking them to the beach.

As for your room request you can call them ahead of time to request it and when you are checking-in ask them again about the request, so hopefully they will be able to make it happen.

We took some of our own in a cooler to the beach. There is also a pool bar where you could buy your grown-up beverages.

They are only open until 7:00 PM, so it's something NeverlandClub23 should know ahead of time.

The pool bar is open later than 7:00 p.m. during the higher seasons, i.e., summer months. If you are going in a few weeks, the pool bar should be open beyond 7:00 p.m. When we were there (and on our many visits in June), the pool bar has been open until 9:00 p.m. or later. This would enable you to get drinks prior to Wishes and/or the Electrical Water Parade.

Also, it is possible to get drinks "to go" from Tambu. You simply need to let your server know that you will be taking them from the bar and they will mix them in appropriate plastic cups, at least they have for us in the past.

A cooler is certainly a good option as well. Save some $$ and bring your own.

It is 100% possible to take drinks from the Tambu Lounge to go - we've done it often. Once I ordered a Lapu Lapu and expected it in a plastic cup since we asked for it to go - but I was able to still get it in the pineapple! We took our drinks out to the end of the boat dock where you get the launch to MK and watched EWP from there. The music is piped in and it's a great location.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread! It has been so helpful! We go to WDW every other year (at least) but have always stayed off-site in a condo. This March we are staying at the Poly, and I am SO EXCITED!! We've visited the Poly many times for breakfast at Kona Cafe and have always wanted to stay there. I'm running in the Disney Princess Half Marathon in March, so we decided it would be much easier to stay on-site. Looking forward to learning all I can about this resort from all of you Poly Veterans!

If you book a theme park view - can anyone tell me what long houses offer that option?

This year we are staying at WL. It is our first trip to WDW, after reading more I really think we would have been wise to book some place on a monorail. So am thinking about next year. Our DDs are 4 (will turn 5 while we are at WDW). We figure we'd still use a stroller for now - and possible next year too if they tucker out fast.

Captain Cooks was GREAT! My daughters had Mickey waffles almost everyday and I had the tonga toast...which I miss already, truely a treat for me!

Yep, had it last month, too!! I'm desperately trying to recreate it at home. Made some pretty yummy mistakes, but nothing like the real thing!
