we have a garden view ressie for the end of sept. My girls would actually love to have one of the rooms that see the monorail, but I want to be close to the TTC. If we get one of the rooms that can see the monorail, how far is the walk over to the TTC from that longhouse? TIA for the info...;)
The Tahiti Longhouse is the closest one to the TTC and it's less then 5 minutes from there.

I'm so happy to have found these boards! My DH is already sick of hearing about the million details, and my friends think I'm NUTS to be planning this far in advance, but y'all seem to really get it.

After some hemming and hawing, I think I'm going to change our 7 PM 'Ohana New Year's Eve reservation to include just my DH and me, and go ahead and take our DD to the Neverland Club at 6:15 pm, so she can have dinner there and we won't have to interrupt our meal to take her, and risk one of us missing the Holiday Wishes fireworks because we're dropping her off at 8:30, the exact time the fireworks are scheduled to start that night! And I've heard that 'Ohana is a great place to watch the fireworks, so...YAY!

Do any of you know what time the Spectromagic floats go across the lagoon? I know we'd like to see that at least one night we're there.

It's NEVER too early to plan!!! :thumbsup2

I think you may be confused so I wanted to clarify...... "SpectroMagic" is a parade AT the Magic Kingdom. If you're talking about floats on the lagoon, I think you mean the "Electrical Water Pageant". I'm unsure of the times, but we've usually seen it in the 9:00 to 9:30pm time frame. HTHs! :)

Just wanted everyone to know how much my family enjoyed the Poly CL. I don't think I will ever book a regular room again. The food in the CL was very good. We only stayed for one night for the fourth, but I can tell that everyone is the nicest Cm's so far that I have encountered. Julien met and walked my family to the Hawaii building and we were taken care of by a nice young lady and also a nice young man with glasses and I can't think of their names, but they were exceptional also. We never paid for food or drink the entire trip so paying what we paid for our room was worth it for us. I now know why the Poly has so many people that are fans. We normally stay at CR and we are staying there in Sep. for my birthday so will compare them then. One of the CM called the CR the "toaster" which I thought was hilarious, but I like that hotel very well and am a very loyal fan to it. Thanks guys for sharing your experiences of the Poly with me and others. It really helps a lot of people out!!!

Thanks for posting your review.

Thanks for pointing me towards this thread, CR Resort Fan.

We've stayed at the Poly before, but it was only 3 nights. Not nearly long enough to take it all in. I don't think it matters where you stay you stay at the Poly . . . the entire resort is beautiful.

I think we are going to request a Magic Kingdom view this time around.

I'm really looking forward to starting to plan this vacation as soon as the 2009 bookings open up!

Great to hear :thumbsup2 We will be back at Polynesian CL later this summer :cloud9:

Thanks, RachelTori! I was indeed confused! And thanks for the link to the description, CR Resort Fan!

There's conflicting info on different calendar sites re. which fireworks shows are on when. The official Disney site says that on NYE, the Holiday Wishes fireworks show will be at 8:30 and the Fantasy In The Sky show will be at 11:50.

I hope that info is correct! Several other sites ONLY list the Fantasy in the Sky show, and I seriously doubt we will still be awake that late!

In our experience, the Electric Water Parade starts not long after "Wishes" (like within the next 15 minutes, I believe.) I am pretty sure that it starts in front of the Poly and moves clockwise around the lagoon after that. Last trip we sat on the beach at Poly and watched Wishes and then the Electric Water Parade.
Have a Disney Day, Renee

That sounds like heaven on earth, Naisy68!

Three buildings have garden view rooms with a direct view of the monorail. Rapa Nui has the shortest walk to the TTC (even closer than Tahiti) but the monorail is off in the distance a bit from this building. And the rooms that face the monorail also face a parking lot. There is some lovely landscaping but you can easily see the parking lot.

Raratonga is probably your best request. It's a couple minutes farther to the TTC but steps from the GCH and the quiet pool. The monorail is right in front. Again the rooms facing the monorail also face the parking lot but there is a large hill and absolutely tons of lovely landscaping so the views are really lovely.

Aortearoa also has rooms facing the monorail but is the farthest from the TTC...on the other side of the resort.

I think we are going to request a Magic Kingdom view this time around.

Just an FYI but MK views are a separate booking category not a request. Also can't you book a package now even though rates aren't out? That's what I used to do when we did Gold Key plan, etc.. I just wouldn't know the final total until rates were released. Has that changed?

I think you must have been there when Wishes was at 9pm. Normally, the Electrical Water Pageant begins at 9pm at the Polynesian. But if Wishes is at 9pm, it follows immediately after the fireworks ends. I love the Pageant.

I think it must have changed b/c now you can only book room-only (at the highest current year rate, right now it would be peak 2008 rate) until the packages are released, usually August.

Thanks for the clarification, Sandy.

Can you book room only and then convert the reservation to a package?

Thanks for the clarification, Sandy.

Can you book room only and then convert the reservation to a package?

Yes, as far as I understand you can. I've never done it (no need, not going at a super-busy time (or early in the year) or looking for a very specific room category). I've heard some people say they roll it right over and if what you've paid (one night) is more than the $200, you're fine, otherwise you need to pay the rest to get to $200. I've heard other people say they actually cancel your ressie, refund your deposit, and then rebook it as a package with $200 required.

Can you have 5 people (3 adults, 2 kids) in one room?? We have a room booked already, but my mother just decided that she wants to come with us. Can we add her on to our reservation?

Yes, at the Poly you can have 5 (even 5 +1 if it's a child under 3). There are 2 queen beds plus a day bed (plus, as my kids liked to use even though there were only 4 of us, a large chair with an ottoman).

I've looked at the resort map - trying to figure out what bldg the Neverland Club is in. I saw a post that said it is listed on the map - and I believe it 100%, but I'm not finding it. Is it in the main building (Great Ceremonial House)?

Thanks for any assistance.

It's in the building that also houses Tangaroa Terrace and the laundry room. The entrance is close to the East end of Raratonga and South end of Tokelau.

Thanks again, sandym718.
