Hi mousescrapper! Glad you had a nice trip. We are staying at the Poly for the first time in Sept. and I have read most of this thread, but I missed the souvenir cups somehow. Can you tell me about them? My daughter would love one!

Thanks!

It was called Pirate Punch, it was a raspberry lemonade blend drink. It cost $6.49 each with your choice of Captian Hook or Tinkerbell light clip (they have a turn off button too). The cups are not a durable plastic, but still reusable. The straws were color-changing too. I brought everything home. The clips are on these overhead bed lights over my DH's and my bed now.

Great review & awesome pics, mousescrapper! What a cute family you have!

Quick question for you - you mentioned you had a crib for your youngest DD - was it one of the Polynesian ones? Just curious as we're planning on renting one from A Baby's Best Friend, and I'm interested in your experience.

Thanks!

It was a metal crib from the Poly, it had a decent little mattress slightly thicker then our own pack-n-play version at home. One afternoon after napping in a swim diaper she peed out, so I called Mousekeeping and they came right away with a fresh sheet and took the wet one for me. The sheet was cute with MM, DD, and Pluto on it.

Here are 2 pictures of her in it, this was right before we left and I realized I never took a picture of her in it and I have TR friend who was interested too. So their probably not the best.

I thought the crib was very decent and she slept fine it every night and took 2 naps as well. She is a climber and tries to get our of her own crib at home, but I felt completely safe w/ her in it.

My family; DH:earsboy: , DS15pirate: , DD10princess: and I ::MinnieMo will be starting our Magical WDW/Poly vacation in 5 days! We're going for the 4th of July and to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversay:woohoo: . Once I get back I'll be glad to post all the ins and outs concerning the Poly and the July 4th week.

I also wanted to say thank you for all the GREAT Poly information. We are huge WDW fans and I am so looking forward to staying at this resort. (We took a Disney cruise several years ago and spent one night at this beautiful resort before our trip. We all fell in love:lovestruc with the resort and knew we had to go back.) Let me know if there is any specific info I can get for someone or pictures that you'l like me to take.

I will be making our 2nd trip to the Poly on July 2nd for the 4th of July weekend. I really can't wait--only 6 more days.

If there is anything anybody wants me to check out or pictures of, let me know...I will be more than glad to considering the things I learned from this boards.

Thanks again...Aloha

Cmac, Maybe I'll see you there! I'm just about silly with anticipation.

We're staying in a MK view room. Didn't request a specific longhouse...that's all left up to the MAGIC :goodvibes . Hence the reason I've named this our Magical WDW/Poly Vacation. The way I see it, any room is the perfect room...I'm at the Happiest Place on Earth with my wonderful family!

Aloha and may you have safe travel.

i feel so confused about the monorail system can anyone tell me how this works

Okay, let me try. There is a resort monorail that stops at the Contemporary, Ticket Place (can't think of the name right now), Polynesian, Grand Floridian and the Magic Kingdom. There is an express monorail from the ticket place to the MK and back. There is a third monorail from the ticket place to Epcot and back.

What else do you need to know?

That is correct and the name of the place you are thinking of is the Transportation & Ticket Center.

Thank you so much! I showed these to DH, and we're going to go with this instead of renting. Now I just need to call to request the crib and then cancel the crib rental! hehe

I really appreciate your details & pics!

Honeychild

We have a Garden view. We really can't wait either and planning on packing Sunday, at least for the kids. We will be the ones at the beach with 2 little boys (5 and 3) and my bald-headed dh...LOL

Aloha...and have a great time.

Can anyone tell me if they make an alcoholic Dole Whip drink anywhere at the Polynesian? Thanks! I'm thinking a little rum in it would be mighty tasty!

We made our first visit to Poly last week - WOW! Within hours we had decided we would never stay anywhere else! This thread provided a wealth of information, but I still wasn't prepared for how quiet and relaxing the resort is - such a great respite from the frenzy of MK. We had 2 GV rooms, our only request being that one of them had to be handicapped accessible with a roll-in shower. We didn't ask that the two rooms be together or even in the same longhouse (DD19 and her friend, also 19, were in the second room - DH, me, DS17 and DS14 were in the handicapped room). We arrived at noon on a Saturday and we had already told the kids the rooms wouldn't be ready yet - wrong! We walked right up to check in and both rooms were ready. We were in 1119 and 1120 in Rapa Nuie; they were even connected! After some of the posts here, I was expecting that building to be a real hike from the action at the Poly. Wrong again. The resort is not nearly as spread out as I thought and our Rapa Nuie is a pleasant, beautiful walk to GCH, volcano pool etc. And after parking literally outside the door of the building (Rapa Nuie is right next to a small lot) and finding the TTC was steps from our room. Good grief, we timed it. From inside our room to the MK took SIX minutes!! And that's with DS14's power wheelchair. The proximity to TTC and the direct monorail to MK and Epcot made Rapa Nuie unbeatable, convenience-wise. We also liked the fact that it was SO quiet at that building. We rarely heard anything and DH and I spent our mornings on the patio with the paper and coffee watching the birds and looking at the beautiful flowers and not a soul in sight. The rooms were large, comfortable and ours even had a button DS14 could push to open the door himself. We were a building away from the quiet pool, which was our favorite - never crowded, plenty of chairs etc.

We usually ate breakfast at Captain Cook's, which seemed to suit all of us. We did one TS at Kona's for breakfast - the food was great, but our server was not. I won't go into all the details, but she was in a hurry to get us out of there and it was not a relaxing meal. I think we'll skip that next time. We did Ohana's one night and really enjoyed that. We had a table by the window which was great.

Really, the only downside of the whole week was that the famed Dole Whip machine was broken until Wednesday! I had been all worked up about trying one and I didn't think I'd ever get to. I finally did and it was worth the wait!

Thanks to everyone for all the great info. I'd be glad to answer any questions if I can to return the favor.

We were able to get the cups on our disney cruise last week too.
My DS (almost 2) loved the captain hook cup. Good to know we can get them at POLY too.

I'm glad you and your family had a wonderful time! Thanks for posting the details. I have not requested a room location and from what I hear there really is not a bad room. Only 44 more days until our first stay at the Poly and we can't wait.

I know this has been touched on but couldn't find it in this HUGE thread! Does anyone have the dimensions (or estimate) of Width, height and depth of the in room fridges? Also if anyone has a pic that would be great!

Also, I'm assuming there are ice buckets in the rooms?

Thanks as usual!

Once you have checked in do you get to find your room yourself or do they have a CM escort you? I want to sneak ahead of my DH and DS-3 and DS-11 so I can place a present in the room from MICKEY. I need to figure out how I can do this:confused3

Unless you're staying Club Level, you do not get escorted to your room.
