Actually the route for the launches is MK>GF>Polynesian.

There are three monorail options at the TTC. The resort monorail route that shyjade listed, a nonstop to Epcot and the express monorail to MK.

The large ferry also can be caught at the TTC. Although quite busy on the way to MK in the am, it is a wonderfully quick and peaceful ride back to the TTC midday. The dock is very close to Rapa Nui and Tahiti.

Does anyone know if Disney does anything special for the 4th at any resorts. I guess no one has been there during this time. CR fan, I know you are a CR expert, but do you know if the Poly does anything special or CR or GF? Your input would be greatly appreciated.

I've been there right after the 4th and I do know that in past years they've scheduled extra activities for the guests, at the pool and inside the Great Ceremonial House, as well. One of these activities was the tiki mask painting. I have some pictures of it on my web site. Here's a link to the page, scroll down until you see the pictures of the wooden masks being painted: http://www.brownfamilyvacations.com/html/polynesianjul2007.htm They also schedule extra "free" activities during the busier times, too.

Also, I know that on the 4th of July they will not allow any non-Polynesian resort guests to go to the beach to view the fireworks. From what I've read and heard, those are some of the best/most popular fireworks of the year, and they want to restrict it to make sure there is enough room for the guests of the resort.

So even if there were non Polynesian guests who had ADR's at Ohana or Kona Cafe on July 4th, they will still not be allowed on the beach even though they are already at the Polynesian?

we were there last year on the 4th and it was busy. They were checking resort IDs just to get on the monorail as the MK was closed.
They had tons of activites to do at the GF.

SeaSpray,

Can you tell me (or point me to the correct post #) a bit more about the transportation? There is a monorail you can catch at the Poly and one you can catch at the TTC. What are the stops and in what order? The same for the boat. I know it goes to the GF, but are there any other stops and what is the order of the route? And the different buses have me confused as well. :confused3

Thanks. This wonderful thread has become so popular that I cannot find the info if it is already here. I did read post #12 regarding the transportation, but would appreciate your further help.

Thanks again!

Cyndi

Sorry that I didn't see this sooner, but I see that your question has been answered already :)

As has already been posted, the resort launch (boat) makes a continuous "triangle": Polynesian > Magic Kingdom > Grand Floridian > Polynesian > Magic Kingdom > Grand Floridian > etc :boat:

I love taking the walking path from the Polynesian to the TTC, and that's where you get the direct monorail to Epcot. Then at Epcot, that monorail comes directly back to the TTC. :sunny:

It's my understanding that no non-Polynesian resort guests will be allowed to STOP and STAY on the beach to watch the fireworks. I don't imagine that they would not be allowed inside the Great Ceremonial House to dine at the restaurants. But yeah, even if they've had dinner there, in the past, people who are not staying at the Polynesian have not been allowed to stay on the beach to watch the fireworks, on the night of July 4th. YMMV.

Thanks for that information. It also makes me wonder if it's like that at the Contemporary during Juy 4th when it comes to the 4th floor observation deck, if they only allow guests staying there to watch the fireworks from that location?

Thanks for posting this, SeaSpray. I was planning on taking my DD to the Poly for the 4th of July next year and was wondering about this.

Thanks Seaspray! That's why I reserved a Lagoon CL room. I thought for sure people would congregate outside on the beach because after all the Poly is centralized for the fireworks. It's the best to watch the show. Now that I know that only resort guests will be there, it makes me feel better that we won't be fighting people that don't belong there that night. I thought that the resorts would have to do something special on the 4th so am anxious to see what they offer.

Just saw this yesterday and thought I would pass along. :-)

If you have kids who love Build A Bear and Hello Kitty, they now have a Tropical Hello Kitty that just screams 'Disney's Polynesian Resort'

The best part? Build A Bear also sells licensed Disney outfits for your stuffie from Disney Princesses to High School Musical 2.

Just another idea to keep the Poly magic going at home and a nice idea to bring on vacation. DD8 is going to stuff my, I mean, her Tropical Hello Kitty this weekend. :thumbsup2

Great idea, MsSB.:thumbsup2

Have fun with your DD's kitty this weekend!:goodvibes

No reason to post but just getting excited that we are at our 5 week countdown!!

Almost there, mr. mike! Enjoy the anticipation.

I wonder if Tess is still there? Hope they're having a perfect celebration trip!:cool1:

The anticipation is awesome isn't it? There comes a time in your countdown when you suddenly realize how close you are and then you just get giddy! I'm about at that stage myself. I cannot wait to walk into that lobby... :cloud9:

 I know that giddy feeling so very well!
popcorn:: I know that this is off the topic. But I'm wondering if anyone knows if they still have those smoked turkey legs at MK and I think HS.
I always found them to be a great afternoon snack. And when i clsoe my eyes and imagine walking through frontierland, I can still smell them. YUMMY!

I remember my countdown -- soooo sweet!!:cloud9:

Have a fabulous time, and fill us in when you return. That is unless you are going to do a LIVE trip report, LOL.:hyper:

Yes they do. I know, because I find them absolutely repulsive and I'm grossed out everytime I smell one or see somebody knawing on one. Sorry, no offense meant by that, I'm sure they taste good if you like smoked meat (which I don't)... :rolleyes1

I have a question for all you polynesian experts out there....After much thought and consideration we have decided on staying at the poly...Yeah...:cool1: . So with reading about the different long houses some speak of this "hike" that you have to do to get from certain long houses to the main house or the TTC. What exactly is considered a hike? How long of a walk is this?
