Thanks for the pics BluOrchid2. It was nice to be able to actually "see" what happened at WL, rather than to just try and visualize it. I'm glad to see that things don't look "too bad" there.

I'm glad you and your family made it through the storm safe and sound!

Someone correct me if I am wrong but...

Our good friend FloridaCat who recently passed used to tell everyone to "Rub the bear's nose to let the magic begin!" so we all got into the habit of it.

Sounds nuts eh? Well, we kinda are around these parts. :)

It also came about because of the view of WL from the water where you can almost see what appears to be a bear's eyes and nose. There are views of this type in my photo gallery. Click the link in my signature to see them and much more.

BluOrchid2,

Thanks for sharing your photo's. Disney buildings sure seem to be built to stand hurrican's!

Was there any food available during the storm? Someone reported that the Brdwk Inn provided "box" dinners to the guests. (We're going in Sept, which is still huricane season. I just want to know what to expect.) When was the pool open to guests the next day? The parks opened around 9. Were the boats running then? When did the buses and monorails start running?

Thanks,

Roaring Fork and WCC both closed up in the late afternoon/early evening. The gift shop was also closed up. No food available for a few hours there, but then from 11:30 pm- 1:00 am, they had some sort of all you can eat buffet set up at WCC. Charge was $10 per person, and they asked you to take all your food back to your rooms.

We left about 9:00 the next morning, so I don't know about the pool or monorails. At about 8:30, a boat captain told us they were about 15 minutes from running the boats.

FRED - I don't have a zipper program, know of one I can get for free online?

You can use WinZip. They have a free trial too so that should work for you.

http://www.winzip.com

I believe that windows XP also has a built in ZIP utility. I think you can select multiple files and right click then click compress or zip or something like that. :)

Thanks,

Fred

Thanks for sharing the photos BluOrchid2! Glad you made it through unscathed. :sunny: Did you have electricity the entire time? I guess they have their own generators? My sister lives in the Orlando suburbs & they just got power back yesterday late afternoon/early evening. Just wondering. Looks like you had a good time despite the weather. Did you enjoy your road trip? We always drive from PA & we actually really enjoy it (more so on the way down). That 1st sight of palm trees - :hyper: - you know you're almost there! Thanks again!!!

I tried to read this entire thread. Honest!!:)

My question is about balcony rooms.

Do all the rooms have balconies?

Where do I request to make sure we can get a room with a balcony ??

Thanks in advance!!!

BlueOrchid- thanks for the photo's. It looks so bad, but I'm sure they have it cleaned up already! When I saw the pool area at dawn, and then the picture you took at 8 am, well, I can see how fast they work! Unbelievable that you just happened to be there for this. My heart goes out to all the people that lost so much in this storm. Times like this I wish I was a billionaire so that I could help people. (and where are all the billionaires???) Anyway, thanks for coming on and posting for us, and glad you are safe and sound! :wave2:

I was thinking the same thing Tig-girl - about being a billionaire!::yes:: It just breaks your heart to see these poor people. The news here showed one 80-something woman from Punta Gorda who had lost evrything she owned. She was a widow & had just buried both her brothers who were her last living relatives. Don't you just wish that you could reach out & just care for these people.

Sorry to go off subject for this thread!

Humphry, the bear, is right outside the gift shop.

All rooms have balconies. Except for the 2nd floor. Since they are ground level, they have patio's.

Ronald Duck

I am still new to this thread! I love to read you all's posts and view all pics. We are going to stay WL at the end of Sept. We luckly got some empolyee discount. We are going with group of 15 and 6 rooms researved w/one Jr.Suite. We are under magical gathering and have its number. I have read that many people requests for prefered view and so forth via fax. Can we request possible upgrades via fax as well????? Hoping to have Consierge (=sp?) level if possible..... (trying not to be greedy, though....) Or is this fax request only for view preference, bank bed, and so forth????
Please kindly advise. //Coko

p.s. by the way, English is my 2nd language and I am not good at spelling well. Do we have spell check feature on this post site?
Could not find one..... Sorry for my not so good English writing....

All these great photos are getting me so excited, I really haven't been motivated but this has made me get the suitcases out and start packing Thanks for sharing all this great info and photos it looks like a beautiful place I'll let you know what I think when I get back I will do a full report.

Hi Coko!

I read somewhere that WL isn't accepting faxes anymore. Someone correct me please if I'm wrong (it won't be the first time!) I'm also new to WL and have tried to read everything & I may have gotten confused :confused3 Don't you worry about your spelling!!!!! I bet many of us couldn't spell (or speak) in your first language. I've found Dis-ers mainly to be kind, welcoming folk! Don't forget to post a trip report when you get back!

Shelby2001... I'm doing the single digit dance for you (I'm always excited when thinking of a trip to Disney) :cheer2: :cheer2: :thewave: :rockband: Sending lots of pixie dust for a Great trip!
