The New (Part 4) WL FAQ Thread...Just the Facts M'am!

WOOHOOO!!!!! Just got back from the WL and I will say that it was the BEST vacation ever! We visited a few of the other resorts and this was the best by far! It was SO homey and quiet and enjoyable...I'll write more later when I'm not so tired ;-)

Thanks for the info on those enclosed patios! Surprising that they are on the concierge floor. I guess it's just another good reason for me to rationalize that we don't NEED that special treatment and all that convenience food! :teeth:

I fear that I have become addicted to this thread...

2 questions

1)How "spread out" is WL compared to, say, POR and CSR?

2) I'm driving from MCO, so should I drive up to the front of WL, unload the car, then park it myself, or should I just park first, then bring suitcases in? I'd rather not use the valet parking, but wasn't sure if pulling up to the front is an invitation for them to park it for me!

1)How "spread out" is WL compared to, say, POR and CSR?

All the rooms are in ONE building at WL--buildings of rooms are not scattered all over some mass expanse of land, like POR, CSR.

I believe that there is ONE bus stop, so that may give an indication to you how compact WL really is.

I'm sure someone else will come by with a clearer explanation. . .

Hope this helps!

WL is very compact and the parking lots are pretty close to the front entrance of the building. I think it only has a little over 700 rooms whereas most of the other resorts have in the 1000's-3000's of rooms, so it's a considerable amount smaller than most. I found that you could walk around the whole resort with no problem whatsoever.

I always drive as I live in Florida, the first years, I valet parked because they did not charge, but now it is $6 a day...NO WAY!!! I never see my car the whole time I am there!! So I pull up, the bellhop unloads everything, then I park myself. Trust me...you will see your car very little unless you plan on leaving property.
ENjoy!

I read on "Passporter" (Resort comparisons table, pg 27) that Turndown service is available upon request.
What does that mean?

1) Is turndown available also for non-concierge guests? (we have a woods-view room)

2) Is there an additional charge if we require turndown?

3) Would you suggest to extra-tip our mousekeeper?

Thank you so much
Laura

Thanks again for answering my questions! I don't know how I missed that it's small enough for 1 bus stop. CSR (and I like CSR) has 5, I think. Thanks!

Is there music playing in the lobby all the time? Does anyone know if the music is the same as the music set to the screensaver someone just made and posted a few days ago?

Also, I was wondering about something DisneyDmbNut said in a reply. It was about pulling up to the WL entrance and unloading their bags, but parking themselves. I never knew you could do that. I always assumed once you pulled up front, it was valet parking all the way.

We always park our own car after we unload! We have never used WLs Valet...because we are always on the run!

The screensaver was made by my DH ::yes::
He took two music clips from the "official Disney site".

One of them is the one which accompanies the Wilderness Lodge Resort description, so I assume it is one of the musics played in the lobby of the hotel.

Thanks MICKEY'S DREAMERS! I got that screensaver from you and we love that music! Thank your hubby for me.

Thanks AspiringCindy for letting me in on the fact that non-valet parkers can still drop off luggage at the front. We always valet parked or went to the lot and wheeled our luggage up. Can't believe I never knew that!

Mickey Dreamer-can you send me the screensaver.
I asked for it once before, but I think I delted the e-mail from you on accident.

Thanks!

ktnkymom@yahoo.com

The reason because you didn't get the screensaver is that YAHOO and HOTMAIL email addresses don't allow the sending of big files. So it bounced back :(

If you have another email address (you can PM me) I will be more than happy to send you the screensaver

I haven't found the screensaver music yet. If the music has not changed in 10 yrs., the music doesn't stop (at least until 1AM+ 10 yrs ago) and some of the music included was from "Last of the Mohicans" "Dances with Wolves" "The Treasure of Siera Modre" and such. (SP?) Hope this helps.

Did you add the music to your S Saver??

DH just made a new version of the screensaver with DisneyDmbNut music :bounce:
it's 5+ minutes of WL lobby music :Pinkbounc
and he also added the picture of my "avatar" and of "my signature :)

If anybody is interested in this LARGE version just PM me! :)

Note that it's more than double than the original version ... so ask for this ONLY if you have high speed internet access (and NOT Yahoo or Hotmail emails)

Laura:thewave:

p.s. DisneyDmbNut I am PMing you

Good Evening All!
I wonder if anyone remembers or knows where I can find, the Christmas decoration schedule for The Lodge? I remember seeing it last year, and I don't know if it changes from year to year or not. Anyone have any idea?

HellOOOO WLers and Vets!

My good friend will most likely be joining us in WDW for about 4 of the 10 nights that we are there--*I'll be able to go to the parks with her while DH is playing the PSP Paintball World Cup at the WWOS for those 4 days*. I was thinking that she could stay with us for these nights. I know that it is $25 extra a night for any extra adult over 2 in number. She would be at the WL in the middle of our trip.
How do I call CRO and explain this to them? I don't want to pay $25 every night when she'll only be staying for 4. Please give me some advice. . .
