Hi there,

What type of room do you have?

Are you still trying to get an AP discount for those 2 nights?

Right before the last code ended, they opened up a bunch or rooms, including concierge, with the BBY code but it's gone now.

Is it still possible to add dates with the code you used to book the other nights?

We have Woods View...Trying for Florida Resident Rate, codes are good to last day of promotion 7/4/2004. I am hoping someone will cancel :D

Have been lurking over on How many of ya'll been "bitten" by the Concierge "bug"! thread, may request upsell to Concierge Level, but it will depend on how many will be coming with me on this trip, so far just myself and niece. My sister broke her foot two weeks ago...so she doesn't think she'll be able to come.

Ahhhh the home of us lounge lizards as BambiTambi so often calls us. :) Love the thread.

Uhh.....a few more posts and I hit the 1k mark. Now that is a milestone for me.

Wilderness Lodge, Our 1st trip to WL

I was so sad to leave, I dreaded it, I woke up knowing I had to leave and go home-- I hate goodbye's. Its everything you all have described and so much more. We arrived on Sat May 1st about 10:00am and checked in, I asked how much it would be to upgrade to CL and she made a phone call and told me $70 more a night and since i was staying 7 nights and that was almost another $500 I decided that was just to much to pay ---for $50 a night maybe but not $70. So then I asked could I possibly have an upgrade to courtyard view, and to my amazement she said sure , there's one available right now  WOO HOO HOO, Well my goodness Check-in wasn't until 3:00pm and I was getting in this early, I let the CM (who was actually being trained my the manager at the time) know how thankful I was and went up to see my beautiful room, Number 4053 overlooking the creek and to my far left the Swimming pool and lake. Perfect for us, I never heard the noise from the pool or any noise fopr that matter, It was forcast to rain all week but only rain once at night May 1 and cleared up to a gorgeous Sunday May 2nd also all week cnn had forcast thunderstorms and Mon May 3 it rained on and off a little and the rest of the week was perfect, not to hot, just right. The 1st two days we were there we just soaked in the resort and Downtown Disney and other resorts, Transportation was fine, Boats , buses and monorail, The buses at WL actually had a gentleman out at the bus stop timing the buses, so if they had a problem in the past it look's like they are trying to rectify it.

Peylog,

I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay at WL. Congratulations on the upgrade, did you remember to request Flag-family?

I am SOOO excited :hyper: ! Dh said today that we could book WL standard room for our trip this late October!. It made me even MORE ecstatic when he said we could book it THIS WEEK!

Neither of us has EVER stayed on-site, and the first time we visited WL in 1998 we FELL IN LOVE WITH IT  :lovestruc . We wanted to stay there for our honeymoon in Dec. 2002, but that was before I learned about discount codes and AP rates--so we stayed at the Wyndham in DTD. Thanks :grouphug: to all of you here on the DIS for the priceless info that you so willingly share with DISney lovers like me :earsgirl:

We are interested in staying in a lobby room. I read on the first page of this thread that these rooms do not have balconies: Do they at least have sliding doors? Either way, we will request a lobby room. Are those rooms noisy? Do any of you have any recommendations as to what "side" to request (North, east, west, south--if that's possible). Do ANY standard rooms have king beds?

I'm sure I'll have more questions, but these are just a few off the top of my head. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for any help you can give me as I plan OUR FIRST ON-SITE TRIP!

aesalsa,

Hi, I believe you may have read that wrong all the lobby rooms have balconies just some have different views. All the rooms at WL have balconies or patios

"STANDARD ROOMS: All Non-Smoking rooms with 2 Queen Beds.
Located on Floors 4,5 & 6. On the North(MK) side, they face the service area. There are also 4th floor rooms that overlokk the lobby and look out to roof peaks.
Lobby rooms do have balconies."

So don't worry you'll be fine with a Lobby room.

Have fun with your upcoming trip ask any questions you might have.

Thank You for your quick reply and for clearing up the balcony thing-- I DID read it wrong  . For helping me out, here's a little something from me to you :flower3: . I'm very glad that it was just my eyes acting up :magnify: .

I'll be back soon! Good Night!

We planned on going to MK on Monday but when we woke up it was raining (Lightly) and I decided who wants to see the MK in the rain when we could just go to MGM, (It had more inside stuff to do and a shorter day, since it might rain all day) well here and there it rained but we were prepared with rain pancho's. I was very suprised how crowded it seemed even in rain this time of year, It was not an early entry day either. But easily managable, and rode all my favorites and had a nice day, Tues, MK day Gorgeous, perfect weather day, light wind blowing, saw Wishes 1st time, it was new since last May, and Mickeys Philharmagic, great shows really cool weather that night while watching wishes. After a long day we waited quite a while in the cool weather for a boat back to WL, but no big deal. Wed off park day relaxed went swimming at WL pool, life guards watched people closely, I was happy for that-- pool was crowded but nice, water nice and warm. Thur ( another beautiful day) went to Epcot all day and night and watched Illuminations, nice- great viewing spot past the crown and rose pub. Fri was going to be another MK day but we decided to just chill and went to boardwalk and Downtown Disney again. During our stay the kids stayed at Poly- Neverland Club for about 3-4 hours they loved it so much they didn't want to leave, also at Clubs Den for about 3 hours again loved loved it. WCC was excellent, loud as usual. RForks, good pretty fast service. We also rented Sea Rays while there, the new water mice they were fun, not to fast. You have to be 16 with a valid License to rent on your own, but can be 12 with an adult in the boat with you as long as you meet height requirements. I know someone asked that question before. They said there was a pretty bad accident recently, so they chaged their requirements. Fort Wilderness was nice and large, the petting zoo was neat and my kids loved the pony rides. Well I think thats about all, the trip was great, I can't wait till next year, 7 nights was a good amount of time there, but always sad to leave, but that just means its time to start planning another trip. so long for now! Peylog:p :wave2:

Yes, I did remember, sorry I forgot to mention that. I requested to be flag family and they said the person in front of me just got the last day of that week during my stay. I was bummed but more for me to look forward to next time. and I still got that free upgrade. Peylog :hyper:

Wow! Your trip is making me SOOO excited to get there! I paid for a Woodsview room, so here's a question: If I ask for a room that is overlooking Magic Kingdom is that considered woodsview? And how would I ask for that? Just ask for "castle view"?

Anyone have any advice on what I should ask for? The above or maybe just an upgrade? I have no idea, but I better decide quick!!!! A little over 24 hours left now...YIKES!

Oh, and I also noticed that you said there was cool weather. Rain is also predicted for quite a few of the days we are there. We are getting ponchos tomorrow....should I carry a light sweater for each of us too? Thanks!

the more i have read about others experiences with the concierge service offered at WL, the more i like the idea. when i was doing my initial research the price for the upgrade was just a bit too much for our 10 day stay. but after reading how guests have asked for an upgrade and recieved it at check-in my interest is growing. my family enjoys sit down dinners but for other meals we are a snackin appetizer bunch. DW and DS#2 arent big eaters but myself and DS#1 are. a little bit of everything i enjoy very much.

what i would like to know is 2 things:

1)should i wait until check-in to ask for an upgrade or call a week or 2 before we leave

2) if you were succesful in obtaining an upgrade how much did it cost for the upgrade to concierge and how much did you pay for you room. i would like to know this if you dont mind telling me because it seems the lower price that you pay for the room the higher the concierge upgrade costs. it seems that the total comes to around 200 dollars a night room price and concierge upgrade together

thanks
tom

Paylog...Did you see me on the roof Monday AM..I was flag family on May 3rd... I was so excited that even the misty rain didn't upset me!!! Your room overlooked mine!! I was on the bottom floor, right outside the lobby where the creek passes...I bet we saw each other!!! My DD was at the duck races on Saturday afternoon about 3pm! LOL

I would wait..there is no way to be sure you will get it, but i was offered it for $50. more a night..i have heard some offered at $40.
I had booked a standard room, but was upgraded to Courtyard

:wave2: :wave2:

Hallo, everyone :

MY question of the day is :

We are booked in woods view room - we didn't ask for something "specific" (otter pond / which floor ? etc.) while doing our reservation.

This is our first stay ... and ( though I've been reading many posts on this matter)I can't make up my mind :

do we have to ask for a specific view ? or floor ?
or maybe we'll get a FREE (?) upgrade to ... ? courtyard or ...?at check in ?
or it's better"to go with the flow" , being happy of whatever location we get ? :confused3

I understand ALL the resort is simply GORGEOUS ... should I ask for something more ?

Thanks!

If I wanted something more then I would book it my self. While an upgrade is always nice you really cant expect it. we have gone to the WL twice and never gotten an upgrade but didnt expect one and therefore we did not endup with bad attitudes from not getting one.

Most of your questions can be answered on this thread somewhere.

SO I say all that to say this: "If you want it ask for it all they can say is YES or that it will cost more or no!"

I would definitely bring pancho's. I would bring light sweaters or wear one around your waist or in a back pack , only one night was cool, but on the boat ride home from the MK I froze, the rest of the week I was smart and brought light sweaters and wouldn't you know it it was warm. In the morning its a little cool as well. But heats up fast. Peylog Have a great trip!

Don't worry ahead of time about the weather either, mine was suppose to be bad all week and it was fantastic.

Your were almost straight across from me, on the bottom, I saw a man out there quite a bit sitting somtimes with a child, that wasn't your husband was it? We almost did the duck races on Sat, We were at the Cub's Den, doing the daily activites with the kids, and a lady in there said at three the duck races were going on, so we went outside and it was so crowded we couldn't find which pool the kids or big one so we just watched the geiser and went and explored the Villas. Cool though, We probably walked past each other and didn't even know it, Saturday I was wearing black, so if you saw a fool walking around with black long sleeve shirt and black pants and blonde hair it was me. We went swimming that night till a big cloud came over the pool and they blew the whistles to get out. Im glad you had a great trip. I didn't make flag family, but got a free upgrade. Peylog

I have been upgraded each time..not always to courtyard, but sometimes to woodsview. Here are my handy tips:

1. Be VERY pleasant!!! CM have hard days like we all do and a whiny, demanding guest will not make them any happier.

2. I like to whisper "Is it possible to get a _____ view?" It makes it like a covert operation and they seem to enjoy that too. Plus, everyone in line behind you won't hear and that might give you a better chance

3. Call CRO (877-939-3732) and ask them to request an upgrade if possible...I asked in February for a looby room facing the main pool and got it!! At standard rate!! This notation on your reservation might help the room assigner automatically bump you.

Good luck and enjoy the Lodge!!

( Peylog..did you see my post??)
