I've heard some people mentioning that the room size doesn't leave enough room for storing extra clothes souvenirs, etc. Would a junior suite be a better fit? From everything we've heard about WL, this is the resort we really want to be at. Room size is our only concern. Can you get a junior suite in the lobby area of the resort? Thanks!!:wave2:

I would agree with the above posters on the space assessment. I don't know if you are traveling with kids or what their ages are but the WL has rooms with bunkbeds. This is great fun for the kids but it also gives you a little more space than the two queen bed rooms.

Hi there WL experts !!!

We are booked at WL (Courtyard view w/requests of : bunk beds, upper floor, north wing)
I think that the next time I call to apply a payment, I am going to change the request to read:bunk room, inner courtyard---and not request the north wing.
My theory is that as long as I have inner courtyard and bunks I should be happy:teeth:
What do you think? Should I add in the upper floor request as well?

Also---it looks like we may have funds in the budget to possibly add Concierge.
BUT--we are already on the Silver plan. So, I am trying to decide if we would fully get our moneys worth from the food offerings, when we will be eating two full sit down meals a day. And, I prefer to make all of my own PS's
(Yes, call me a control freak ::yes:: ) .

Suggestions?

I think you answered your own question regarding concierge. You are looking at about $55 per night additional for those services and it appears you don't need them from your statement. Skip it is what I would say. (Of course, "I" could NEVER skip concierge but that's just me....)

As for the room locations, I don't see a problem with your request. You are going to get a great view on either north or south wing inner courtyard. I would personally go as high up as possible because the higher you go the quieter it will get. We were able to leave our patio doors open all night long and not hear a peep from the 7th floor (concierge).

Hope this helps. Good luck and have a great trip! That's all that matters. After a while, you have to forget about all the details and kinda let it all work itself out. Too much planning will make you nuts! The other disadvantage to over-planning is if for some reason you veer off of your schedule, you will make yourself dissapointed. Follow me?

We stick to a STRICT plan when doing Disney. One day ON and one day OFF. This means one day we will do a laid back plan for parks and the off days are days where we do nothing unless we "want" to or "need" to to make up for a rain day or something.

This doesn't let you see all of disney if oyur stay is not long enough. We have done this with trips as short as 5 days. (3 days in the park....2 days off.) This coming trip, we are doing 4 in the parks and 4 off. This type of plan is also good to let you wing part of your plans in case you need to.

Hope this helps. :)

Thanks Fred !!

Your feedback was great!

I understand what you mean about over planning. Its just that this is our first trip to WL, and I want everything to be as magical as possible, given that my DH let me choose our resort, and WL was my first choice.

We have already agreed that this will be a more laid back trip. Our visit in 2002 was commando style, and frankly, we were pooped !
Our main focus this time is our silver plan, and trying some new and different WDW restaurants for dining.
So what we can get in park wise, around that plan, will satisfy us.

My plan for the entire first afternoon and evening is going to be swimming and exploring WL ::yes::

You'll love WL...and you'll love the Silver Plan! DH hated the plan! He felt it took too much time from his commando style park hopping! I LOVED it though. We tried many restaurants that we probably wouldn't have without the plan!

Thanks to everyone who posted a reply to my question about room size at WL. We have been going back and forth on this issue. Everyone in the family desperately wants to stay at the Lodge over Christmas. We heard it was too cramped to put your belongings away. But knowing that the beds are high off the ground and there is sufficient space in drawers and closets, we can put this issue to bed and joyfully begin planning our activities at the Lodge.

I was wondering if the bunk beds would be a good idea. Our son will be 13 by the time we visit in December and he is about 5'7" right now. He may put on an inch by the trip. Would he have enough room in the bunk beds? Our daughter is 11 but her height is 4'10", so a bunk bed would be a good fit for her.

We have a courtyard view but would like a room overlooking the main lobby. We have asked for an inner courtyard view on the 4th or 5th floor, overlooking the lobby as our first choice. Our second choice is a lobby room on the north side above WCC. Does this seem to make sense as a request to stay in the main building?

Thanks!!!:wave2:

There is nothing like the Christmas holidays at the Lodge. The atmosphere is unsurpassed . You will not be unhappy no matter where you are. May it bring you as much joy and inner peace as it does to us.:D

Hrmm...if I am reading you correctly, I should say that there is no room that opens into the lobby view that also shares an inner courtyard view. All views of the main lobby have either a Villas or Magic Kingdom/Service Area woods view.

Unless I am missing something of course. :)

I should also warn you that some people feel it is too noisy to have a room that opens out to the lobby. If you want peace and quiet you may want to reconsider that one. ::yes::

Ask away! We'll answer more. :)

Hmm...already 5' 7"... I think he might feel a bit squished or claustrophobic. I'm 5' 6" and although I did not sleep in the bunk bed, I did climb in one with my DD one night to read and also just laid on the bottom bunk to see what it was like. I didn't think they were all that comfy as they are just a mattress on a bunk platform. Was great for 6 year old DD but might be tough for a discerning young man of 13.

I think they are pretty much twin size- maybe a tad smaller so you could just ask your son what his thoughts are.

Hi

Does anybody have any recommendations or opinions on views/rooms at VWL??? It will be our first time staying there. :)

Thanks!! :wave2:

It'll be my family's first time to WL - well 1st time to WDW, too! I don't want to miss out key features of the resort. Which areas do you WL vets frequent over there? Any suggestions for a great hiking trail?

We are also going in June which is a busy time of the year. Will the lobby be a madhouse or will we be able to enjoy it early in the morning?

I appreciate your thoughts & opinions! Thanks! :wave2:

Wow have I been busy today answering posts! Haven't done this many in a long time.

Try clicking the link in my signature that goes to the photo gallery. There is a folder that is just for balcony views with room #s. Should help give you an idea of what the real deal looks like. :)

Anyone have a balcony pic that isn't already in my gallery? Send it over to wdwwl@majesticnetworks.net.

Thanks!

Nice pictures! :) Do you happen to know if any of those balcony views are from VWL? It looked like they were all from the lodge... but I couldn't tell.

Thanks!!

TigrLvsPooh,

If I were staying at VWL again, I would request to have a pool view. We stayed in October and had a room on the first floor with a view of the walkway between VWL and WL. We did enjoy having a patio and being able to watch people come and go.

I missed the wonderful views that come with most of the rooms at WL.

I suspect any floor would be nice. I've read that the top floor has vaulted ceilings, which are nice.

Truth be told, we missed the WL when we stayed in the villas (and we own at VWL.) We're going back in May and everyone wanted to stay at WL this time (we also had some problems at VWL but it was stuff that could happen anywhere.)

High floor, pool or lake view seems to be the way to go at VWL.

We have a few VWL pictures on our photo page.

Be aware if you have a room over the pool it is noisy til 10pm or so -
Didn't bother us much but I am sure some people it would :)

Sorry, no. Silly me. I just re-read your post asking for pics of VWL! DUH! :)

Nobody has ever sent me pictures of VWL balconies. Anyone have some they want me to post? Send em over.

The lobby is sooo spacious...you will always find a nook n cranny that will give you a chance to relax and take in the sights, smells and sounds of WL!

I agree! I recommend that you wait till around 8pm if possible....head down and sit on one of the sofas and read a magazine that you can purchase in the mercantile there.

My wife and I did this last trip in January after our 3 year old fell asleep. We put her down on one of the couches and covered her up.

I went to the lounge and picked up a beer and a glass of wine for my DW. We both relaxed for about an hour or so. It was great and not very busy. A great time to really soak it all in.

Ahhh....even though we are staying at the Polynesian this trip in may we are still heading over to the Lodge one day for lunch at WCC and to visit with my friends on the 7th floor. :) I miss the lodge.

Thanks, guys ! The lobby really does draw you in like a moth to a flame, huh? I know the pictures just don't do it justice. I'm trying not to look at TOO many pictures so I can have a small element of surprise when I finally get there. HHHMMMM, evening drinks in the lobby with DH and sleepy head DS. I dig that ::yes::!

Gosh, I'm worse than my own kid because I simply can't wait to go!! I'll be the one that asks the pilot as I'm boarding "Are we there yet?" :teeth:

or if you are a morning person -

my FAVORITE part of vacatin was to sneak out at 6 am go fill up my mug with coffee (even added a package of Hot Chocolate to make it a mocha ;) and either just sit in the lobby and soak it all in or
even better
head out to the jacuzzi!
nothin like sittin there watching the sun rise over the lake and the 7am gyser in peace an quiet -
I was lucky I could see our room from there and when I saw the curtain moving I knew my ME time was up! :p
