Hmmm. Thanks for the info Fred. I don't want to take any chances with my sister and family in tow, since it's just me who wanted to go. Maybe we will just hop on over to 1900PF instead, since we all agree on that one!::yes::

Hey Fred, Cindy, Magic, Cat....GUESS WHO'S BOOKED AT THE LODGE AUGUST 11 - 14TH!!! :D :D :D

MOI!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Short stay, only 3 nights, but MAN! After not having been there for 8 months - last trip was in December, and we didn't even get to stay at WL - we were going through SERIOUS withdrawal. DT's, shakes, the whole deal. LOL

I can't bear to read about the WL or WDW when we don't have a trip planned, so I'll have to backread this thread to see what's been going on for the past 6 months. Any quickie updates would be appreciated, tho! :D

Good to see y'all again!
Lora

Welcome back! You were missed Lora! Glad to hear that you will be "going home". :)

Lots has been going on. I would start at page one of this thread and go from there. You should get plenty of info.

:)

Glad I could help, Fred!

I've been sworn to secrecy, folks, but Fred's project will be well worth the wait...

I want my countdown screen back! Only two more days, and I can't see it! Boo-hoo.

Aeselea-I hope you enjoyed your stay at the Ritz!

I'm wondering about pins. I've read about the woman who sells pins at WL, but am wondering if she sells any 'starter sets' for people who don't have any? I'm not gong to get into big time pin buying (I don't think) but would like for DS to have a chance to trade if he wants to.

Thanks for any info!

Hi Sarah,

The WL has a really great pin display. If I remember correctly, they do have the starter sets that include the lanyard and I think 4 pins. Two each of the same pin so you can start trading.

In fact, my DH and I are going to stop by there tonight to pick up a pin and I will definitely check for you.

There are also, many different pin stations around the "World". You are going to have fun.

All the CM's wear pin lanyards for trading. Some wear "green" lanyards that are "trading for children only". That makes it special for kids! (If my color is incorrect, someone please let me know.)

I am so happy that you are going soon, you will have the best time. Pixie dust coming your way. :D

Thanks, Dizneykid. I had read about the green lanyards, which I figured might be fun for DS. Thanks for checking for me!

You are correct. Green is for kids only. In most cases, for kids, the CM will just give the child choice without even trading.

Also, just so you know, CM's are "required" to trade whatever is on the lanyard they were. You pick what you want and give them whatever pin you want in return. CMs will wear pins that you also can't get elsewhere and in some cases you can't even purchase!

I recommend that you buy a bunch of "trader" pins which are pretty much just for you to trade with a CM. They can all be the same one too. Just carry them with you and walk up to CMs wearing a lanyard and ask if you can see the pins they have.

Sometimes you will see cast members wearing pins that are on backwards. These are called Mystery Pins. Most of the time you must answer a question correctly to get them. Sometimes they make you play a short game. "SOMETIMES" these pins are cast only pins which means they can be valuable. Of course, you won't know until it is revealed to you. They may also ask you to trade a pin for the "Mystery" pin. I usually do it too just to see what the pin is. Like I said, I carry about 10 to 12 traders with me that aren't on my lanyard so I can do this.

Have fun. Pin trading is a great way to meet people and enhance you experience at the world.

Fred

Wow, Fred, that is so cool.

You are such a wealth of information. I didn't know half the stuff you wrote. Thanks for sharing.

We have been wanting to do more trading. I like the "mystery" pin. I have to look for these. ::yes::

Hope this helps.

Its me again, I just used the web site, and messed around with the dates and it always said that Concierge is booked for your resort.

I am going through a travel agents, and I believe that she runs when she sees an email from me or hears a phone message from me. I had asked her to check for me, but she has not gotten back to me.

I finally decided to call the CRO and ask, well according to her they have "ONE" room left, for our dates. And to book it you can not apply a AAA/CAA discount to it!

So my question is will my CAA travel agent beable to book it for us, or not? How long should I wait to have her get back to me. I sent an email two days ago and I left a phone message this morning?

Thanks for all your help

Thank you! We got back about 2 hours ago. It was sooo relaxing and beautiful. We spent a lot of time bubble-bathing in the small pool they call a soaking tub :p. The lounge offerings we really great. One day/night was just enough time to relax a bit and refresh before tackling work/house issues. The last I looked on their site (whick was this past Wednesday) next Sunday through Wednesday, the Ritz, New Orleans is offering their standard deluxe room (350 sq. ft. with king bed) for only $129.00 a night, their executive suite (700 sq. ft.) for only $169.00 a night, and a club level room for only $189.00 a night! And the club level room has upgraded amenities and room features! Go HERE if anybody is interested!

Sorry for going off-topic :o . . .

Hi Sarah,

We did get a chance to get to WL last night. Got to the pin station. They had about 5 or 6 different lanyards (with no pins) price $10.00. They also had a bunch of pin trading starter kits. They had tinkerbell, the princess, lilo and stitch, and buzz lightyear. Their price was $25.00. Good luck. We saw alot of pin trading going on around the Magic Kingdom.

:D

All who are going to the WL soon. Pixie Dust coming your way. You are going to love the place. When we walked in there yesterday, just the smell alone (coming from Whispering Canyon) is enough to make us want to stay.

When you all walk through those doors into the lobby, just make sure you stop and take it all in. We have been there so many times, and I still get teary eyed and goose bumps.

Have a magical time. ::yes::

Thanks, dizneykid jeanne, for the inspiration! We're so excited to be going to WL and your comments just added to the anticipation! Back to my packing....... :wave2:

:jester: This site is so helpful and friendly...thanks for the information and the enthusiasm! It is half the fun of a trip to WDW to read and plan BUT...some, or MOST, of the folks on this end just don't get that. Even after steering them thru WDW using a basic plan of attack to avoid crowds, I still get "Let's just see how it goes when we get there." Ugh!

With that in mind, I am still anxious about the check-in--shcmoozing with CM to get an upgrade scene. I have done it well in the past at the Comtemporary but just feel that I won't know what to pick if they offer something. Right now we have a Woods view for a long weekend in September...it is #20 anniversary and going to be extra special but we thoght we'd see what they could throw our way! For long-time WL travelers (we've never been there even for a peek!), would you take a concierge over the honeymoon suite or that deluxe suite?? Have you ever given up a woods view for a courtyard view and lost the fireworks view from your room?

Also, has anyone joined the Sturdy Branchs Fitness Center just for the last day to have a place to shower etc. after checkout? I read it was a good idea for the last day if you just want to pool and Jacuzzi it.

Thanks from LA Tigger!!!:sunny:

<marquee>Welcome to the DIS, LATigger from a fellow Louisianian!</marquee>

I can't really answer any of your questions, but you've come to the best place to get them answered! Hope to see you around more!
