The NEW Official November 2010 Countdown & Planning Thread ~ Come join us! (Part 2)

We're back too. Left POFQ Friday at 7:45 a.m., spent a night on the road, and arrived home yesterday at 2:00. We had three days of rain (ended up buying Disney ponchos as the Dollar Tree ponchos just didn't do much). Then we had three days of cold and wind (ended up buying Disney sweatshirts as the jackets we brought didn't have hoods). Then we had four beautiful days where we wore ourselves out trying to do all the things we couldn't get done in the previous six days.

Bad weather is profitable for Disney. At least, they sure did make money off of us!

Didn't see any LGMHs the whole time until the last night when we were riding the boat back from DTD. In one of the Treehouse Villas, I saw a Mickey head in the one of the windows (couldn't tell the color), just assumed it had to be a LGMH. I know there was one family listed on the first page of this thread that was going to be staying there at that time, so maybe it was their Mickey head.

Lost my LGMH that was on my Baggelini on Wednesday at DHS. And I left my DIS Turkeys Mickey head in the window of our room. It was the only thing in the window and was held up by a small piece of tape -- I sure hope they don't charge me for not undecorating my window.

My husband told me to start planning our next trip! I've got 17 months to save up. :cool1:

I can't believe I am already talking next trip when this one hasn't even started, but our next one as a family is in 2 years, Thanksgiving 2012. But DD16 is graduating in 2012 so I am planning a mom and me trip, just for a long weekend to go to Gradnights so our next trip, just the 2 of us will be in 18 months, hopefully!

We're back!! :thumbsup2
Happy and sad at the same time..
what a glorious week we had.. no rain at all and beautiful weather the whole time:thumbsup2
The Poly is GLORIOUS! my dh loved it there so I know I can convince him to go back. We stayed in the Samoa longhouse facing the volcano pool and it was awesome!!!

Hope everyone going has a great trip and can't wait to hear all about the trips of everyone else.. I may start a trip report in a few days here once I get my act together.. lol

Welcome back to those who are sadly already done with their trips!
We have just 4 more days to go!!!
We actually have a short grown up only trip in January, my DH and I do a 4 day weekend trip every year in Jan instead of buying eachother xmas gifts and this year we return to BC. So when I get back I'll have a short countdown and then return.
We have also planned our trip for next year. We really don't want our DS12 to miss too much middle school, so we decided to go for xmas next year. We'll leave Xmas day and drive through arrive Monday and stay through New Years to the following Tues. I just hope it's not too hard to get my DVC reservation that week (I think we'll be OK at SSR)

Did you request Samoa? We have never stayed at Poly & are confused as to whether or not we should make a request. DH is still limping quite badly on his torn calf, so we need a great longhouse. Glad you had a great trip!!

Thanks to WeHEARTMickey for our Turkey Designs!!

You are so welcome  They turned out PRECIOUS!!! I may have to copy the feather idea. But, as unorganized as I am at this point, I'll be lucky to even get my turkeys printed out!:rotfl:

We are back also.. Kinda of sad but lots of things to do.. Great weather the whole time.. Loved the vwl. I swear mickey has it out for me, both in 2008 and this year too I have came down with the flu while at wdw.. Both me and my youngest were down for the count on wed. but felt better for the rest of the week. I think mickey does that so I will keep coming back to finish my plans lol

Oh no!!! :scared1: I'm so sorry you guys were sick. DD & DS had the flu mist 2 weeks ago. DH, DMiL, & I had flu shots on Thurs. Unfortunately, our trip will almost be over before our shots start working :sad2: And I have a HUGE bruise where mine was. I'm gonna be  if we get sick!

I had the girls get theirs in October, so they are good. I got mine a couple weeks ago so I am good as well, but DH was in the ER with a bad asthma attack so he couldn't go with me and he could never get out of work to get to one of the other clinics and he refused to pay the $40 copay the doctor makes us pay so he hasn't gotten one yet, I am worried but of all of us he is the toughest if he were to get it but it would stink if he did! I still want him to get one at Target, they are only $16 there but it won't help our trip. :(

We did. We requested samoa volcano pool side and we got it. It was so nice. Litterally 30 sec walk from our patio to capt. cooks.

We got sick the day before we left. (my older son had it earlier in the week) Myself and my 3 year old had the stomach bug. Throwing up all night long. I was a wreck on the plane ride down, and then my dh gets it the night we get down there. Thankfully it was only a 24 hour thing.

Stupid question....did you call in ahead of time? We arrive on Thursday. Am I too late??

DD was puking last night! We were scared to death that she'd caught a virus. I think (hope) it was the 5 pieces of pizza she ate at a party yesterday

Soooo, cute Marshay! Hope to see you there!

Thanks! Me, too! the most LGMHs (and people) I've seen in WDW is 5 and that was in September. So I'm really hoping to see a lot more since this week will have tons more folks!

I like this idea...may have to start doing that. I really don't need more "stuff" but a weekend trip away to Disney (or other place) sounds like a perfect present.:thumbsup2

Thanks! I wanted to do a lot more but as you all know, time just gets away!! I think I truly need one more weekend to prepare ... but since we leave Friday, that's not gonna happen!:lmao:

Best wishes to you and everyone NOT to get sick!

We got the flu shots in early October and knock-on-wood, so far we haven't gotten the flu. Plus this year we are driving instead of flying, so hopefully that'll help.

Remember your hand sanitizers!!

We have arrived at the boardwalk and had a great first day..the weather was amazing today:)

WeHeartmickey, we requested it when we booked the trip. It wouldn't hurt to request it now. They do room assignments a few days before you check in anyway.

Good luck. And I hope everyone stays healthy.

Someone said online check-in was down until Tuesday, but then someone else posted yesterday that she'd just done online check-in, but I tried it, and it was indeed down. :sad2:

So... one more thing NOT checked off my list!

Thank you so much ;) I will call tomorrow. I'm not EVEN packed & still have to make 8 more WDW shirts  All I can do is sit here, in front of the DIS! :surfweb:

We're back! We had gorgeous weather. No Rain the entire time!
Wait times were almost nonexistent. Even in the middle of the day, most attractions had less than 30 minute waits. TSMM fast passes were for 3pm at 10am though...which was expected.

Caribbean Beach was wonderful. We're glad that we tried a Moderate. I'm sure we'll return there again some day. I'm supposed to start planning a trip for next year at the Wilderness Lodge though.

WE'RE BACK TOO! We were also at CBR, what building were you in? We were in 26, garden view, it was fantastic! We actually used the bus stop at Old Port Royale instead of the Martinique stop b/c it was closer. And while I didn't end up with any hotel time, we would have been less than a minute from the "beach" had we been able to get there. (To those who asked a few pages back about CBR, busses, and building requests: we had NO bus issues except for one relating to my w/c which was quickly resolved. That said, Martinque 25 and 26 are awesome locations to OPR, beach/lake, and bus. I wouldn't hesitate to call and request a specific building, and probably will request 26 again in the future.)

Weather last week was absolutely gorgeous. Sunday night when we arrived was quite chilly mostly due to wind, we all needed long sleeves & pants, plus jackets (zip-up hooded sweatshirts), and bought hot chocolate to warm up with while watching Illuminations. Monday was the only other day we did jeans (wore capris or shorts the rest of the week, with jeans for DD after dark on M-W), I did 3/4 sleeve shirts Monday & Tuesday then short sleeves, and DH and DD wore short sleeves the rest of the week with our sweatshirts in the bottom of the stroller for DD and I.

Crowd levels were amazing; the only time we ever felt crowded in the parks was at AK on Friday, particularly around Africa. This could be largely due to park configuration though. As danceintherain said, TSMM fastpasses went extremely fast, and the wait times were posted at 70-90 minutes at times, but we waited to do it after PM EMH hours kicked in, and were able to walk on in about 20 minutes. I don't think we ever had more than a 20-30 minute wait for anything else, most of the time even less, with minimal FP usage.

The only time we really had crowd issues was at DTD on Saturday afternoon; it took nearly 30 minutes for DH to find a place to park, and the stores were crazy! The only reason we drove over was b/c it was our last stop before leaving for home, but next time we'll def. take the bus, even if it does mean hauling lots of bags back. Not sure how much Festival of the Masters was affecting things, but I was def. rushed and didn't get to shop as much as I wanted.

I'll try to start a TR tomorrow (I am absolutely EXHAUSTED) but I wanted to offer one tip for those whose travels are still upcoming: if you're at DHS during PM EMH, head over to the theater used for the Playhouse Disney show. While waiting for a showing of "Voyage of the Little Mermaid", we stumbled upon a walk-in dance party with the characters; it was a BLAST! There were people giving out balloon animals/hats, the music was jamming, bubbles were flying, and DD had such a great time dancing with the characters. She line danced to the Cha-cha slide with Handy Manny, and Mickey took her by the hand to help her "roll" while dancing to Proud Mary! (Sadly, DH was in the bathroom with the camera, but they will be priceless memories for me.) Minnie and Goofy were also there, it was such a wonderful surprise!
