Yep, even sausage or hot dogs that are chicken or beef often still have a pork casing. Don't even think about cooking my breakfast on a griddle that had bacon sizzling away! Although, I think I'll take my running for the nearest bucket over your migraine

yeah...that would be better!! Sometimes the migraines are so bad I need the bucket too!! By then I am praying to be sick and get some relief!!! People think I eat weird...but I have to! I love salad, fruits and most vegetables...and I can do some greens(if they aren't cooked in bacon or bacon grease)...and chicken. Steaks are ok, but I don't eat it often...so, people constantly make comments about me 'trying to be sooooo healthy"...I just naturally like that stuff. And thank the good Lord I do--it's the only stuff that doesnt make me sick!!! And when I say, Oh, I can't have that, I am allergic, or it gives me a migraine...they just look at me like I am crazy. Oh well...look all you want! I ain't gonna eat it to make you feel better!!! LOL

how excited is everyone getting!!
I think we have 62 more days!!!
We have been crazy busy since school started again I haven't even had time to think about the trip! I know.. scary!
But at least everything is booked and paid for.. and I am not one to start packing months in advance so I think I'm good.. I'll start to get super duper excited next month!

69 Days Counting Counting

Our state doesn't allow 'educational trips'. In fact, they don't allow vacations during school at all. We used to have to call and say we had to go out of town or say they were sick. Their teachers always knew what was going on and would tell us what we should say each year. I don't like to fib, but a girls gotta do what she's gotta do for her WDW trip. I figured as long as the teachers were ok with it, that is what really mattered. It always counted as an unexcused absence. That is why we don't do it now that they are in High School.

I have heard here on the DIS that there are several states out there that are very strict on this type of thing and basically don't allow it. I guess we are pretty lucky up here.

Just booked this short trip for DS & I. We were originally booked for DCL + CBR last week but there was a medical situation with a family member. Had to cancel ....

Arrive Nov 28 for 5 days - SSR. We've never seen the Christmas decorations - sounds like a very nice time to visit.
Do you recommend tickets to the MVMCP? Or can we see most of the holiday stuff visiting the parks? The tickets are $59. ??

You'll love November and all the Christmas decorations! You can see most of the holiday stuff without going to the MVMCP. The extras that MVMCP will get you are - a special holiday Spectro parade, special holiday Wishes, free hot chocolate & cookies, and snow on main street.

We are still debating doing a MVMCP. At this point I am kind of leaning against it.

Shelly, I would ask if your child could take the placement tests the week before you leave. If you have worked in the school, they may allow you to administer the test while the teacher is teaching. She will be able to see that you are not helping him but it allows her to keep teaching. It wouldn't be an optimal testing environment but would get it done.

Also, since they administer these tests 3 times a year, they may just use his last scores.

My DD14 had an assembly this week and they told them that magnet students may be asked to leave the program if they miss 5 days. She was absent Monday due to a stomach virus and will miss 4 days with our trip. She was afraid she would be kicked out of Spanish Immersion.

I just laughed at her. I told her not to worry because they need her tests scores too much to ever ask her to leave. It would never happen.

Schools are sticklers about absences because of NCLB. Attendance is added in to their statistics.

I did talk to DS's teacher yesterday and she said not to worry about it. The thought did cross my mind (after we got off the phone) to ask if I could just come in the week before and monitor the boys taking the test, but I don't know if the teachers have access to the tests early. I still need to talk to the principal.

Good morning everyone. I cant believe September is here already, a little over 2 months and we will be in the world.... Heading out in a little bit to pick up groceries for our last minute camping trip to the adirondacks. Anyone else have plans for the long weekend??

No big plans for the weekend. We just want to do a bunch of fun things with the kids. They head back to school Tuesday.

Any of my other November travelers Military or retired Military? I am trying to find out if the Children's Miracle Network allows military and retirees in for free like they do at all other PGA events..... anyone had previous experience with this?

I don't know about that. But last year we were at POR during that week and then checked out of there that Friday and into OKW. When we checked into OKW they gave us free tickets to the CMN PGA thing. We are not golfers and didn't go. I'm not sure why OKW was giving out tickets and I don't know if any other resorts were. . .

I am not one to start packing months in advance so I think I'm good.. I'll start to get super duper excited next month!

I have 69 days, 20 hours, and 21 minutes to go, and I just did a test run on my packing yesterday. We're flying with United, so we'll have luggage fees. I wanted to see if I could get 9 nights of our things into 2 suitcases under 50 pounds each. Dang luggage fees.

Okay I am totally stealing this idea from the camping board, but would everyone think about coming up with some lil identifier type thing we could wear (like attached to our bags or belt loops) so if we see each other, we will be able to recognize our fellow November board members. I am thinking something small and simple so it won't be a hassle. What do you all think? I was just thinking it would stink to come back from our vacations and post pics, only to realize after the fact that we were standing right next to one another without realizing it. Anywhoo, that's my idea.

Personally I think that is a very smart thing to do, last year DH packed his own bag ......well you guessed it, was over the 50lb limit so there we were pulling things out and putting them into our back pack carry-ons to avoid him being charged extra for the bag

That's a great idea!

First of all - we need to come up with a name for our group!!

Since all DISers hang the LGMH on their bags, backpacks, and strollers, we need something to identify our group here. When I was on a January countdown we called ourselves the Snowbirds. Then we all got the LGMH and wrote "Snowbirds" on them. It was fun spotting them in the parks! I think I saw 4 or 5 Snowbirds on that trip! One of them right in the Pittsburgh airport - we were on the same flight!

Unfortunately I'm not very creative, so someone else is going to have to come up with a name!! I can't even think of a title for my PTR, and I want to start it next week!

Hi neighbor.... no plans this weekend for me but to work... my boys are playing in a member-member golf tournamanet at our club.... Did you go to the Fair? We have avoided it this year... been to hot... have fun camping..

No fair for us this year either, it has been too hot and it doesnt always draw the greatest crowds of people. There are just some things I dont want my 4 year old to see, and believe me I have seen all kinds of things at the fair. Have a great weekend!
