sjs,

Thank you for sharing your story! I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for the reminder to those of us with young children especially to enjoy our children and cherish the time we have with them. I've been so frustrated lately feeling like I am failing my children and worrying about their futures. We as parents have to remember that we can only do the best we can, our children make their own choices and our job is to just love them and help them anyway we can. Sounds like you've done just that! :lovestruc

We are coing to the party late, but can we joing anyway? We do Thanksgivng every year, but were putting of the trip to Mardi Gras this year fo various reasons, including the FD blackout. Well, I got a FD pin that covered Thanksgiving, and here we are. We ar booked for Nov19-27 at CBR. Our first two trips were at CSR, and I am really looking forward to trying a new resort this trip! I am normally the uber planner so getting everything together after 180 days has been stressful, but I think we have pretty good ADR's and even got the Priates and Pals cruise!
Here is our plan:
Sat-20
MK
BB for DD at lunchtime
Tonys dinner
Sun-21
AK
hop to Epcot
Norway princess meal
Mon-22
Epcot
Via Napoli dinner
Tues-23
DHS
Brown Derby Dinner
Wed-24
MK
Plaza Dinner
Thurs-25
DHS
Sci-Fi lunch
Fri-26
Epcot
Marrakesh lunch
Pirates and Pals Cruise
Sat-27
MK Half Day
Drive Home:sad1:
The only thing we did nto get that we had in our original March plan was A castle meal and the Coral Reef, so all in all I thnk I did pretty well for making ressies 92 days out!

I was just going to tell you about this thread over on the CBR FAQ!! :goodvibes I hope you love CBR as much as we do
!

I am so sorry!! I cannot even begin to imagine what it feels like to lose a child. Please know you will all be in my prayers!
Thank You
Sheila, my son reached out this Saturday, after 8 years, but it was to get something and ask for something he did not get. I constantly remind myself that no matter how bad it is it could be worse, as in your situation. I just keep hanging in there.

If you are there when I am I would love to give you a hug and get to know you better. I think your idea is lovely. I know another DIS family who were in a wreck shortly after returning from a Disney vacation and their little boy did not make it. Some folks, who do not get it, could not understand why they would ever return but I understood. There are so many happy memories of time spent there together and I know that while the tears will come to you so will the happy memories. Maybe this is his way of comforting you. BTW, the family I spoke of just had a baby boy. No replacement but a comfort.

I am glad you heard from your son they do not understand sometimes when we can not keep giving and giving, my eldest tends to have resentment problems just the other day we were talking and he brought something up and I reminded him that by time his brother came along we were better off financially.

That is such a sad story but at least the had a new baby to focus their attentions on now, WDW is a place of very many happy memories for us to just like the family in your story. I think what is the hardest is getting thru the holidays the first year, we skipped Thanksgiving and Christmas I could not bare to put up a tree, I am hopeing this year after our trip it will be different

Trackey79, it is pretty dry that time of year and if you are under trees and such and have a good tent you should be fine. Do you camp often? I would love to see all those decorations but getting my husband over there and renting a golf cart, I have never driven one, might be more than I can manage. I have watched them on Youtube. Did you know you can get on there and see any Disney attraction/ride that you wish? I do it on those cold Indiana days.

Slightly Goofy

If you need some support when you go to release that balloon let me know and we can swing by and lend you a shoulder to lean on.

Thank You for the offer luckily I will have my DH there with me :)

We are taking this trip at this time so that I can try not think about the anniversary of my Mom passing, but I know that won't really happen. There is nothing that will make me forget that date, so my only hope is that the magic of Disney can make that day a little more bearible. I hope it does the same for you.

We toyed with the idea of going down for Thanksgiving but my Dmil would not come so we could not , I hope being there helps to ease your pain
We have camped several times now with all four kids and we enjoy it quite a bit. I am requesting a site nears the woods this time, so with any luck we will get one. You should try to convince your hubby. Driving a golf cart is easy and you could always go do the hoop dee doo review while you are there. :thumbsup2

I will pray for you to have great weather , no more rain like last year :thumbsup2

Hello, November group!

We will be at Caribbean Beach from November 20th to 25th! :yay:

It will be me (33), my DH (39), his son, DSS, (17), and DSS's GF (18).

We are super excited bc....

1. We got the dining plan for FREE! We've never used it before, so I'm a bit nervous about how it all works. We have ressies at Chef Mickey's for breakfast, Ohana for dinner, Sci-Fi and Coral Reef for lunch, Rainforest OOP just for the nachos :thumbsup2 and a dinner at Chefs de France, for just myself and DH.

2. It's DSS's first trip to Disney World!! ( I know, I know, HOW is this possible?)

If anyone has suggestions on how to make his first time more magical, please share!!

:woohoo:

Welcome to the group, your plans sound great. Don't tell anyone but we did not get to WDW until my eldest was 19 yrs old

Good morning November friends! :goodvibes

NOLAdisneymom ~ :welcome:

Trackey79 ~ Congrats on getting your plans all worked out - sounds like it will be a fun time!

Sheila ~ Wow that is quite a story. I'm so glad you shared and I hope it made you feel a little bit better by doing so. I can't imagine what you and your family are going through. You will all be in my prayers tomorrow.

Thank You Shelly
Trackey79, my husband is autistic as well as possibly senile now and I have to make sure he is well rested and keep things simple. New things do not work well as I have health problems too and it is difficult to do new things without any errors and keep him calm. He is much older than I am. Maybe you can post a Youtube video of the decorations when you are there?:thumbsup2

sjs314, you summed it up perfectly. Has been going on so many years now that I have come to the conclusion that I did the best I could under the circumstances and sometimes it is the child's fault. In his case I think he knows he is wrong and is looking for excuses. Such a stupid waste of time IMO. Forget , forgive and move on. I hope.

You are so very right, we can only do what we can do to the best of our abilities at any given time, as I mentioned in a previous post my eldest harbors some resentments cause the feels he did not get what my Jason did at the same age, he just still can not understand things changed financially by the time his younger brother came along oh well not much we can do as long as his vision is tainted
NOLAdisneymom, shhhh, do not tell this to the world. They will be coming after you for child abuse for not taking your children before this. :rotfl2: Our children were preteens before they got to go but since I was in my 30's myself at the time they were luckier than I. They laughed at me walking around wide eyed and all. Looks like you have a great start on a perfect vacation. I would just plan to let the young ones go off on their own here and there and make plans to meet up here and there and everyone will get to do what they want and all will be happy. Cell phones are such a wonderful thing in the parks. There is so much great information on the DIS and if you check the right forums you will garner more good information than you can conceive of. Check out the menus, resort info, and park information as well as live show times and make a loose plan, one that you can tweak as you see fit. Have a blast!

Welcome to our group, your plans look great and maybe if you keep trying you can still get lucky and find a ressie for coral reef or CRT around the 45 day mark when rumor has it people end up cancelling around then

I will definitely be checking and stalking the cancellation boards, but it is not gonig to be a big deal if we don't find them. We have done both before, but wanted to get them in agian becuase we didn't do them last trip. I am just happy to be pushing the trip up 4 whole months! My boss was really happy when I told him I had rearranged it. It is just better for me withmy school schedule to miss at Thanksgiving than Mardi Gras. Those 2 days before are not "quality instruction" days anyway aswe have a lot of distractions and a lot of kids gone, plus an early dismissal on that Tuesday.

Such a lovely and kind bunch of people here. There are things that cannot be said nearer to home and it is nice to have a place to share, compare and learn to bear. :lovestruc

Welcome to everyone and for the person whose dmil could not come, did you need a babysitter? Wild dogs could not keep away if I ever got invited to go along with any family vacation, especially if I got to babysit. I did it once, a very long time ago. Love watching families at DW.

HELP! I couldnt leave well enough alone. After seeing all the discounts before and after Thanksgiving week, I started wondering what the price of our trip would be the week after. My AAA TA got us free dining for the week which means we would save $600 compared to the week we have booked (Thanksgiving week).

Couple questions I know you all can help me with:
Is it worth changing weeks? Yes the money is definately a "Pro" but I was wondering if the crowds were really that much smaller the week after Thanksgiving? Would it be a more relaxed week (reguarding waves of people)?

I have awesome ADRs (if I must say so myself) for Thanksgiving week, but am sort of piece-mealing my TS meals for the week after. I cant even get a ressie for WCC and we are staying at WL!

Im not too worried about DD missing school. This would definately be her last year I would consider a lengthy absence. But again it is somewhat on the "con" list.

MVMCP will be on the last night we are there and I love the thought of going out with a bang, but I dont know anything about it other than the extended hours, cocoa and snow.:confused3 Is it worth the extra money?

Mind you, I have done all this changing...today!! I have until Monday to sort it all out and now have a self-imposed headache. Again, I should have left well enough alone. :lmao: And why did I wait until my ticker said 3 Months?!?!:rotfl:

I think there is a considerable difference in crowds from Thanksgiving week and the week after

Thanksgiving week 5,7,8,9,10,8,9

Weel After 6,3,3,4,4,5,5,

As far as the MVMCP this will be our first time ever going to it and I think it wil be worth it to see the special parade and fireworks but that is a matter of personal preference , if it was me I would use some of the saved $ to go attend the party.

Also the Candlelight Processional begins Nov 26th (dinner pkg go on sale Aug 26th) something else you might use the saved $ for that you could not do if you go Thanksgiving WeekAs far as ADR's yes they will be harder to come by but if you keep checking you might just snag some that you want as it gets closer to your vacation dates.

just wanted to say hello to everyone!
Sheila~ Hope you have a good day..know that we are thinking of you today!

We are at 12 weeks today....still sounds kinda far off!! but, when I look at what all I have to do between now and then it's really not!!

Oh that's a tough one!!

I was faced with a similar situation when I found out that the week I booked our trip for, which has always been parent-teacher conferences and half days at our school, was not conference week after-all. They moved it to the following week. I was going to try to change everything so that the kids would miss less school as planned, but was worried it would be too much trouble with hotel, airfare, and ADR's. So I ended up leaving it alone. I will pay for that when it comes to DS11's make up work I'm sure. :scared: But like you, this will likely be the last time we take him out of school for vacation.

Good luck deciding!!(I do think it will be less crowded the week after Thanksgiving, verses the week of Thanksgiving. But even less the week before!)

Well I am at 11 weeks today. Or 77 days. However you want to look at it. I think I will go with 11 weeks. Yep, sounds better. :rotfl:

:cool1::banana::woohoo: 11 WEEKS!! :woohoo::banana::cool1:

:dance3::dance3::dance3:

Alexensmom~ in regards to MVMCP....that is going to totally depend on your schedule and your vacation budget! We have been twice in the past, then a couple of times we skipped it....we are going this year, but we haven't been in quite a while and we aren't doing any other big ticket things...like Hoop Dee Do or anything.... My kids absolutely love it...they talk about it every Christmas...they loved getting hot chocolate and gingerbread with the snow falling on Main Street....of course, it was freezing the last time so it was greatly appreciated!!!:rotfl: My advice is this: if you can afford it, & it fits into your schedule or you can make it fit...do it!!! Just make sure the day of the party you take it easy...and don't plan RD or a Character breakfast the morning after!!!! Also, if you can hang around for the 2nd parade time that's offered, you will see more....go ride stuff while the first parade is going....

:dance3::dance3::dance3:

WOOOO HOOOO...I am right behind you!!!!! Have you started your lists yet? I have mine printed and ready to start checking things off!! Maybe we should post a countdown list...you know everybody put their stuff? I think I like this idea!! Ok...since y'all asked, I will start:lmao: :
3 Months...I know most of us are past this part, but it's okay--you can check it all off!!!

~Airfare with conf.-print and in Disney file
~pet sitters secured
~Park days planned (to whatever extent you plan them)
~ADRs made and conf #s printed
~Dates secured on your spouses calendars!!! (I have to make sure ours are done as we are self-employed)
~Make payments to WDW

Anyone want to add what you do at the 3 month mark?

Most of us have done that and are in the 2 month range...so here's my list for that:

~Begin purchasing small toiletries
~Begin purchasing snax
~Make sure tennis shoes are broken in for kids
~Order any shirts to match for the family
~Finalize haircut schedules
~Christmas shopping-begin or finish (wherever you are at this point)
~Thanksgiving and Christmas baking lists (b4 prices skyrocket)
~Final pymt due at 45 days

I was wondering if MVMCP is worth it too. With 8 kids, its gonna get pricey. I love the idea of the falling snow, but how much am I willing to spend for fake snow, ya know??
