Why are they changing the name?

The following is from the Disney Blog
A quick update to share tonight…our antique carrousel ride in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom Park – Cinderella’s Golden Carrousel – is officially changing its name to Prince Charming Regal Carrousel. The name change takes effect June 1.

The name change helps tell the rest of the Cinderella story that inspired the carrousel. Here’s the official story behind it:

Following their fairy-tale romance and happily-ever-after wedding, Cinderella and Prince Charming took up residence in Cinderella’s Castle. With peace throughout the kingdom, Prince Charming had time to practice for jousting tournaments. In the countryside near the castle, he built a training device of carved horses, on which he could practice the art of ring-spearing, a tournament event in which a knight rides his horse full speed, lance in hand, toward a small ring hanging from a tree limb, with the object of spearing the ring. This event was known by various names throughout the lands, but generally came to be called “carrousel.”

The carrousel device drew the attention of the villagers, who wanted to take a turn on this amazing spinning contraption. So Prince Charming had a second carrousel constructed closer to the Castle, where everyone could take a spin on this wondrous invention. Instead of a working knight’s training device, however, this new carrousel is more befitting its regal location in the Castle Courtyard – its rustic training horses replaced with ornately decorated prancing steeds adorned with golden helmets and shields, flower garlands, feathers and other festoons. Prince Charming invites one and all to test their horsemanship skills and to enjoy their own happy ending.

We can't wait to see the Osborne Family Lights!! Glad to see the dates are set. Is it best to be there when they first turn them on?

I was wondering the same thing. That evening we have ADR for 5 pm in Epcot, then we have to rush over to DHS to see the Osborne Family Lights, then to MK for the MVMCP  Thank goodness for Hopper passes :worship:

I think it's best to be there when they turn them on. But you definitely don't have to be. It's just really neat & exciting to see the little show and see them flip the switch!

Wow, it's kinda quiet in here today. . . Where is everybody??? :bored:

How about a QOTD? :yay:

I know some of us have talked about the concerts at Epcot, but who is planning on seeing one, and which one?

I am thinking about trying to squeeze in a Rick Springfield concert on the 10th or 11th, but may have to switch some ADR's around to do so. . .

We will definitely be going to see Rick Springfield :rotfl:

I can't remember if I shared this story, if so please forgive me, but when I was 14 I went to see RS here in my home town. What is funny about that night, is that I am never allowed to forget the date of that concert.

My Mom and Dad were supposed to pick us up after the concert but one of my aunts and uncles picked us up instead. As it turned out my sis had gone into labor and ended up having my nephew that night. So.... I will never be allowed to forget that on Sept 20, 1994 I saw Rick Springfield in concert :goodvibes

Unfortunately, I will never forget the date when I see him again because it will be the one year anniversary of my mom passing. (That is the biggest reason I am taking this trip, to try and keep my mind off it. Like that will really work! :( )

For what it's worth:) On one of our trips, we were in line and the CM overheard me telling my DD that she was going to ride Cinderella's horse (the one with the golden bow on the horses tail) and he mentioned that the horse directly behind that one is the last remaining horse from the original horses.

Ok, change of plans. We got the monster pin which doesn't cover our planned week so we had to change the dates from november to october. Don't worry, we will leave some Dole whip for the rest of you LOL

We planned our trip this year in memory of my DS who we lost last July, only days before he left us, we had talked once again of visiting WDW at Christmas ,I know DS will be there with us in our hearts this November.

We are going to MVMCP on 11/19 and I already got my tickets, mostly because they don't do the party during Thanksgiving week so we added on an extra day. I didn't want to take a chance they wouldn't be available.
We get there after all the concerts- boohoo. Although maybe they'll do some others during our week.

:

Im sure you were like me and asked multiple times if DH had any requests reguarding ADRs, his answer being "Whatever you want." :headache::rotfl: :sad2:  Enough to drive you crazy! My DH did that to me last year. We only did Chef Mickey last year for DDs first trip, but I didnt worry it wasnt enough. She saw lots of characters throughout the week and the interaction was much better than CM. One of her favorite moments was meeting Stitch at the entrance inside Epcot.

I agree with that...and of course DH had input and said "whatever you want dear":laughing::headache:
We may include Crystal Palace too. I love Pooh and Piglet! Not sure if DS's will though. :rolleyes1

I cannot even begin to imagine what it must be like to lose a child. I'm so sorry. I have no doubt though that your son will be right there with you. I hope you all have an amazing time.

We had just planned to do O'hana with Stitch, but while doing ADRs I tried for the fun of it to see if I could get CP before park opening and I did:woohoo:. I thought DD wouldnt be all that into Pooh, but she was excited too:hippie:.

To the PPs, I cant imagine what you are going through. I was just thinking today that my favorite grandfather was laughing and smiling at me from above at the silly things my DS and I were doing today .

 That is so sad. How old was he? But I agree with the other poster that he will be right there with you. Are you planning on doing anything special that he really loved to do.

I always think of my dad when I am on Space Mtn. He had cancer and his last request was to go to Disney so one mth before he passed away 1989 we went and his goal was to ride SM which he did.

Edited: Just saw that Rick Springfield will be there when we are there. I don't think we are going to see him though. I was never a big fan of his.

Hi all,

Still trying to recover from a crazy Memorial Day weekend!!! DH was sick so we had to delay our return trip causing the kids to miss school, my mother was freaking out over a snake (or snakes) in her garden, and I had to make my ADRs!!!!!

So, here they are:

11/29 Ohana's 10:15 am

12/1 Boma 6PM

12/2 Tusker House 8:15 am, 1900 Park Fare 6pm

12/3 (DH's 40th bday) Whispering Canyon 9:30 am, T-Rex 1pm

I could not get a good time for the Fantasmic package, so we bagged it, which means we are also not going to see the Osborne Lights. I'm a little bummed, but confident that it's the right decision. It gives us more time in MK which is our priority.

DH got our flights with Amex miles :banana: so we are all set!

All I have to do now is link our flights with magical express. As we get closer, I will be placing an order with Garden Grocer, mapping out the rides we are going to go on and which ones we are going to fp, and make a packing list.

Is anyone worried about the flu in Nov????? What kind of preventative measures are you going to take????

How about a QOTD? :yay:

Big Bad VooDoo Daddy is playing on our Epcot day (and my birthday) so as long as it doesn't interrupt our ADR we're seeing them.

I know my roommate wishes we were leaving a day or two early so she could see Hanson though

I'm so sorry about the loss of your mother.

I'm so sorry about your son. I can't even imagine. I hope the trip helps to ease the pain a bit. I know he will be there with you.

ADR's look great! :thumbsup2

Well, the swine flu was in full force right before our trip last year. :sad2: I was terrified. The beginning of the school year is bad with germs and colds and flu anyway, and then the added swine flu. :scared1: I didn't start working at the school until the second semester, so I was home and just thinking about it all the time. Terrified that the kids would get sick right before the trip. I was a cleaning and sanitizing fool! I was sending in hand sanitizer & clorox wipes for each of the children's classes and was constantly telling the kids to wash their hands and desks several times a day. Telling them to stay away from szeezing & coughing kids!! I almost didn't let them go trick-or-treating. I did end up letting them go, but not to a lot of places and I wiped down each wrapper before I let them touch it! :upsidedow DS8 ended up with a fever about a week before vacation, but it wasn't anything major. Thankfully. I wiped down everything at he airport and on the plane before we touched anything. When we got to WDW I scrubbed down the room before we unpacked. And went crazy with the hand sanitizer the whole week. It was a pain, but we came and went healthy!

I will probably be just as anal about it this year!! :faint:
