QUOTE: TOTALLY agree with this. Make homeschooling work for YOU. We have never done anything else, so we didn't have to contend with the "that's not how we did it in school" stuff. We are very eclectic homeschoolers and we do NOT use a 'schedule' for our work. There are SO many different ways to teach at home. Don't limit yourself by thinking that you have to "do school at home ..."

And ... find a homeschool group in your area!!!!!!!

Favorite Picture Spot?

In Front of the Castle, of coarse! We typically try to do our picture on the bridge to Tomorrowland. That way you don't get alot of the people traffic in the background. And while this isn't a photo of us, it is a photo I take every.single.year! I somehow always manage to get a picture of the Ostrichs butt while on the Safari. Its a running joke in our house that it moons me everytime! lol

Favorite Smell

The Apple Pie in Philharmagic. Or the orange grove that is now on Soarin. Because it makes me think of riding Horizons when I was little, which has always been one of the most distinct memories of my childhood trips to WDW.

Do you have a favorite photo spot?
I will also go ahead and answer my own question and say that I have 2 (I think I've got them every year we've gone and it's so cool to see how much they change). One is on Pooh's Log (now at DTD) and the other is in Mexico wearing big sombreros (we always get the kids and then all of us- fun one!)

My favorite spot is at Mickey's mailbox, outside Mickey's house in Toontown. I take pictures of my kids there every time we go. It is fun to compare the pictures and see how big they have gotten. I just hope it is still there when we go back

My fave smell is easy....The lobby of the Beach Club. They pump in this amazing fragrance...smells like a beach vacation but with a floral kick. I asked if I could buy this smell..they said they don't sell it.

What is your favorite smell at WDW?

I love that fake bakery smell they pipe out onto Main Street! And the oranges on Soarin.

Oh - and that musty water smell on the POTC! I know, I'm weird!

How about that lovely smell from "It's Tough to be a Bug"! It's great! OK, just kidding. My favorite is def the Orange groves in the Soarin ride!

We were just there in January and the mailbox was still there at that point.

I have many, some by accident and some by chance and now I make a point each trip...

so because I am a Diser freek they all have some meaning behind them:

DH & I take our picture on the NY back drop at DHS each trip

I take a picture of my Son by Zurg at the exit of BLAB in MK

My oldest DD has her picture taken on Cinderella's Carousel in MK each trip

We take a kid only shot in front of the AK sign before the turnstiles

And this may be the last yr for this one, but a kid or family group shot in front of Mickey's house in MK

As well the coveted in front of the tree, hat, castle, and SSE at the 4 parks and we always get a picture w/ Mickey. for the past 3 family trips each one is different 1) just regular Mickey outfit, 2) Mickey in Hawaiian shirt and 3) Soccerer Mickey...this yrs goal is w/ Safari Mickey in AK

and I need to decide on special shot for my other two girls to continue taking their pictures...I make timeline books to keep each picture in.

Ok it's not really a WDW smell, but I always associate it w/ arriving at Disney...the Fl air...when you step outside MCO to catch the DME...then I know we are almost there

Thank you!! I think it will be interesting as well. (Our two youngest are even expressing interest in it.) My hubby will be the one taking on the task (his been a stay at home dad for almost 9 years now as I can make more $) so any advice you can share for him would be great!

My biggest advice is to RELAX. Don't stress over it and kill yourself and your kids. You WILL get more in than the PS schools do, and your kids WILL learn. Try to HAVE FUN with it ... and remember that *everything* you do teaches you something!!!!!!

Find out his goals, and try to work your goals in with his. It can be done. Try to make it enjoyable for all of you, and try to give him a chance for self motivation and responsibility.

I led our homeschool group (and founded it) for over 10 years. I helped MANY new homeschoolers as they found new freedom and possibilities in home educating. I honestly believe that if you WANT to homeschool (truly want to), then you can do it. There will be days when you and your kids are pulling your hair out and you're threatening to put them in traditional school. Everyone has them. You'll get past them, though. Email or message me if you ever need anything. Like I said, I've done this before, and I've home educated for a very long time (none of my kids have ever been to traditional school).

YES!!!! That's one. Another couple that I just thought of was the fire in Pirates and the 'land' smell in The Land. Or the skunk smell in Figment ......The smell of our rooms in the resort after they've been freshly cleaned .... or the smell of the chocolate on our pillow at night ..... There are soooooo many.



Oh, one more ... the smell of Mickey waffles ......

Still recovering from our F&GF trip a couple weeks ago, but now I get to start planning for our next trip!!

We booked a Bounceback for 11/10-14 at POFQ , for DMIL's first trip (sort of). She took hubby to Epcot for 1 day (back in the early days of Epcot), but she's never seen any more of the House of Mouse. And since the BB rate was so good, and we still have 8 days on No Expire Hoppers, we decided to treat her to a well-deserved vaca.

Can't wait to catch the last few days of F&WF, and I sure hope we get in on the beginnings of the Christmas decorating and OL!

I figured it must be on the other side of the state since I had never heard of it. We are in a suburb of Pittsburgh.

Ohhh, where? My dad was raised in Glassport/Clairton/Wilson, and my aunt still lives in Jefferson Hills. I went to Pitt and spent five years living in the city (Oakland/Bloomfield/Highland Park).

I'm afraid I don't have any answers to the most recent QOD's. I've only been a couple of times, the most recent being seven years ago, so I can't say I have any favorite smells or photo spots. Can't wait to make some on this trip though!

We're going!!!!We had plans to stay offsite but just got a pin so hopefully staying at POR Nov 11 through Nov 17th. Its me, DH, DD14, DS12, DD8 and three more neighbors and their families for a grand total of 18 definite people!! My sister and her two kids are still on the fence as is one more neighbor. So our party could be growing!!! Those are the only plans we have so far, and we are definitely trying to do Hoop Dee Do Hoping for free dining with this huge crowd! We have never gone in November, I hope its a good time!
