We've never done the Fantasmic show, and were thinking we would this time.

However, I'd rather do the Osbourne lights ~ can both be done in one evening?

I've read many reports on the DIS that said the CM actually encouraged the Fantasmic folks to stop by the Osbourne lights AFTER seeing Fantasmic. So I would at least give it a try. (don't plan on it though if that is your ONLY night to see the lights). From other's TR, DHS actually stays open past 7pm for folks to see the OL. The rest of the parks and rides will be closed but they expect others to linger at OL.

YMMV.

I know some of you get the addiction of Disney...

It makes me feel better when I am at Disney... when the time comes to leave... to know when I will be back. Who's with me.

Seriously, I am exactly the same way. I like knowing there is another trip planned...even if it's far away. Do you own DVC? That is another way to guarantee that you get back to WDW!

For those wondering how Easywdw compares to UG (touring plans) -- overall, they are using somewhat different approaches so are coming to somewhat different results.

I just checked my dates and wanted to share just some of the info:

Nov 21 both say 5's but Easy says to avoid MK and UG says to go to MK. Easy says to go to AK and UG says to avoid it.

Nov 22 Easy says 7 and UG says 6. One says to go to one park where the other says to avoid it.

Nov 23 Both have 8 and park recommendations are the same.

Nov 24 One says a 9 and the other says an 8. Both recommend the same park but differ on park to avoid.

I have some serious reading and catching up to do on this thread but I just wanted to get my extended dates added!!

We have now added the 19th and 20th to our reservation. We will be moving to AKV for that Fri and Sat night. I am so excited. This trip is going to full of firsts.


So now we are...
12th-15th @ POR
15th-19th @ BWV
19th-21st @ AKV


I can't wait! I will update with some food stuff soon. I can't believe how fast it is coming up now!

Catching up a bit...busy, busy group. We will be there Thanksgiving week and have scheduled Fantasmic right after seeing the Osbourne Lights on the 21st (Sunday). That is probably pushing but we want to see them both before heading to MK.

I need to make a change to our dates and resort. We're now 11/19-11/27 at Pop. Talked to DH last night about the DxDP and told him what we get. Even if we don't use all of our meal credits we at least won't be paying OOP for meals. I called today to see what the difference would be if we added the DxDP to our POR ressie and it was going to be a $792.00 difference. We would be saving 40% on onsite dining and when you split it out it wsa $50/per person/per day. I sent DH an e-mail about it today thinking he'd say "No way!" but he was all for it! I, on the other hand, was not so sure. After running the numbers it was going to stretch our budget even tighter and I just didn't see how I was going to do it.

Sooooo...I called back to WDW Travel and had them run the numbers for Pop with 8 day base tickets, the DxDP, preferred room and standard room. I also wanted to make sure that there was still availability using the 30% pin. (We used 35% pin for our POR ressie). Good news...there was availability! The CM ran the numbers and I decided to go with the preferred room.

I'm sad we won't be staying at POR but know that we will still have a great time! Guess I better change my ticker!

Just back from the beach and back to my computer! Had a lot to catch up on. My in laws and SIL's family decided they are going to come down for Thanksgiving, so we are now spending our first 5 nights at SSR in a 1 bedroom and then moving over to The Swan for the other nights. I'm excited but had to change around some plans and am a little disappointed we won't have as much leisure time. (I had planned on the latter part of the week to hang out at the resort, tour some other resorts, swim and now we will be in parks all day with them.) I'm going to have a resort day at the beginning of the trip instead.

Oh - I got a clean bill of health. With limited mobility. The dr describes my belly as a superficial wound. Like a cut. But the fact that it is a incision site, it needs to heal properly. So I have been given 2 weeks to get it to healed or they are going to restitch it. She said I can swim now! Yeah! She just doesn't want me doing anything that requires me to do serious streching of my tummy muscles and no heavy lifting. Otherwise, she said I was fine to return to my typical wigglewort self!

That's great news! Have fun swimming.

The 2011 Walt Disney World Packages and Dining Plans have been announced. Price for the basic dining plan ranges from from $45.99 to $47.99 per person for adults and $11.99 to $12.99 per person for children ages 3-9, depending on the season of the booking. Disney's Quick Service Dining Plan has increased to $34.99 per person for adults and $11.99 per person for children ages 3-9. The Deluxe Dining Plan will be $78.99/adults and $21.99/children 3-9; while the Premium Plan is $169/adults and $119/children, and the Platinum Plan $229/adults and $160/children. The Wine and Dine add-on package is available again this year for an additional $39.99 per night.

On a related note, as of March 2011, Le Cellier in Epcot will require two Disney Dining Plan table service credits for dinner. Lunch will remain one table service credit per meal.

REMINDER: This is the last week for Summer Nightastic! at the Walt Disney World parks. The Main Street Electrical Parade's run has been extended indefinitely, but the Magic Kingdom fireworks show reverts to Wishes! on August 15, and the special effects on the Tower of Terror will cease that same day.

I'm so excited we get to see MSEP again. We saw it in July and loved it! Memories!!

The fireworks were phenomenal and I'm sad to see they won't keep them around longer ... but they really were so over the top (like a Hallowishes or Pirates' Fireworks), that I understand why they can't do them nightly!

Had to post just so I can say doing the double digit dance. Day 99. So happy doing the dance double because day 40 on my AKL trip. I think I'm driving every one around me crazy with my current vacation planning and talking and plannning and talking .... So glad to come here and know that I'm not alone with my one track mind.

Hello all,

So I checked out the easywdw site, pretty cool. I'm thinking though that if our crowd levels are at a 2 the entire time we're there, that even the "parks to avoid" shouldn't be too bad, right? I do plan on mostly following the EMH's since we're not hopping and may wish to rest mid-day and go back, but easywdw says to universally avoid EMH parks b/c of crowds being heavier.

That's a good idea...we avoid EMH parks, too. We sometimes do the early morning hours but leave by lunch time and go back for a rest or hop to another park. But I really like you strategy!
