That is what I thought too. However.. I do drink power aide or nuun. I also eat sports beans and sometimes after a recovery power aid

well, that's good...but I don't know what else the salt craving could be about then. Also trying to figure out what my chronic chocolate cake craving could mean? :confused3 I'm pretty sure chocolate deficiency is a VERY serious matter that must be tended to. ;)

I might have that same issue! :rotfl:

::yes:: ASAP! ;)

Reading all of the comments about appetite changes, I'm completely convinced it's tied to weather changes! I've got the total opposite going down here: it's finally down to highs in the low-mid-80s and mornings in the lowish 70s, which has caused a huge jump in my energy and motivation levels. And higher energy seems to result in less appetite for me. A total switch from the long, hot months of summer, when I had zero energy and craved carbs 24/7. My fall is a northerner's summer, lol!

Ok so some news on my P1/2...
My husband was able to score us a FREE hotel room through work. YAY!!!
Now... the last time he went to Orlando for work, the hotel they gave him was Coco Key Water Resort and it most likely will be again. Google Maps has it at 20 minutes / 11 miles from Epcot. It's on International Drive.
Has anyone ever stayed here for a race weekend or at all? If so, how did you like it? My husband went alone last time and is.. ahem.. not much help ;)

With traffic going toward Epcot- how much time should I allow?
TIA for putting up with my questions that may have been answered prior.

:rotfl: I think I suffer from that as well! :rotfl:

Hey girls! Sorry I haven't been keeping up on here... I've been very busy!
I ran my first half marathon in September, it was in Amish country and extremely hilly but gorgeous scenery! I finished in 2:18 and I'm very happy with that time :)
Right now, I'm on my way to Disney World!! I actually am taking the week off from running... That's pretty big for me, I have ran every week since January. I'm trying to hit some big goals in November so I think it's ok for me to take a week off. ;)
Good luck to anyone out racing this weekend!

Oh and I believe I have the chocolate deficiency as well!!

Congrats on your race !!! Have a great trip. We're heading down to Disneyland in just 3 days. Not sure if I'm going to bring my running shoes. I just may take a couple days off.

I just signed up for the Princess half -- I'm so excited! I've never been to Orlando though, so I was curious if people have suggestions on hotels that are in walking distance to the starting line?? I ran my first half at the Disneyland 1/2 in September, it was AMAZING! So I'm stoked to do the Princess 1/2 too! I'm also doing it by myself, travelling from Arizona. So it'll be nice to get to know some of y'all and maybe see some friendly faces out there :).

Most disney hotels are host hotels for the race, they have busses to pick you up and take you to and from the start. Not sure on the walking distance!
If you did DLhalf, did you sign up for your coast to coast medal?

You can walk from POFQ or PO (not recommended, many people do, just make sure your route takes you the correct way), but they have buses that run from several of the Disney resort hotels ( check runDisney site for exact hotels). There will be some "meetup" set up closer to the race..usually one Saturday late afternoon.

Not sure if things have changed, but C2C has to be in the same year.

Congrats, sounds like you did a great job!

I do much of my workouts on the treadmill as I live out in the country so no street lights, thus not safe to run early mornings or at night. I know the Galloway plan on the Disney race site has two training days per week (30 min ea) with the long run on the weekend. I also do cross training at home with weights and still waiting on my arms looking as good as Princess V ! :)

I'll have to go to a running track or a friends neighborhood that has street lights in the next few weeks to get me off the treadmill and more on the streets. There will be many running/walking the race so don't feel bad or defeated. You have plenty of time to train for a 15 min or 14 min mile which will give you a time cushion since Disney lists 3:30 for the race though I know some girls on the thread have said they have seen Disney let people finish in longer than 3:30.

Thanks for the encouragements! I want to train for a time that's between 13 and 14 mm. I know I will need train hard, but I think it is doable. DH is turning 40 this year and I already decided to offer him the Coast to Coast for his birthday. He likes running with me and plans to do all the races by my side, even though I'm much much slower than him. My goal is to train hard enough to be able to challenge him by the Disneyland half. He prefers to run continuously, so I trained like that for the TOT. Having to walk half of it was kind of a let down. But I now realize I started the race too fast and lost too much energy trying to run around all the walkers.

My situation is about the same as yours. During the week, I'm in a small town with country roads, no lightning, no sidewalks, but with bears (when do they even go to sleep) and deers, and it being the hunting season, I don't feel quite secure to run outside. DH and I talked about buying a treadmill if we can find a company that delivers where I live. I hope we can, that would really help me get all the miles done and I could do the long runs at home on the weekend.

 I feel your pain - I wound up with an average pace of 16:20, when my norm has been in the 12:45-13: range. The upside is we can only get faster! :rotfl:

Maybe - my biggest concern is that by only doing 2 runs, your weekly mileage could be increasing too much too soon per workout, instead of spreading it out, which could put a lot more stress on your body (read: result in injury.) I'm not sure how you could increase weekly mileage, work on speed, AND keep making the long runs longer with only 2 days to work with. But I'm not an expert; I can only speak from my own experience.

I read your blog and your comments in the TOT tread and you really showed a lot of strength to even finish the race with the injury you had. I also had trouble during the race starting at mile 7. One of my toes was hurting so bad at every step I took, I was sure it was a stress fracture. Finishing the race required every once of determination I had. It took me nearly one week after that to even appreciate that fact that I had finished and not been swept.
So kudos to you for finishing. You are so right however, we can only go faster the next time. :cheer2: And that's why I'll have to train really hard.

Concerning my training for the half, I'm thinking along the same lines as you. When training for the TOT, I found a new job, had to move, start working, study for an admission exam to my professional order and so on. I mostly did not run for a whole month and mid August, I started to do longer runs every other weekend and added 2 miles every time I did that. I went from 4 miles mid August to 10 miles mid September. Between those runs I was able to run a few times for 2 or 3 miles. I was able to do it without real injury, but it was more of a endurance training than a speed training. As I'm getting really serious about training for the PHM and the DL half, I'm thinking of buying a treadmill so I could at least run during the week and do the long runs on the weekend at home where I have access to a more welcoming running environment.

I too live in the country. We have 4 acres cleared so I run different routes around the property after work each evening. If I drove to a walking track I'd never get around to it. As for the hunters, I'm also training at out hunting club on the roads during the weekend. Just invest in a hunter orange vest and they will see you I'm so excited about running (something I've never done before) I'm training at least 5 days a week so I can finish. I saw fireflies at sunset in my path this week So cool! Just think what I've been missing all this time.
